Chapter 7: Her Real Name
Italics are thoughts...
Leo's POV (Yay! Let's find out all of his secrets.... Just kidding.)
I watch as the girl kept on talking. "Well, that's Alex for you." Is that her real name? "I don't really talk with people I just met. Mostly because I don't want to confuse them or scare them away with all my knowledge on spirit menders."
She knows a lot about Spirit Menders? Well then, she would gain a lot of attention in my village. They know NOTHING about menders... Well, they do know a few things, but they would love to find out more. Speaking of love, I kind of miss my village. Everyone being cheerful and kind. Unlike that rude guy. Oh great, now I'm thinking a lot too. And I'm not listening to her! Gosh, I'm just as rude as- I cut my thoughts off at the sound of nothing.
I looked to where the smart girl - Alex, right? - used to be, she was gone.
I need to find her! What if that 'thing' came to get her? But I can't leave this little one...
I decided to just yell out her name.
"Alex! Alex!"
Alex's POV
I heard Cute yelling out. "Alex! Alex!" And I froze for a second.
Hearing my name come out from a stranger's mouth had always felt weird to me, but when he did it... it felt like it was supposed to come out of his mouth. I'm crazy, I know.
He must've finally noticed I was gone...
"Yeah?" I called back.
"Alex!" I could hear the relief in his voice, "Where are you?" He asked.
I came out of the forest behind him. "Hey," I greeted as I took a seat beside the little one. I quickly checked her pulse rate.
Still breathing...
"Heh, you had me worried there," Cute chuckled, sitting down beside me.
"Well, you shouldn't' have. I could take care of myself."
"Yeah, but all you have is your bare hands. I have the revolver. If that 'thing' came back and hurt you, I would've blamed myself."
I didn't have a response for that except, "Yeah, whatever." I faced the other way, and I felt him stare at my back. I sighed. "What do you want?" I asked.
"I want to know you... can I at least ask a few questions?" Cute replied.
I shrugged. "Fine, but if your questions start becoming senstive, I'm dropping the conversation." I turned back to him.
He nodded, smiling. "First question: what's your real name?"
"Alex Orphelin," I muttered.
He nodded, "That's actually beautiful... your real name."
I smiled a bit. "Thanks. Now, what's yours?"
"Leo. My name is Leo."
