ATEM finds some more secrets n' Akai makes a new 'friend'.

I closed my textbook finally finished on my chemistry project, a five-page assignment on the formation of crystals.

I heard a knock on the door and went downstairs, I hadn't heard from my grandfather in a month and he hasn't picked up whenever I've called. I've gotten really worried, I hoped Oka didn't brainwash him or anything like that.

I opened the door to see the owner of the house, I was surprised since Oka was supposed to be paying house rent. 

At that moment I realized that I hadn't received any money in the past month. I assumed she just said that to convince him to go with her. I should've known she wouldn't pay, that evil, little cockroach.

"Good afternoon sir, how can I help you"

"Where's your grandfather at? He has to pay his rent"

I cursed Oka in my mind. Hopefully, he would let me stay until someone else rented it.

"He's traveling but you were supposed to receive a payment from him"

"Well I ain't receive no paycheck missy"

"I don't have any money-"

"Well pack your bags cause you ain't staying here"

I realized protesting was a bad idea and fled upstairs softly weeping, I grabbed my suitcases and packed my stuff. Placing my scuba stuff into its special bag I carried my stuff downstairs and handed the key to the owner.

I sat on the sidewalk thinking where I would go, the college dorms were not a good idea as I always got teased for loving marine life. I couldn't stand being called a fish girl again, I was about to cry but then I realized I was out in the open and swallowed my fears.

I jumped as a car horn beeped right in front of me and I looked up to see Kaiba, he looked at me confused, rolling his eyes before finally talking.

"Get in the freaking car"

I obliged feeling embarrassed on the sidewalk by myself, pushing my stuff in the trunk before getting in.

"Where's your grandfather?" 

"He's… Traveling"

"He didn't even tell me he was leaving, I'm disappointed that my best scientist quit"

"Well, he didn't exactly say he was quitting…"

I kept my gaze downward, our last encounter wasn't all that memorable. I decided to tell him what happened, who else is there...and it's waaaay cheaper than a therapist.

"I sorta don't have anywhere to live now"

"And why are you telling me this?"

"You let me ride with you, so you must feel a slight fragment of pity"

"Why should I help you?" He scoffed.

"Cause I'm possibly your next best scientist"

"Nice one, I'll consider your situation" He chuckled.

He pressed the GPS and before I knew it we were driving off, I watched as my childhood home disappeared in the distance. 

I hugged myself, in hopes of soothing my breaking heart. It hadn't been more than fifteen minutes when we stopped. I looked out the window to see the most beautiful beach house.

He got into the car and opened the truck taking out an expensive-looking suitcase. I followed, taking in my suitcases and went inside the house behind him.

I looked around at the beauty of the house, it had two floors and a beautiful view of the ocean.

"I can stay here?"

He chuckled before going upstairs, I followed after him waiting for a response.

"As long as I'm forced to stay here"

Wait, he would be staying here with me? Did he not trust me by myself? Did he think I would steal the stuff in here?

"What do you mean 'as long you're staying here'?"

"Why should I tell you my business?"

I stood in silence not knowing what to say, forwarding my gaze towards the floor. His overconfident demeanor caught me off guard and shyness was slowly flooding my body.

He smirked.

"That's what I thought"

I looked up to see him stride into a room closing it behind him rather loudly. I put my suitcases into my room, closed my door and sat on the bed. My hands were sweating and a headache flooded my senses.

That's when I realized how stressed I really was, I reminisced on all of my tribulations. My only family is traveling for two months with no kind of contact, I lost my childhood home and had a near-death experience. All in one month, can things get any worse?

I needed to get my mind off this endless loop of misfortunes, I walked down to the beach. Feeling the welcoming breeze luring me closer to the shore.

I took off my slippers and stepped into the warm sand that spread beneath my feet. I walked until the water touched my ankles and enjoyed the cool breeze caressing my face.

            ------POV CHANGE------

I ducked under some coral controlling my breathing before I was spotted, I wouldn't have gone this way if I knew there were so many guards.

I stayed hidden until the guard's heartbeats got faint, and I didn't have much time as my father said he wanted to talk to me in 1,000 heartbeats.

I swam as fast as I could to get away from any other guards that I might not have heard. I could see the fallen wall of the castle when I suddenly felt myself swimming faster than usual.

It felt like an endurance boost and I reached the castle in half the time that I normally would. When I went inside the throne room I felt a sudden load of tiredness. I sat on the edge and regained my strength.

I swam back through the hole and I didn't feel drowsy anymore. I searched below me for something out of the ordinary and spotted a large red boulder. 

"This is the largest piece of Jasper I've ever seen"

I ran my hands along the front until I realized it had an unnatural hole. I took a closer look and realized it took the shape of a hand.

My instincts told me to put my hand there and I listened. It started glowing very bright, so much that I had to shield my eyes.

When I was able to see, the jasper had split in half and there was a slope going downwards.

I made sure no one was following me before going down the mysterious slope.

           ------POV CHANGE------

"Akai?"

I turned around startled by the sudden disturbance in silence.

"K-Kaiba, you scared me"

He walked until he was beside me, I couldn't help but stare. It was my first time seeing him calm and relaxed. 

I looked back at the sea, the seemingly calming waves as the sun came closer to the horizon creating a bright orange hue.

"My doctor"

"Huh" 

I said puzzled again startled by the disruption of silence.

"My doctor says I need a… Vacation from work"

"How long?"

"She said a week but it'll be hard to relax knowing my best scientist is gone"

"Why do you need a vacation?"

"She says I'm to stressed, but work never ends when you run a business like mine"

"So am I you live in nurse or something"

He chuckled.

"If you want you can call it that but don't expect me to act like I can't do shit"

"I expected nothing less from someone of your status"

"What's that supposed to mean"

"Well it means people think big douchebags like you have people do everything for them"

" *Scoffs* I only hire people for things I can't do myself since work takes up most of my time"

"So is it true Seto Kaiba's ego can't fit in his mansion?"

"Heh, you have no idea"

Silence once again took over and the sound of waves splashing and the wind blowing was the only thing filling our minds.

                   ------POV------

'OH, MY RA I have just made a huge discovery. I have found special types of crystals that can grant abilities when touched.

BUT there are also VERY rare ones which can grant an ability when in their magical aura.

I have done several tests and matched the gems to their respective power:

Speed                           => Jasper

Strength                      => Quartz

Telekinesis.                 => Emerald

Water manipulation => Lapis Lazuli

Ice manipulation.      => Sapphire

And a diamond grants all of these effects but I cannot find one as yet.'

"THAT'S IT?"

I threw the book out of rage but quickly regretted it, grabbing it before it could knock the emerald off its stand.

This was the first time I was reading my mother's handwriting in 8 years. I read the journal over again and one thing was stuck in my mind. 

Telekinesis

Maybe I could contact Akai, I grabbed an emerald and a string of dead seaweed. I wrapped it around the emerald and put it around my neck.

I imagined Akai in my head and hoped she would get my message as I swam back home. It's been 800 heartbeats already and it would take 100 to get back without alerting any guards.

And if I couldn't get back in time there would be hell to pay.

Long chapter I know buuuuut I have the next few chapters planned out  meaning the story has a plot that I'm trying to get to without rushing so hopefully I can do it byeeee
