Prologue
A/n: Hi! This is my very first book, which has been discontinued, but unlike my other discontinued books, I haven't deleted this one because it's my first actual story. So, I'm keeping this for memories. What I'm not keeping is my old, horrible writing! So, I have made this new prologue, and I've edited all the other chapters as well. Hope you enjoy!

Alex Orphelin. She was born twenty-four years ago, with shiny brown eyes and stunning brown hair. Nobody knows anything else except that, but you, you're lucky...
... you get to know everything about her.
Her real story started off as a happy one. She was a happy child. Although she lived in a hidden village in the woods, she always found a way to entertain herself and her younger sister - Callie - for hours.
That's until they found out about her magic.
It wasn't powerful, or one of a Spirit Mender, but it was still harmful, like one of a monster. Her parents kept her hidden in their house for awhile, to keep her powers safe, but when Alex turned eighteen, her father was fed up. Her mom had died years before, and her father hated putting up with Alex's ridiculous powers.
"It's devil's work!" Mr. Orphelin had screamed, drinking from a glass bottle Alex had no idea what was filled with, "Your stupid magic has NO room in my household! OUT, DEMON!"
It was all so sudden, but expected. Alex had packed her bags and started out, when her sister stopped her.
"No! Dad, you can't do this!" Callie exclaimed.
"YES! I caann!" His words slurred. "You get out too! For all we know, you could be a monster too!"
Hurt by her father's words, Callie had left with her older sister.
They walked through the woods, talking. Talking soon came to arguing, and arguing came to fighting. Strong punches were thrown by Alex as her eyes turned red and her skin like metal. That was her magic - a magic she is greatly ashamed of.
Alex had eventually left her sister injured in the woods, but after she had came to her senses, she ran back... only to find she was too late.
There, surrounded by wolves, was her sister's dead body.
Crying, she had murdered the wolves one by one, but that revenge could never make up for what she had done. Alex tried to blame her sister's death on her father, or the wolves, but there was only one person she could blame: herself.
What started the argument was forgotten with time, and all that was left was regret. Alex fled to the city only to find a comfortable apartment in which she lived in thanks to the money she snuck away from her drunk father. She had owned a computer, phone, and TV, but had no friends. Everyone thought she was a lonely freak, and Alex believed them. She was, after all, a monster.
After awhile of living in the city, Alex had eventually found out more about Spirits, Spirit Menders, and monsters. She had become infatuated with them, and actually thought there were people out there who would relate to her.
So, Alex set off to Oria, a village right next to the Amethyst Spirit Mender tribe. Instead of living among them, though, she became a researcher of them with a group of new friends by her side. She hid her power along the way.
Life was great for Alex, but with great friendships, there are hardships...
