It was Thursday. Rosa loved Thursdays as it was the only day that she had no shifts whatsoever at the parlour. Most of the time she spent the day curled up on the couch, drinking whiskey and watching as many Nancy Meyers films as one could in a day. It was comforting to her. No one was bothering her, she could relax and feel how she wanted to feel without having to hide away from people. All day everyday Rosa just wanted to cry and not stop. Cry until she couldn't feel anything anymore but being constantly surrounded by people, this wasn't possible. Thursday was her day and it felt good.

That was until the house phone rang. Rosa turned around from her current position, crossed legged and wrapped in a blanket on the couch, and glared at the phone. The only people who rung that phone were her parents and Callie when she couldn't get hold of her mobile. Rosa wasn't in the mood for another lecture on how she was throwing her life away or maybe even a call from her parents asking her to meet with their priest again. She wasn't really keen on the idea of conversion therapy disguised as 'just a talk'.

She let the phone ring and turned back to the TV. Moments after the ringing had stopped the phone buzzed with a new voicemail. That was odd. Neither her parents or Callie ever left voicemails because a, her parents didn't bother trying more than once a month and b, if Callie really wanted her she'd just come over with the spare key she'd stolen a few years back. Rosa clocked an eyebrow and got up, making her way over to the phone. She stared at it for a second before hitting the voicemail button.

"Hi, Rosa, it's Gina. The coffee stealer. Yeah anyway, i know this isn't the number you gave me but maybe just give me a call when you get this. Mkay, cya."

The nerve in Gina's voice made Rosa smile slightly before calling the woman back.

"You know you sound like a real creep ringing on a number even i don't know." It was true. Rosa had no idea what her landline was and she couldn't care less.

"Yes i know but i couldn't remember the last four numbers you gave me," The nerves were still very much detectable in her tone.

"How'd you get this then?"

"I used a phone book," Gina said almost shyly because she knew how that sounded and if she was being honest Rosa intimidated her.

"HA!" Rosa snorted.

"Shut up."

"What are you? eighty?" Rosa mused.

"Wow you're a delight aren't you," Rosa could practically hear Gina rolling her eyes.

"A delight you must be real into because you used a fucking phone book to find me!"

"Well, now i've got ya. How about i take you out?"

"Oh i don't know. You couldn't remember my number." Rosa teased her once again, leaning against the wall and smirking.

"Come ONNN. I'm trying here." Gina whined.

"Okay okay. What are you thinkin'?"

"I was thinking i could buy you dinner? I know a nice place." Dinner... that's serious. They only just met and Gina wants to take her for dinner. Rosa wasn't sure. She had trouble leaving the house full stop never mind getting dressed up for a fancy dinner with a bitch who stole her coffee.

"You've only just met me."

"I know, but i'm really attracted to you and i wanna get to know you. I'm not normally the one to do all the romantic stuff in relationships, or buy people dinner. Normally i wait to get treated like a princess but i really wanna take you out. Please let me try."

"What time do you want me to be ready for." Rosa sighed, giving in. It wasn't everyday someone was respectful about finding her attractive. Most people just oversexualised her or completely degraded her for attention.

"Is seven okay?

"Mmm-hmm. I'll meet you outside my shop then."

"You sure? I can get you from your place if you want." Gina said.

"Nah. I'll see you at seven." Rosa didn't wanna give some woman she'd just met her address. No.

"Okay."

"Oh and Gina.."

"Yeah?"

"3118" Rosa gave her the las digits of her mobile number before hanging up.

She stood there for a second staring at the phone before realising she'd actually just agreed to a date with a really hot woman and she looked like she'd been awake for a good five days. Rosa groaned before shuffling off to the bathroom to shower.

-

After what felt like hours of styling her hair and prodding herself in the eye with her eyeliner multiple times, Rosa stared at her self in the mirror. Her curls were tightly defined and framed her face in the most perfect ways. Her makeup was arguably flawless. Dark smoked out eyeliner paid with a perfectly outlined lip, she looked hot hot hot. And still she just felt like it wasn't enough. Honestly, it was probably too much and deep down she knew that but something inside her told her that Gina was just going to be like everyone else. That she'd compliment how Rosa looked and take every opportunity to feel Rosa up and the moment the makeup was off and the sweats were on, she wouldn't give her the time of day. Rosa didn't want to go, she didn't want to be used again. It made her feel more alone each time it happened.

Rosa stared her reflection down and let a tear roll down her cheek. She hated how she'd subconsciously got this dressed up for a date with a tiny ginger woman who's name meant queen. Fucking queen. She sighed and wiped her eyes as to not smudge her makeup and stood up. Opening her wardrobe, Rosa rummaged through her 'depression pile' as Arizona liked to call it. She soon came to realise, however, her one decent dress had a stain on it and the other one she'd once owned, she had left at some chick's house and never actually got it back.

-

"Rosa?" Arizona answered the door. Callie and Arizona were pretty much her only family members that didn't hate her or live miles away.

"Is Callie in?" Rosa asked desperately. And as if on cue, Callie appeared behind her wife.

"Woah! Where are you going with a full face of makeup and dressed in a tracksuit?" Callie laughed slightly.

"Shut up and help me. Please." Rosa snapped, pushing past them both into their house.

"With what?" Arizona questioned.

"I've got a date in," Rosa glanced at the clock hanging in the hall. " forty three minutes and the only clean things in my wardrobe is this and a shirt that says fuck it across my fucking boobs!"

"A date?! Like an actual date?" Callie's face lit up.

"Well not at this rate!" Rosa whined.

"Come with me," Arizona grabbed Rosa's arm and led her towards the stairs. "Callie go check on the pasta." She added before pulling Rosa upstairs and fixing her up with one of her own outfits. Together, they decided on a black pencil skirt and blazer combo with a red lace bralette for a bit of colour.

"You sure this isn't abit... night club?" Rosa questioned, looking in the mirror.

"Nah you look hot." Arizona turned Rosa around to face her. "I know Callie can be a bit much sometimes but i'm really proud that you're going out tonight and if it goes south text me and i'll fake an emergency." She winked and Rosa laughed.

"Thank you, Zona." Rosa gave her a small smile and Arizona rubbed her arm.
