Eddie Munson- Prom: Part 2 (c)
Normally you weren't one to dress up or do anything elaborate with your hair, but you were desperate to be seen, even if it was just by one person. You wanted to be beautiful and to feel like a princess and although you knew that an extravagant gown and makeup wasn't going to be the best answer, you were going to make the most of the night.
Once you were in your gown, you struggled to stop twirling around your living room, letting the layers of the skirts rustle around your legs and float up as you moved. You moment of innocent joy was broken when you heard a knock on the front door. You instantly panicked. For as long as you could remember you had liked Eddie as more than a friend and you hoped that he would feel the same, but you always doubted it. You knew that getting him to be your date to a dance that he didn't want to go to, wasn't going to change anything, but you couldn't help how your heart fluttered at the thought of him.
With a deep breath for courage, you opened the door. There stood your best friend, the one person you had wanted as your date even if it was as a friend. He wore an ill-fitting suit, his tie not done up around his neck rather just draped there and his normal messy curls pulled back in a ponytail to try and tame it.
"Woah," he whispered as he looked you up and down, taking in every inch of you. "You look... woah."
"Is that a good thing?" You laughed, looking down to avoid his gaze.
Eddie couldn't help the grin that grew on his face. "It's amazing. You look stunning."
Your cheeks begun to feel warm at the compliment. It wasn't as if he hadn't been complimentary to you before, but this was different, maybe he didn't just see you as his friend, but a girl who he could like.
"You look very handsome," you responded. "I didn't even know you had a suit."
"That's because I don't," he chuckled, attempting to run a hand through his messy hair but getting caught due to the bobble holding it in. "It's Wayne's, it's the best I could get on short notice."
He looked different but somehow the same. It was unlike him to wear a suit, but he looked comfortable in the lazily tucked in shirt, still donning his silver rings and holey old shoes.
"D-do you need help with your tie?" You asked, gesturing to the fabric draped around his neck.
His eyes widened, having forgotten about it. "Oh... yeah... Wayne had left, and I've never needed to do one."
You offered him a gentle smile, taking a step towards him, your skirts falling atop his shoes. You reached up and tied the tie for him, feeling his breathing hitch as your fingers grazed over his chest.
"There you go," you smiled softly, trying to calm the heat that was overwhelming your face.
"Thanks... erm, we should get going, right?"
You nodded your head.
