Her Birthday Wish
"HAPPY BIRTHDAAY TOO YOOOUU! WHOO!"
That was my best friend who we were singing to. Her name is Gracie. We had went out to celebrate her 18th birthday. We took her out to her favorite spot in West Hollywood "The None". We had secretly told the waiter it was her birthday. It was the usual group, Me (Kayla), Gracie, David, Eric, and Ashley. We have been the best of friends since we can remember. Gracie, well, we have a different backstory. For a good portion of our lives, we had been in a sort of complication. We were best frenemies. We'd do anything for each other, but there was still some tension. It was just weird. Anyway, we were done at "The None" and we got into the car. Gracie loved the Hollywood area so we kept around our place. We went to West Hollywood and went to a few shops and music stores. We went into one of the most famous record shops "Amoeba". My friends all started to make fun of me because I wanted to ask the girl at the register if they had any 5 Seconds of Summer albums. They all said they were trash.
"When do you expect them to actually be respected? They are just a bunch of boys in a boy band. Do they jump up and down? OR do they sing about... suicide? Freak."
Gracie said this all to me. I wasn't about to let that ruin our night. I knew she was playing but it hurt me. I took the keys from Eric and walked out of the store and into the car. As soon as I walked out, it was pouring rain. Great. Well, I guess that's what Gracie gets for being born in the peak of winter. I'm just grateful it doesn't snow in Los Angeles. It's January and raining. I ran to our car. I sat there talking to myself.
"Do they not understand that they save lives? They didn't know about my incident. Let's just say this. They saved my life. They gave me something to look forward to in life."
I heard the car door open. Everybody got in to the car.
"Stop over exaggerating. Gracie was just messing with you," David said.
I looked at him right in the eyes. He knew that made me feel bad. He gave me a hug and said sorry.
" Don't worry. She was joking. Nothing bad will ever happen to you. And if something does, then you'll get a better reward for braveness. I promise."
Eric started to drive the car. We kept driving around. Then, we turned into residential area.
"Why are we here?" I asked.
"We're checking for the nearest gas station. I'm almost out," Eric said.
Gracie looked around the car. She unbuckled her seat belt and turned around to us. She was in the passenger seat in the front. She turned to us.
"I have one last birthday wish. I have been wanting this for years. I hope this is the year."
She nodded at everyone. They all looked at her and laugh. I didn't know what was going on.
