Creative Writing teacher: *already talking about books by Emily Dickinson and how she got them from the library since they were going to throw it away* Oh! Did I tell you about my addiction to serial killers?

*class is silent and wide-eyed in confusion about her comment.*

Teacher: Well, I'm reading this book about serial killers in Madison and it is so good! I just really have an addiction to it . . . I do need to get out of this phase but I just can't help it!

Me: *sighs in relief when I realize it is just a book about serial killers and not the serial killer himself.
