"We would like all of the students who have won the chance to go on this year's school trip to Australia, please come to the main office after last period ends. All who don't show up will immediately extracted from the trip." Was all I heard over the intercom that morning. That was all I needed to hear, or so I thought.

I could still see the jealousy and longing on the faces of everyone in my homeroom class. Well, that is everyone but Zoë, one of my many best friends, who was also going to be on the once in a life time trip. I was happy that i would have someone to talk to on the trip, most of the other people going were mostly strangers.

I should probably explain the trip for you though. Only twenty of our schools seniors are going, and believe me, everyone who wasn't going was very upset about it. We got to miss two whole weeks of school, and get A's for all the assignments that we miss while on the trip. It will take sixteen hours to get there. Once there we have allot of events planned for us, i don't want to get into too much detail right now though.

The twenty students were chosen at random, even though some people claimed otherwise. They were announced two weeks ago, so we had time to get our affairs in order.

Right now we are in our last period, well in the middle of it. I'm sitting at my  table with most of my friends. Including Zoë and many of my other friends. Bella, one of my best friends, was still trying to steal my other friend Angelica's seat. They'd been trying to take each other's seats for a while now, and it was extremely funny for most of my table to watch.

But I couldn't help but to overhear the conversation at the other table next to us. Which included my sister and a lot of her friends, who were like a sub- group of popular people. We didn't really have real popular people at our school. There were just a lot of sub-branches of them.

"Yeah I'm going to miss you guys a lot. And don't worry Julia, I'll come back, it's not like the planes going to crash or something. " I heard from the table, I could guess that this was the voice of Brendan Sparks, another person who was lucky enough to go on the trip.

I could see that Julia was very distraught about him leaving. Everyone knew that she had loved him since freshman year, except for him.

"Payton!" that voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned my head to see that everyone at our table was staring at me. Oh great, attention

"Yes" I say still thinking about our trip tomorrow. Oh yeah, the trip is going to be tomorrow. So close I could all most touch it.

"You okay, you seemed a little spaced out for a second there." I could see that it was Angelica who was talking to me this time.

"Yeah just thinking about tomorrow." And as if it was on cue, the bell signaling the end of last period rang. Ironic how the world always makes the time I spend with my friends shorter every day.  And it seemed that this year I was drifting even further away from them.

"C'mon Payton, let's go to the office now. Last period has ended and we don't want to be late" Zoë said referring to the announcement made earlier this morning.

I let her drag me through the winding hallways of this school. They were like the labyrinth from Greek mythology, distance meant nothing to it, and neither did time. You could spend a minute to find a class one day and the next five.

Finally we reached the main office and sat down in two of the remaining three seats. We arrived right before the bell signaling the start of the end of the day. I looked to the seat next to me, and immediately felt sorry for the person who would not be going on this trip anymore. Too bad I didn't know that they were the lucky one.

"All right", the principle started," Now that you all have gotten comfortable, I would like to explain to you the schedule for the next day. Tomorrow I expect all of you to arrive at the airport landing stage at seven a.m. sharp, if you are late. We will not wait for you. As you all have been told by now, you will be riding on a private plane owned by flower stone international enterprises, the sponsors of your trip this year. The flight will be around sixteen hours from here to Australia, and you will be served meals on the plane as you please. We have made sure that this trip will be as safe as possible for you as it can be. Now I would like to ask all of you to go home early and get packed, remember that this will be a two week trip. Bring as much clothes and snacks you think you might need." The principle ended his little speech with a gesture towards the door, signaling us all that we could leave now.

            " Bye Payton!" I heard Zoë yell at me as she rushes towards the front doors of the school, trying not to be late for the bus. I didn't take the bus, seeing as I could drive, so I just walked to my car.

            It didn't take long for me to drive to my house from the school, seeing as I lived only a five minute drive away.

            Once I got home I decided to watch some TV, seeing as I had already packed for the trip the day before. I sat down on the couch in my living room and got ready for a marathon of cartoons, and snuggled up in a blanket I found on the floor next to the couch.

            After around the tenth episode of tom and jerry I decided that I might as well get to sleep, so I wouldn't be cranky on the plane ride tomorrow. No one wants a cranky passenger.

            It took me a while to fall asleep, because I kept thinking about the trip. But there was one thought that crossed my mind right before I fell asleep, and I couldn't shake it off.

            Something is going to go terribly wrong
