Apparently I'm a witch.

Yeah, right.

I got this letter from a school named "Hogwarts", which, admittedly, sounds like it was founded by some tipsy farmers, saying that I had been accepted at this so-called "magic school" when we hadn't even applied there! I'd never heard of it until a couple of hours ago, and now... I guess I have to go there.

Then, mere minutes after that, I opened the door to collect (the rest of) the mail, when a woman appeared right in front of me. Dusting herself off, she spoke.

"Genevieve Bond?" she asked.

"Uh..." I tried to form a response. "Who... who's asking?"

"Me, in case you didn't notice."

I gulped. "Yeah, I am. Who are you?"

"Professor McGonagall, headmistress at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Are your parents home?"

"Yeah, they are, they're inside, would you like me to get them, or...?"

"Would it be alright if I came in? What I'm about to tell you is a lot to process."

I nodded and let her through. "Mum!" I called. "Someone's here for you!"
