"Based" on Only You by Yazoo (though I didn't really base this on it this time as the lyrics didn't give me any kind of an idea, I just wrote something and used a tiny bit of lyrics as an inspiration.

You forever cursed the day you came across Steve Harrington. You cursed how your heart immediately told you that it wanted him. You had never been in love before, but somehow he immediately felt like you'll fall in love with him as soon as he'd talk one word to you, and sure enough that's exactly what happened. You still wondered how didn't anyone else notice how flustered you became all of a sudden. You definitely didn't like the feeling at first, but slowly grew into accepting that something about him drew you towards him.

You enjoyed daydreaming about him, but at the same time knowing you wouldn't be able to get him. And yet... you kept hoping anyway. Maybe because deep inside, there was this nagging feeling telling you he might feel the same way? It was probably just hopeful thinking really, but you were sure you caught Steve staring at you at times. But every time you looked at him, his gaze quickly went back downwards. So did yours too and then you both felt awkward.

The kids were smirking whenever that happened and teased you about how you started to stutter when looking at each other, but still... you tried to hold on to that it was just hopeful thinking. A dream that would never happen and you just dwelled too deep in it sometimes.

"Oh c'mon Steve!" Dustin groaned, making Steve immediately whip his head your way in fear you'll hear them. "We're sick of this, you're obviously drooling after each other, just ask them out already."

"No need to scream it," Steve hushed, making Max hold in her laughter beside Dustin. "Okay, I may like them, but..."

"No buts anymore, you go there right now and ask them out!" Dustin pushed him, grinning wildly.

Steve huffed, glancing your way again, but you seemed to be too deep in discussion with Nancy to hear them. "What if they say no?"

Max rolled her eyes, butting into the discussion. "Have you seen how they look at you?" she asked him bluntly. "There's no way they could say no. They'd be probably screaming inside if you did that." Dustin snickered at that, nodding in agreement with Lucas.

Steve sighed, looking at you for a moment longer, trying to gather up enough courage to approach.

"Where's Steve the Tiger?" Dustin asked and Steve turned to look at him with an arched eyebrow. "The one who could charm anyone and everything under the sun? Where is he? Oh wait, he got replaced by this boring guy who quivers in front of his newest crush." He gave Steve a nudge on his shoulder which made him huff.

"'Steve the Tiger' didn't respect relationships, he just wanted to bed people as quickly as possible." He replied, but Dustin only smirked.

"I didn't say you have to be the old Steve the Tiger, you know... it would just be fun to see the new and improved version."

Steve frowned, knowing he still had the charming skills within him. Maybe he could go up and just... talk to you, seek for those signs others said were all over your face when you looked at him? And if he saw those, he could try to ask you out.

"Okay, I'll go once they've done talking with Nancy." he finally promised and Dustin raised his eyebrows at him.

"Aaaand if you won't?"

"...you may punch me."

"Deal."
