EIGHTEEN: FUGITIVES

If you told Wyatt that he was gonna ride down the streets like a madman rushing to the future, he'd tell you that you'd be insane.

However, two 13-12-year-olds sped down the middle of the road on their bikes, panicked and screaming bloody murder into a walkie-talkie.

"We're still out of range?!" Wyatt shouted to Lucas, keeping his best to stay at the same pace as him as they pedaled forward. "For the love of shit! Answer!"

"Of course, we're still out of range!" Lucas said in exasperation like he was angry at the whole world in general for making things take very very bad turns. "Of course we are! Son of bitch!"

They'd spent their entire time running sick through the forest with their bikes and pedaling back into town trying to get ahold of Dustin or Mike.

"Lucas, if you can hear us, slow down," came Mike's voice through their speakers. "We can't understand you."

"Yes, I copy!" Lucas yelled. "Wyatt's with me! We copy! Do you?"

Wyatt couldn't even wait for a response and instead shouted at his own comm, "Look! Mike! They know about El! I repeat! They know about El! They know she's been to your house! Get out of there! The bad men are coming! All of them!"

Nothing came in over the speakers and Lucas growled. "Do you hear me?! The bad men are coming!"

The super comm stayed silent, and Wyatt pushed himself to pedal faster because their lack of response made his breathing absolutely worst.

"GUYS?!" He yelled out of the top of his lungs, "THIS IS IMPORTANT! If you can hear us, please FUCKING ANSWER!"

"We're too far out of range!" Lucas said angrily. "We've gotta hurry and just hope they heard us!"

"Please...Mike...Dustin.." Wyatt's eyes lowered, rejecting the thought of them being kidnapped and rearing his head.

They biked on for a few more blocks, panting and ignoring the strange looks they got from anyone who saw them. Then their speakers crackled and they heard Dustin's voice come in over the static.

"Oh, my God. Oh, my god. Oh, my god!"

"Dustin!" Lucas exclaimed, making Wyatt look over at him with a glee of hope as Lucas leaned towards his comm. "Dustin, do you copy?"

"Yeah, Lucas, they're on us!" He said, and Wyatt could hear his labored breathing.

"Where are you?" Lucas asked.

"Cornwallis!"

"Meet us at Elm and Cherry!" He told them, taking the lead in front of Wyatt.

"Copy. Elm and Cherry!"

"Hurry, Wyatt!"

"I'm hurrying!" Wyatt panted, trying to not fall off his bike. Now you're probably wondering how they got into this mess. Well it all started a while back

AFTER THE FALLOUT WITH EL AND MIKE

Upon arriving at Lucas's house it was already turning dark. Wyatt followed Lucas inside the house, greeting both Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair when he saw them in the living room.

"Wyatt!" Mr. Sinclair spoke up, getting up to greet him. "Didn't know you were coming over."

"Sorry, dad, it was a last-minute thing." Lucas apologized.

"Are you staying for dinner, son?" He asked him, patting him on the back.

"Well....I was hoping if I could stay the night with him. Mom is out and...I decided to have a sleepover with Lucas."

"Of course, he can stay. Wyatt is always welcomed here."

The stay wasn't bad, just dinner and questioned but the two boys had to take out any parts of the boys, El or the freak, and Will altogether sadly. When Mrs. Sinclair asked about Mike and Dustin, they quickly brushed it aside and skipped to the next topic. After dinner, they spent time cleaning up around before heading upstairs.

Once they were in his room Lucas let out a sigh of relief, "I thought we would never get out of there."

Wyatt let out a small laugh, "Yeah, especially with the numerous questions. I'm surprised you didn't slip."

"I'm more surprised you didn't slip."

"So," Wyatt questioned after moments of silence between the two. "What do we do now?"

Lucas sighed, "The lose wants to chase after some freak.

"Huh?" Lucas turned to the boy, "What do you mean?"

"Like....do we give up?" Wyatt asked, mixes of hope and guilt in his voice. "I don't want to deal with Wheeler but-"

"But nothing," Lucas scoffed, crossing his arms. "The loser wanted to chase after some freak to get under her dress. I was wrong to think they were my friends."

"I know," Wyatt nods. "But Will?"

Lucas paused, "You're right.....We're still gonna find him because Will would've helped out and made some sense around. He got nothing to do with our frustration with Wheeler and Henderson. Till then, I'm more so in the mood to be reading a comic."

Wyatt gave a faint nod, giving his best friend a small smile as Lucas glorifying yelled, "Aha! Found it!"

Lucas grinned. "Yeah!"

The two lay beside each other and shared the spider-man comic, taking turns reading the pages as they eventually rested for the night.

It was around one in the afternoon, when the two boys woken up, they spent their first act awake making treats. It was something Wyatt had always done to try and relieve himself from stress or anxiety. Cooking and making food was always good for him to feel a sense of control or freedom, something he rarely ever feels as at most he was more so pure-pressured.

Wyatt and Lucas were currently sitting at the dining table eating rice crispy treats they had made the night before. Mr. Sinclair had already gone to work. Mrs. Sinclair was dropping Erica at her friend Tina's house so it was just them.

Lucas went to go put their bowls in the sink. When they heard the doorbell go off. When Lucas opened the door, he looked less than impressed. He glanced over the two which he was certain were Mike and Dustin

"What do you want?"

This was gonna go south. Wyatt already knew it.

When Mike said nothing, Dustin smacked his shoulder lightly and sent him a look. Mike sighed loudly and said,

"I drew first blood, so..."

He held out his hand for Lucas to shake.

Usually, that's as far as it got. The moment the hand was extended like a white truce flag being waved out on the battlefield, it was over. The fight was done and everything went back to normal.

But Lucas just...stared at it. As though Mike even had the audacity to ask for forgiveness.

Yeah, this is going haywire.

They ended up in Lucas's living room where he could "think it over". However, Wyatt knew Lucas more than any of the two, so he already speculated what his answer was.

Finally, Lucas turned to Mike and Dustin, who stood in front of him and nodded.

"Okay, I'll shake."

Oh? Wyatt watched from the rocking chair as Dustin grinned and Mike held out his hand again.

"On one condition. We forget the weirdo and go straight to the gate."

And there it was.

Wyatt frowned, watching Mike withdraw his hand in an instant as his defenses for Eleven rose up high.

"Then the deal's off!"

"Fine!" Lucas yelled.

"Fine!" Mike shouted back, already turning to leave.

Dustin grabbed his shoulder and spun him back around, shaking his head so hard his hat nearly fell off. "No, no, not fine! Guys, seriously?"

If honestly, Wyatt stood in the middle of the conflict, his only mind kept pondering the Upside Down and Will as Dustin continues,

"Do you even remember what happened on the Bloodstone Pass?" Dustin asked.

Wyatt furrowed his eyebrows. As if for that one moment they could put aside their differences,

"We couldn't agree on what path to take, so we split up the party," Dustin reminded them. "And those trolls took us out one by one. And it all went to shit. And we were all disabled! So we stick together, no matter what!"

"Yeah, I agree," Lucas said, "But this is the party, right here in this room. The four of us! One missing!"

"El is one of us now," Mike said.

"Uh, no, she's not," Lucas said matter-of-factly. "Not even close! Never will be. She's a liar, a traitor-"

"She was just trying to keep us safe! She didn't mean to hurt you, it was an accident!"

Lucas raised his eyebrows. "An accident?" he asked incredulously.

"All right," Dustin cut in to try and simmer them both down, "Accident or not...admit it, it was a little awesome."

"Seriously?" Wyatt sighed.

"Awesome?"

"Yeah, she threw you in the air with her mind!"

"He could have been killed!"

"Which is exactly why we need her," Mike argued. "She's a weapon! Do you seriously wanna fight the Demogorgon with your wrist rocket? That's like R2-D2 going to fight Darth Vader. We're no use to Will if we're dead."

"That's not the point Mike!" Wyatt shouted. "El may have tried to help but she didn't!"

"She lied, lied, and lied, and if you two wanna waste your time looking for a traitor, go ahead," Lucas told them. "Cause I'm not spending my time on her anymore. No way!"

He glanced over to Wyatt, before turning back to them and stating with finality, "Wyatt and I are going to the gate. And we're going to find Will."

Wyatt glanced at Lucas, shoving his way in between Mike and Dustin harshly before looking at Dustin and Mike himself. Wyatt gave them frown a guilty frown before grabbing his bag behind him and heading out to follow Lucas.

While he thought he felt he might've been too harsh on El, he did felt what she did wasn't the right move.

Still, I shouldn't have said what I said...

Never really explained Wyatt's connection within the group well it's more interesting with Mike but if you asked him, he might say Lucas is who he spends time with. It's either him or Dustin. While Wyatt and Dustin were labeled in the party as 'the Geek bros'.

Wyatt and Lucas were close based on their ideas and skills of survivalists, though Wyatt admitted that Lucas would survive more than him. Wyatt was really most to second due to skills learned from his mother.

Wyatt had his own hunting knife that Lucas secretly gave him, he remembered the knife scaring the hell out of him when Lucas showed him during his last birthday but he still felt it was wise to keep it. Thank god, he made that decision.

They also grabbed binoculars, spare batteries as well as their iconic weapons.

They walked their bikes down the driveway, and paused long enough to watch a man climb out of a white van that had the words Hawkins Power and Light on the side. They were parked in front of Mike's house, and the driver gave them a short wave.

Lucas waved and Wyatt nodded at him. He went back to his business, rounding to the back of the van, and they watched him for a second longer before turning away.

Wyatt looked at the compass they'd taped to her bike handles and pointed towards the fake North.

"The gates that way," Wyatt called out to him. Lucas gave a nod, signaling him to follow.

Lucas and Wyatt followed their broken compasses North, straight into the woods, walking along the short strip of the paths they had been walking on the day before and just before Wyatt even suggested that North was movin' again, Lucas pointed out that they were in new territory.

Wyatt nods, "Right. It's a miracle you were here."

Lucas smiles, "I already know you can't handle a day without me."

Wyatt rolls his eyes, "Shut up."

Eventually, they spotted a chain link fence about twice as tall as them, with barbed wire along the top and big signs saying to keep out. They slowed to a stop as they neared it, giving their sore and aching legs somewhat of a rest compared to their long day of walking or biking.

"Look," Lucas muttered, tapping at the compass on his handles. "It's moving."

The little arrow thing inside kept swinging back and forth, like it couldn't quite decide which way it should point.

"Think this is it?" Wyatt asked him.

"I don't know," he said, eyeing the fence, Wyatt eyeing at it too. "Wanna jump it?"

Wyatt shrugged, "I don't know how we would because there's barbed wire, but I think it's worth a shot."

"I mean can just walk along until we can find something," Lucas suggested.

Wyatt quickly nods, "Yeah that works but the question is what's that gonna be?"

"Wanna go left?"

"Left it is then," Wyatt shrugged, dragging his bike through the leaves at their feet. Lucas didn't so much as look up from the compass as they walked, both holding on tightly to their bikes.

"Relax Wy," Lucas assured him. "It never strayed too far from the north on the bright side. So long as it never took a 180, we're going the right way."

Wyatt slowly nods, following behind him, looking through the fence to see if he could spot anything suspicious, and re-reading the same two signs that were plastered every 20 feet. Not to mention the normal warnings to keep out.

They reached the corner of the fence and soon enough, Lucas rounded it without an ounce of seconds.

"Wy!" Lucas called out. Wyatt stood by his side and followed him as he backed the bike back around the corner, showing him the compass. "It still points north when you round the corner. North always points towards the fence."

"So is the gate in there?" Wyatt pointed at the chain link fence.

Lucas furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. "It has to be. If what Mr. Clarke said was true, whatever's disrupting the magnetic field is in there. And the gate has to be what's disrupting the magnetic field."

"Doesn't look like the gate to you does it?" he mused. "Not saying I know what it looks like but shouldn't it be....you know... noticeable?"

"I wouldn't say that gate was exactly huge," Lucas stated blandly, giving him a look.

"Well, yeah, but this is the gate. I think it would be bigger, ya know?"

"It's not like we can see that far into it anyway," he shook his head. "Who knows what's actually on this property. We need to scope it out."

"Great but just one question. How are we going to do that?" Wyatt asked, watching as he lowered his bike to the ground and gestured for his friend to do the same.

"We don't exactly have a great vantage point," Lucas told him, looking around quickly in the air before pointing behind him. "That's why we're going to use a tree."

"What tree?"

"That tree." Lucas pointed.

Wyatt turned around and his eyes widened at the said tree, "That's huge."

"Scared?" Lucas teased.

Wyatt shook his head, "No. Just a bit unease to climb with the risk of falling."

"Don't be a scardy cat." Lucas teased once more. "Besides, I'll catch you if you fall."

"Oh wow, my hero," Wyatt rolled his eyes.

It took a bit of work to get them both up, as there weren't exactly footholds to use.

But at last, Lucas gave Wyatt a boost of the lowest limp they could reach and he had to help him up without falling by reaching his body down and grabbing him up. There were several close calls but they were able to make it out onto one sturdy branch that gave them a better view than on the ground.

"There are people going in," Wyatt pointed. Lucas uses his binoculars to see the direction.

"A huge satellite dish on the roof. Big trucks. Military ones."

"It's government property?" Wyatt asked. "What's happening there?"

"And there's...shit!"

"Shit?" Wyatt asked, jumping up straight as Lucas shoved the binoculars to Wyatt's eyes making him notice what the 'shit' he was referring to.

"Oh...oh god! We gotta go!"

"No shit!"

Both hurriedly moved to climb down to the ground, running towards the bike and making a hasty paste.

THE PRESENT

They turned into Cherry and got about halfway down the street before suddenly Dustin and Mike, with El behind him came speeding onto the street from the gap.

"Shit!" Wyatt exclaimed, slamming his feet down on the cement to slow himself down. He and Lucas tired squealed against the ground as they pulled themselves to a stop, and Lucas rammed into his handlebars with his momentum while he almost tipped over on his bike.

"Where are they?" Lucas asked breathlessly, and Mike stammered out his response.

"I—I don't know," he said, panic on the edge of his tone.

"I think we lost them," Dustin said, and not a moment later they heard the sound of loud engines behind them.

"You just had to jinx it, did you Dustin!" Wyatt exclaimed. They looked over their shoulders to see several of the Hawkins Power and Lightvans about to turn onto the very street they sat.

"Go, go, go!" Mike yelled at them all, jerking into motion so fast that Eleven had to tighten her grip on his shoulders lest she falls off.

Wyatt forced himself to move again after the short-lived break as Mike constantly yelled at them to keep going while Dustin was shouting out cuss words and Lucas pedaled behind Wyatt as he did his best to keep up with Dustin and Mike.

Wyatt chanced a glance behind him to see the three vans closing in on them and joined Dustin in his never-ending hail of curse words and all-out screaming, seeing a fourth van swerve into them at full speed.

However, the group was caught off-guard when the van heading their way suddenly went airborne, flipping over their heads completely. As the three vans were blocked and far enough, no one said anything as they kept biking forward, only giving each other varying looks of shock and confusion.

He turned back to look at El, who turned back forward to look over Mike's shoulder. Obviously, she was the one who did it and for the second time, Wyatt found it cool.

"Holy shit!"

They didn't stop biking until they reached the junkyard, and Wyatt was the first to finally throw his bike to the ground and collapsed next to it with Lucas and Dustin doing the same beside him.

"Holy shit! Did you see what she did to that van?" Dustin exclaimed, glazing at El happily.

"No, Dustin," Mike said wryly. "We missed it." Wyatt couldn't help but let out a laugh, but it was nearly breathless.

"Holy shit."

"I mean, that was—that was—"

"Awesome," Lucas panted, both laughing breathlessly. "It was awesome."

Eleven was on the ground, too, sitting in the grass, and Wyatt walked up to her, taking a few steps to kneel beside her.

"El," Wyatt frowned, wiping off his tear, "I'm so so sorry for that. I shouldn't have yelled at you and that was stupid-"

Wyatt was cut off when El pulled him into a hug, catching Wyatt off guard before he hugs her back.

"I'm sorry," El whimpered guilty.

"Me too El...me too." Wyatt gave her a small smile as Lucas took a few steps to kneel beside her. He took a few deep breaths and then twisted around so she could face him completely.

"Everything I said about you being a traitor and stuff," he started, his breathing pattern going back to normal, "I was wrong. I'm sorry."

He placed a hand on her shoulder and she stared back at him before saying quietly, "Friends...friends don't lie. I'm sorry, too."

Lucas smiled at her, and Mike spoke up as well.

"Me, too," he said. He held his hand out for Lucas, and the other boy rose to his feet and grabbed it tightly. They both gave each other a firm handshake, smiling at each other.

"So, what's the next plan of action?" Wyatt questioned.

"How'd you find out they were coming for us?" Mike asked. "Did you find the gate?"

Lucas sighed and slumped to the ground, waving his hand and gesturing for everyone to huddle up. "Wyatt and I followed the compasses north and found some sort of lab out in the woods, by Randolph Road. I saw a bunch of those vans that were following us going down the drive, and before we left my house we saw one parked in your driveway."

"Out by Randolph Road?" Dustin asked. "That's Hawkins Lab, isn't it?"

"Here." Lucas reached behind him and grabbed a few sticks, making a crudely shaped square on the ground between them all. "This is Randolph Road, right here. The fence starts here and goes all the way around." He placed the fourth stick on the ground and picked up an old van, setting it inside the square.

"And this is the lab right here," Wyatt added. "But the gate has to be in there somewhere. It's gotta be. That's where the compass kept pointing to no matter which edge of the fence we were at."

"Who owns Hawkins Lab?" Dustin asked.

"The sign says Department of Energy," Lucas said.

"Department of Energy? What do you think that means?" Wyatt asked, scratching his head in thought as though something seemed vaguely familiar.

"It means government," Mike answered. "Military."

"Then why does it say energy?" Dustin asked.

"Just trust me, alright? It's military. My dad's told me before."

"Mike's right," Lucas agreed. "There are soldiers out front."

"Do they make, like, lightbulbs or something?"

"No Dustin," Wyatt glanced at him. "Why would the military make lightbulbs?"

"I don't know!" He exclaimed, hitting his back. "It's a department of energy! Like electricity. Hence, lightbulbs!"

"No, weapons," Mike corrected him. "To fight the Russians and commies and stuff."

"Weapons," Lucas repeated, staring at Eleven. He glanced at each of them before they seemed to catch on.

"Oh, Jesus, this is bad," Dustin groaned. Wyatt nodded in agreement.

"Really bad," Wyatt continued.

"The place is like a fortress!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Well, what do we do?" Dustin asked.

"I don't know, but we can't go home," Mike stated. "We're fugitives now."

"My mom's gonna kill me," Wyatt muttered, shaking his head.

"Tell me about it," Lucas sighed, patting his friend on the back, who backed up a little in surprise at that split second but quickly gave into the pat.

"G-guys?" Dustin stuttered, drawing their attention. He was looking off into the distance and Wyatt followed his gaze. "Do you hear that?"

He squinted at the skyline, making out a black speck in the distance. He sat up straighter, furrowing his eyebrows. "Is that a helicopter?"

They all stared for a moment longer before Wyatt jumped to his feet, pulling Eleven up while he did as Lucas called out. "Hide the bikes! Quick! Get on the bus!"

While Lucas grabbed both Wyatt and his bikes off the ground, Wyatt moved to pry the bus doors open and then followed El up the steps, ducking next to one of the old seats as the others ran up after them after shoving the bikes under the bus.

"Get down!" Lucas warned, crashing into the floor against the wall next to Wyatt and Dustin while Mike and El crouched next to the bus seats, listening with bated breath as the helicopter whirred above them. Lucas grabbed onto Dustin and Wyatt, motioning them both to calm down as the helicopter sound was being heard.

"Mental," Dustin breathed out.

Wyatt threw him a look. "Why are those your only words?"

They sat on the bus for what felt like forever. Many times they'd discussed some form of escape plan but it was always shot down with the sound and eye of the sky which was still present.

It felt to a point where Wyatt felt scared, irritated, and had a sense of loss. Knowing as clearly as the others that should they step out, the exact people will find them. He tried to think of some ideas on how to get out but they were met with nothing more than slow and rusty ideas.

Wyatt perked up however when his ears were met with a muffled voice,

"You guys hear that?" Dustin asked them all.

Wyatt nodded and pulled his attention to Mike's backpack where the noise was coming from. Mike lunged for it, pulling it open and grabbing his comm from inside of it as they all huddled around. "Mike, we need you to answer."

"We heard her but hell's 'we?'" Wyatt muttered.

"Is that your sister?" Lucas asked incredulously, staring at the walkie-talkie.

Mike glanced at him and turned back forward as Nancy's voice came back through. "This is an emergency, you copy?"

"How is she talking on there?" Wyatt asked. "She doesn't have a super comm. And she wouldn't know our channel."

"I don't know," Mike said with a shrug.

"Mike, do you copy?"

"Okay, this is really weird," Dustin decided. Lucas made a grab for the walkie-talkie, but Mike pulled it out of his reach.

"Don't answer!"

"She said it was an emergency!" Lucas exclaimed.

"What if it's a trick?!" Wyatt asked. "She said we? What if she's not alone? What if the bad people are trying to know our location."

"Yeah," Dustin nods. "It's like Lando Calrissian. The enemy is trying to bring us out into a trap!"

"They're trying to use people we know to bring out our location," Wyatt theorized. "Best to take cautions."

Lucas wanted to say something but after Wyatt explained it in a more clear manner, he nodded, watching as Mike was debating on whether or not he should take the risk.

"I need you to answer," Nancy begged, the group inside the room with Hopper, Jones, and Byers. "We need to know that you're there, Mike."

Hopper having enough stepped in and snatched the Walkie talkie from her however Sidney raised out her hand before he could speak.

"Let me," Sidney orders, grabbing the radio from Hopper. "They're not gonna believe you two. They probably think it's a trap."

Hopper sighed, "Better work." Before stepping back.

Sidney sighed and turned on the radio, hoping it was set to the right frequency. "General Knight, do you copy? Gimli, Lancelot,  Dungeon Master, do any of you copy? This is Superwoman here speaking."

Before then, Sidney used to join them on their D&D adventurers, often earning the nickname of Superwoman because of her police reputation.

"Please, speak to me, I know you boys are there and so is the girl and we're here trying to get to you before they do but I need you to tell us where you are. Please, Wyatt. Mike. Trust me. I'm on you're side,"

Sidney paused before continuing, "Look....I...I know I've been away for a while and you probably think it's a trap or something but I promise. I won't let anything happen to you or the girl. Wyatt.....kids...trust me, I'm on your side. Pick up please. Over."

The group was met with silence until something clicked on the other side and the girls tore in relief.

"Yeah, mom. We copy."

Sidney let out a breathless laugh. "Wyatt! Are the boys with you?"

"Yeah!" They heard Dustin and Lucas' voices shout together, both just as joyful.

"Roger that. Requesting your position, over."

"Are you alone? Over." Mike asks, presumably taking the walkie from her son.

"Negative. I'm with Jesse, Nancy, Jonathan, Mrs. Byers, and Hopper. Over."

"My sister? Over." Wyatt's voice asked, seemingly surprised.

"Did I stutter? Over." Sidney remarked. "Party club, I need your position, over."

There's some mumbling, then one of them, presumably Mike, sighs. "The Junkyard, over."

Sidney turned to Hopper, who nods. "Copy that. We're coming for you, over."

Sidney grabs her jacket after shutting off the walkie before the kids can protest. "All of you stay here. We'll go get them."

Hopper nods as Nancy walked up to Sidney in a worried tone,

"Be careful."

Sidney nods, "I'm gonna get them back, kid. I promise."

"I'm going to get our brothers, Nance."

"You better come back with him," Jesse mutters, shaking with fear.

"I'm coming back. I promise." Jesse nods before Sidney pulls her in for a short hug then makes her way out of the house and jumped into the passenger seat.

Hopper reverses the engine and turns, driving in the direction of the Junkyard.

"This is a bad idea." Hopper mutters to himself, "Never did I think we'd be in this position before."

"You and me both partner," Sidney chuckled. "Then again this was something I've always been waiting for and even though this is scary and I'm gonna hurt my kids for getting themselves involved after this is over. I had a feeling I've been training for something like this all my life."

Hopper gruffed, "Always onwards the danger huh? Maybe your kids are finally living up to the Jones name."

Sidney rolls her eyes, both letting out a huge friendly laugh that they normally have when they are throwing someone in the back of the car.

With that said, they arrived the rest of the way in comfortable silence, until they notice two cars parked in the Junkyard, a way ahead. "Shit."

"Amen." Sidney cocked her gun, "May god be with us."

Hopper let out a chuckle and they parked a safe distance away, loading his weapon as well.

"Ready?" He looked at her.

"Stay low, stay smart, stay safe."

They both got out of the vehicle, silently closing the doors as they crept up side by side. Hopper quietly subdues one suited man

Sidney crept after another that was walking straight towards the school bus parked in the middle, gun was drawn and ready to shoot. She pulled out her slienter and sniped him in the knee before darting up and kneeing him in the face.

As the man crumples over with the blow, the other side of his head bumped into the door and he collapses on the ground. Sidney kicks the gun away as the remaining man wasn't far.

He comes barrelling towards Sidney, gun up. However, Sidney was fast enough to shoot him in the left shoulder, making the man grunt in pain as Hopper comes out and bops him on the head. The suit falls to the ground as Hopper picked up the gun and Sidney ran to kick open the doors, gun in hand, and sighs of relief when she comes face to face with four familiar individuals.

"There you guys are," Sidney sighs in relief, feeling the four kids latch onto her with tears of relief. "Hey, hey. I'm okay. We gotta go." Sidney looks up at Eleven.

"You must be Eleven?"

El looks at Sidney, glaring directly at her with an untrustful glare, muttering out something that Sidney didn't understand.

Instead, she shrugs before giving El a gentle smile, holding out her arms open. "Come here." Sidney wasn't sure whether or not she was going to accept it, but the little girl slowly comes over to her and stepped into her arms. "We're gonna get you somewhere safe. All of you."

El held onto Sidney as she lifted her up and guided the kids to the car. The boys already squeezed each other into the backseat. She held El on her lap in the passenger seat as Hopper starts the engine and we were peeling out, just as the sun is starting to set.
