Chapter 2- a real mystery

it was my birthday once again. i turned 2o years old yesterday and we were recovering from the rough party last night. "Hey sophie, nice party". said knuckles as he fell to the floor. i sat in a chair and saw everyone laughing and having a good time with each other. i saw shadow with maria, laughing and tickling her. i started to smile, but then realized something. "this won't last forever". i then began to look at the floor. i then got up and went to the door. "hey what's wrong"? asked sonic. "nothing". i responded back and ran outside. i went to the water fountain (as usual) and settled down. (obviously, shadow was right behind me). "you ok"? shadow asked as he held maria. "yeah, i'm fine". i fake smiled. "i can tell your lying sophie, so give it up". "Also......Mind reader". i then slapped my forehead. (duh sophie, of course he's gonna know). "ok fine shadow, you win". i gave up. "that's what i thought". he smirked. "So what's wrong"? "i'm not always gonna be around". shadow gave me a confused look. "what does that mean"? "it means........one day i'm gonna die and you will always be alive". "your immortal shadow, lucky you". Shadow then set maria down on the the ground and stood up with a serious, straight face. "you think that's lucky"?!? What the HELL, Sophie"? "if i can't die, that means i can't see maria again and if you die..........". he then stopped. "I can't believe you said that". Shadow then ran off. "Shadow........Wait"! i yelled. he was gone out of site. (what have i done this time?) i then heard whispers from behind me. i then heard maria screaming. i turned around and saw a figure, wearing a black hoodie, picked her up. "Let her go"! i yelled. i chaos blasted the figure, but he vanished. (where did he go?) he reappeared from behind and chaos blasted me across the yard. he then appeared in front of me and picked me up with his free hand. His hand started glowing orange. i suddenly felt very weak. as soon as the glowing stopped, He threw me on the ground. "maria.......no". i whispered in pain. i reached out my hand to her, but the figure laughed and shot a chaos spear at me. i then passed out.   Shadow's point-of-view: can't believe sophie would say something so.............wrong like that! It drives me insane! "Shadow, don't you think your overreacting just a little bit"? asked sonic. i then thought for a moment. "maybe your right". "i'm always right". "don't push it". i immediately said. "i better go find her and talk to her; besides, this is sophie were talking about here, i'm pretty sure she didn't mean it in a bad way". "i'll go with you". said sonic. "to make sure you cool your jets". (i don't know if i should throw him in a nearby lake on the way, or take him down old school,  when we get back). i then walked out with sonic beside me. We then heard footsteps heading our way. "silver". said sonic casually. i then noticed something in his hands. (it was sophie). "i was on my way back form jogging, when i saw her passed out on the ground"! We both gasped. (Wait, where's maria?) "where's my daughter"?!? i yelled worriedsome. (enough to get everyone's attention). "if something happens to her, i'll......i'll". i then paused and punched the ground, with a growl to go with it. silver then layed sophie on the ground. "i can't lose another maria". "i just can't". (and this is the honest to go truth). Amy came running out and examined her. "it looks like the energy was drained out of her". Amy then pulled out a pink looking type of medicine. she then spoon fed it into sophie's mouth. sophie started glowing pink. as soon as it stopped, sophie opened her eyes and regained her strength. "sophie, thank god your alright". i said hugging her. "someone took maria and this person can do chaos powers". "who was it"? asked knuckels, running out the door and towards us. "sorry, got nosey". "i don't know, he wore a black hoodie". "so you don't know anything about him"? i asked. "all i know is that he can do chaos powers and drain the energy out of others". (this certainly is a mystery. who is now a rival to us and what do they want witjh my daughter?) "let's get the chaotix team to help". i decided. we all agreed. "do you think maria is gonna be ok"? said sophie sobing. she started to cry. all i could do is hug her, because for the first time in forever, i don't know the answer.
