She hated to admit it, but Rosa was nervous. She hadn't been on a real date in over three years, and this was all happening so quickly. It didn't help that Gina was late. Rosa was stood on the sidewalk, outside the shop, arms wrapped her own middle to protect her from the cold. The door behind her opened.

"Are you sure you don't want to come in and wait in here with us?" Ethan popped their head around the door.

"Yeah. I'm fine here." Rosa stated, not bothering to turn around. Ethan just shrugged and returned into the warmth. Rosa sighed and wondered whether Gina had stood her up or was really coming.

Truth is, Gina was already there. She was stood a few steps away behind a wall. She too was nervous and was debating walking away and not looking back. She hadn't made the best first impression to Rosa and didn't want to make a fool out of herself tonight. Holding a bouquet of white roses, Gina took a deep breath and turned the corner. The minute she caught sight of Rosa, her body pooled with heat and any chilliness from the cool October night in New York, was forgotten. She tugged at the bottom of her own velvet red dress which clung almost fatally to her curves.

"Rosa?" Gina said and the other woman turned to face her.

"Hey. I didn't know if you'd show," Rosa clocked an eyebrow at the flowers in Gina's hands.

"Here," Gina held the bouquet out to Rosa, desperately trying to look at anything that wasn't the woman stood Infront of her. Rosa looked beyond beautiful, and Gina's cheeks were burning up, it was embarrassing.

"Thank you. That's really nice of you, Gina." Gina nodded, still looking at the ground. They were both like nervous high schoolers that were about to admit they had a crush on one and other:

"You look really beautiful," Rosa filled the silence. Gina looked up slightly and met the woman's gaze. She felt her cheeks heat up again.

"Thank you. So do you." Gina smiled.

"Wanna get going?" Rosa asked. She could feel the boys staring at them from inside the shop.

"Yeah," Gina led the way and Rosa flipped Parker off as she disappeared out of view.

Their night went surprisingly smooth sailing. A few awkward moments of silence here and then but on the whole, the two ended up getting along perfectly and Gina even managed to get a couple of laughs out of Rosa. She took that as a win. They'd got to know each other and smaller details such as last names and what Gina did for a living. Turns out she worked a couple blocks down at the hair salon. Gina had enjoyed rambling about all the drama that she dealt with on a daily basis.

For Rosa though, she felt out of place. Not because of Gina as such, but the place she'd picked. It was posh and had quiet classical music playing in the background. Hardly anyone in there raised their voice above a whisper and it allowed Rosa to be able to hear herself think. A dangerous game when out on a 'romantic' date.

She took a deep breath in of the cool air as they finally stepped outside, something Gina took a mental note of. Finally able to breathe again, Rosa's whole body relaxed, and she sighed.

"Do you want me to walk you home?" Gina questioned after giving Rosa a minute.

"You don't need to but can if you want," Rosa gave her a small smile to reassure her she was at fault for none of this.

For a while they walked side by side in a comfortable silence. That was before Gina spotted a cat which opened up a conversation on her love for cats. Rosa happily listened to the woman and gently smiled at how excited the woman seemed. As Gina's ramble continued, Rosa slipped her arm around the smaller woman's waist, feeling a sudden need to be closer to her. Gina gasped slightly at the contact before going back to her train of thought, trying desperately not to think about the thumb that was softly stroking her hip

Before they knew it, they were outside Rosa's building.

"I'm in here," Rosa used her head to signal towards the apartment block.

"Okay." Gina said with a hint off disappointment in her voice.

"Thank you for tonight. You were really good company." Rosa removed her arm from around the woman and she immediately missed touching her.

"I should steal people's coffee more often," Gina added playfully.

"Goodnight, Gina." Rosa smiled and turned to buzz herself into the building.

"Rosa, wait!" Gina's voice piped up. Rosa turned around again and watched the smaller woman approach her. Gina looked up into Rosa's eyes, pure blue meeting a deep brown in a gaze of what could only be admiration:

"May I kiss you?" Gina whispered almost inaudibly. Rosa slowly ran her hand up Gina's forearm and nodded. The redhead slipped one hand around the back of Rosa's neck and carefully pulled her face to meet her own. Rosa's arm wrapped her arms around Gina's waist and pulled her closer to her body.

Mere seconds later, Gina's lips were locked with Rosa's like they were so perfectly made for each other. Like two pieces from the same jigsaw. Everything and anyone around them seemed to slip away in that moment. The two stood in each other's embrace, not bothering to care about the world passing by around them. It wasn't long before Rosa's tongue slipped between Gina's lips, parting them and sliding into her mouth. They explored each other more and more deeply as the seconds went by.

Gina pulled away. She pulled away and regretted it the minute she did. Nonetheless, Rosa smiled at her. "I'll see you soon, Gina."

Rosa turned away, this time getting past the doors and into her apartment block, leaving Gina stood and stunned. The redhead slowly smiled to herself before carrying on down the street.
