ten.
Running down the crowded street of New York, Rosa quickly wrapped her hair into a bun. She was late for work. Very late. But after coming back from the bathroom early that morning to find a particular red head, naked, wrapped only in the white linen of Rosa's bed sheets, her hair wild and a sleepy smile on her face, Rosa couldn't help herself. She had climbed back into bed, intern, losing three hours of her morning wrapped in bedsheets with the smaller woman. She was so late. Worth it.
She had quickly thrown some clothes on and run out the apartment after pecking Gina goodbye, leaving her a spare key so she could leave whenever. Thinking about it, this was the first time Rosa had left the house without and excessive amount of makeup on or perfect hair in years and she didn't even care. Last night, Gina had made her feel like the most beautiful woman alive, and Rosa was still on that damn high. Gina gave her a rush she hadn't felt with anyone else before.
She pushed the door open and hurried through to the back room. "I'm here! So sorry I'm late." She shed her coat and hug it up, swapping it for a black apron with a rose on the front. As she stepped back in, Rosa was met with her co-workers smirking at her.
"Walk of shame," Ethan joked.
"More like DASH of shame," Parker added and Rosa shot him a glare.
"Absolutely not. I spent the night on the sofa watching movies and overslept," Rosa said leaning against the wall. She grabbed an empty cardboard box and threw it at Parker as he snickered. "I did!"
"Your neck suggests otherwise, Diaz." Ethan said with a laugh as he removed a set of plastic gloves and disposed of them. Rosa raised an eyebrow and pulled out a hand mirror from her station's draw.
"Fuck!" She cursed as she caught sight of her olive skin littered in purple and red bruises. Ethan and Parker laughed under their breaths. "Oh, that's bad." Rosa continued to whine and slumped back into a chair.
"So, who's the lucky woman?" Parker poked, rolling over to her on his chair. "Is it that woman you went on a date with?"
"Yeah. I didn't know I was dating a vampire, fucking hell." She rubbed at the skin of her neck. "We slept together for the first-time last night." Rosa blushed as the memories of the night before and that morning came flooding back. Naked bodies, tangled in soft sheets, feeling each other for the first time.
"So, you took my advice?" Ethan stood and made their way over to her. She nodded and they patted her shoulder. "I'm proud of you, Ro." Rosa smiled up at them, tears threatening to fall at any second, but she blinked them back just in time.
"I didn't call her back." Rosa admitted as pushed Parker off his chair and sat down. The younger man huffed in defeat knowing there was no point fighting for his seat back. "She came round on her own, told me she noticed I was uncomfortable on the date and wanted to make it up to me. She brought take out, movies and snacks round and we spent the night on the sofa."
"Did you talk to her?" They used their face to imply what he meant as Parker had no idea about Jocelyn or any of Rosa's struggles.
"Yes. I did." She smiled slightly, silently letting her friend know that it went well, and she was okay. They smiled back.
"Am I the only one who has no idea what's going on here?" Parker asked, poor thing was so confused.
"Yes," Ethan and Rosa said in a deadpanned unison before turning back to work as if none of it ever happened.
"Oh, you two are so tight!" Parker whined as he shuffled into the backroom, muttering to himself about how unfair his life was.

When Rosa finally reached her apartment door, she was exhausted. Everything hurt. She hadn't had much sleep the night before, not that she was complaining, and then had spent the whole day with back-to-back clients and Parker bugging her every two seconds. She could not wait to just get into bed and crash. She'd left a spare key for Gina earlier that morning so she could lock herself out when she left. It seems like she'd done the job as the door was locked when Rosa tried it. She reached into her bag and routed around for a minute before finding her keys and lazily unlocking the apartment.
Her eyes widened as she stepped inside. Hanging up her jacket and throwing her keys onto the entry table, Rosa admired how spotless her apartment was. Her normally dirty pots? Washed up and put away, coffee rings on the counter, gone. Her rug hovered, work tops polished, draws and cupboards organised. Her bathroom was shining for the first time in years, and the medicine cabinet organised, a little note attached to Rosa's anxiety meds:
"Look after yourself, Diaz"
With a little heart and smiley face scrawled underneath. A tear ran down Rosa's cheek and she stared in disbelief at her apartment. She'd left for work and Gina had cleaned the place, top to bottom.
When she pushed her bedroom door open, something inside her lit up. Her heart warmed. Gina curled up on top of a freshly made bed, drowned in jumper Rosa spotted to be her own. She smiled softly before slipping out of her shoes and sitting on the edge of the bed. Her hand stroked the auburn locks, sprawled out across her pillow and kissed her forehead.
Gina slowed opened her eyes slightly before sitting up suddenly. "Shit! I swore I'd just rest my eyes and be up and out before you got back. I'm so sorry. I can't just stay without asking, we've only just started dating that's so rude of me. Fuck..." Continued to ramble. It was like her mouth was going quicker than her brain and she just couldn't stop.
Rosa crawled across the bed and lay behind Gina, pulling her close and colliding their bodies, making Gina the little spoon. She brushed her hair to the side and pressed a chaste kiss to her neck, trailing her lips to Gina's ear. "You're okay, Gina. You can stay here whenever you want." She kissed her again and reached to hold Gina's hand. Gina let out a long sigh and relaxed into Rosa's touch. "Thank you for cleaning. That's so thoughtful of you."
"You deserve it, Ro." Gina flipped herself over, so she was now facing Rosa and smiled up at her. Rosa smiled back and kissed her lips.
