Chapter 4
"Hello? Anyone else here?" I yell out as I step over a big piece of metal from the pile of wreckage that our first class plane had become.
"Over here"
I look to my left and see a group of people gathered around a couple of seats that had flown off the plane and been tossed a couple feet away from the wreckage. I walk hesitantly over to them.
"Hi" I say as I sit next to a girl with curly blond hair. I think I have met her before. Oh yeah, she was one of the skater girls at our school, with a load of wristbands and things.
I look down and finally see what they are all huddled around. It's a person, they are covered in blood and the body is mangled and twisted in a way that wasn't possible. I could see their chest rising and falling in a slow rhythm. My father was a doctor, and I could tell that this person was on the brink of death.
"If you guys ever get back home, tell Emma that I love her." I hear the mangled body croak out. That's when I realize who the body belongs to. It's Alex Goode, one of the star football players at our school. Emma was the head cheerleader, perfect match right? She is also the nicest person you would ever know, considering the stereotypes that most people lay on them.
"I will buddy" I hear the person on the other side of me tell Alex, as he took his last raspy breath and finally passed on from this world. The person voice was filled with tears, and as I looked up at him I immediately regret it.
Out of all people to survive it had to be this douche and not Zoë.
"Well, let's gather all the body's up. We can't just let them sit there forever." Brendan says as he gets up from sitting next to his old best friend.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate him. It's just that people with as big egos as him really annoy me. And believe me, it is hard to annoy me.
"Ewe, no! I am not touching those!" I hear someone screech.
I look to the person to the left of skater girl. I can't believe that this girl managed to survive this. I don't hate her either, it's just that she is so insanely stupid, that I would think she would have found a way to drown herself in a kiddy pool. I don't like giving out stereotypes to people, but she is the description of one.
"Amy, you have to. Do you want to just let them sit out there and rot?" I hear a kid with brown hair and glasses ask her. I recognized this person even faster. Julian, the honors kid who skipped a grade.
"hmp!" I hear Amy mumble as she walks off to a big rock and sits with her head down. She will probably just sit there while we do all the work. Typical Amy.
We all get to the wreckage and start to drag all the bodies into a big hole that we had found beside the cove. Once we were done, we all sat down a bit away from the wreckage, by Amy's new rock.
"Well, since we are all going to be stuck here for a while, my names Patrick and I am normally very shy. Who wants to go next?" I see the kid across from me, Patrick, say.
"Sure, I am Brandon, and I love football."
And it went just like that around the whole circle. There was Laruen, the skater girl. Amy, the dumb blond. Brandon, the football jock. Julian, the social nerd. Patrick, the anti-social kid. Collette, the drill team and dance captain. Kasta, the band geek with a good sense of humor.
"And me, I am Payton. I like to read and I love music."
"Well, now what?" Collette said looking expectantly at me.
"Why are you looking at me?" I ask quizzically.
"Aren't you one of the girls that steered the plane to this island before we could crash into the ocean?" Kasta says as I stare dumbfounded, how did he know it was me?
"Yeah, but-"
"If you could do that, how hard could organizing all of us be?" Julian says as murmurs of agreement arise from the circle.
"Well, if you really want my advice, I say we sleep. It's getting dark outside, and we need to get used to the time change." I say in response to their murmurs.
"Where will we sleep?" Amy says," I need at least some pillows and blankets and a mattress."
"To bad Amy, we are in the wild now. No luxuries for you." Julian says to her as she pouts. Did she really expect there to be a five star hotel in the middle of nowhere? She must be dumber than I had originally thought.
"Let's get some of the seats, and use those as pillows. We can get the curtains as blankets." Brandon tells us all like it's obvious.
We all end up finding enough seats and un-ripped curtains from the wreckage for each of us to have one of each. We set up a clump of make shift beds and find which one we will sleep in.
"How long do you think we will be here?" Kasta says with a voice that I can only assume meant that he was already homesick.
"Who knows? Forever maybe?" Patrick replied.
I had noticed how quiet the two had been since we got here, I can't blame them though. They are probably traumatized.
"Not forever, someone will find us." Laruen says, trying to bring our hopes up.
"Don't planes have a black box or something? Can't they find us, as long as we were on course, right?" Brandon asks us all. but that was when I realized something that I noticed back on the plane.
"Ecxcept we didn't crash any where near our course. The map on the planes board said that we were about a thousand mile away from the dotted line that was the flight path. They might be looking for us, but in all the wrong places." Everyone looked at me with long faces as the realization dawned on them, we would be stuck here for a very long time.
"How about everyone just going to sleep?" Collette suggests as Amy grunts." We all know that Amy needs hers."
We all give half-hearted laughs as we fall into silence again.
I can't help but wonder what tomorrow will bring
