Chapter 6: Thinking And Talking
Italics are thoughts...
"We can't lift her yet," Cute said while blocking us from picking up the girl. "We might hurt her. We need to get her medical help now."
"We need to get her out of here now," Girl argued calm but serious. I agreed. She smiled at me, then continued, "Don't you remember that... 'thing', from before?"
"I do... but like I said, if we lift her, we might hurt her," Cute explained.
"But-" Girl started. She then sighed. "Fine. I'll run back to the village."
Her? She wasn't THAT fast when we were coming here.
"You?" I asked, vocalizing my thoughts.
"Yeah, you sure you're fast enough?" Cute finished for me.
She smiled. "Trust me."
"Alright....." I trailed off, unsure.
"Fine." Cute stated, way more sternly than I did, "I have a revolver in case that 'thing' comes back. I'll be of more use to her here. Now go!"
Girl turned to me. "Will you be alright?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I mean, I will be if he protects me. But judging by the way he's talked to me so far, I'll be fine." She then turned around and ran. Wow, she is fast.
"I'm guessing you trust me, huh?" Cute spoke up.
"It's either you or myself, and I'm not good with a gun," I admit.
"Alright. I hope she comes back soon."
I smiled a bit. "Why? You don't think I'm good conversationalist?"
"No, I mean, yes, but, not that you aren't- ugh," I chuckled at how flustered he had gotten. "Well, from what I've gathered, you actually aren't a good conversationalist. You're always thinking all the time."
I thought about what he said for a minute. He's right... I think a lot.
"This is EXACTLY what I mean!" He exclaimed.
"Well, that's Alex for you. I don't really talk with people I just met. Mostly because I don't want to confuse them or scare them away with all my knowledge on spirit menders. I don't talk about them that much... it's just when people ask about it, I start blabbering and talking, and I eventually scare them away. I don't mean to! It just.... happens. Also, I'm a little, no A LOT, sensitive about my past. I never tell anyone so-" I then realize he's staring into space.
He must've zoned out on me... Wait... did I just tell him my real name?!
I sighed and went around to scout the area for.... anything, really. Anything that would distract me from Cute, talking, or using my magic abilities.
