~Chapter 2~
"There's a revolution coming."
~CHAPTER 2~
The sun was up, and the oceans waves were crashing against the shore. The small town of Silverbrook was busy like always, little kids were running on the beach, and seagulls flew above one of the many small stalls in the walkways of the town. People stopped by stalls to buy things that caught their eye, while one particular girl watched it all, waiting for the perfect time to steal. The girl saw a stall owner get distracted, looking for something a customer wanted, the perfect time for her to go in and grab what she wanted to grab and leave.
She started walking towards the stall, acting like she was grabbing some money from her pocket, before ending up in front of the stall. The stall had rings, necklaces, bracelets, and much more. She looked at the jewelry at the stall, acting like she was figuring out what she wanted to buy. After a few minutes, a nice necklace caught her eye. She stared at the necklace for a minute, before grabbing it and walking away while the stall owner was still distracted. As she was walking away, she heard the stall owner yell something.
"Thief!" was the only part she heard, as she looked behind her and made eye contact with the stall owner. She gave him an innocent smile, before looking away and turning the corner onto another street. The street had one or two people on it, so it was the best place to get away fast if she needed to. She walked down the street for a few minutes before hearing people running behind her. She sighed, looking behind her and seeing some guards going towards her.
"At least the street isn't crowded." she muttered before running down the street, hearing the guards running after her. She turned onto the next street, almost running into her best friend and future second-in-command.
"Wha-" the boy started, getting cut off by the girl grabbing his arm and continuing to run.
"We need to get back to the ship." She said, seeing the ship on the other side of the street. She ran faster, still holding her friends' arm, and soon enough, they reached the ship. The two ran onto the ship and moved the ramp away from the street before the guards could get on the ship. The girl watched as the guards stopped running, one of them almost falling into the water, laughing as she took out the necklace.
"I'm guessing you wanted this?" The girl asked, watching as the guards glared at her, before trying to get on the ship. One of the guards ran up to the edge of the street and tried to jump onto the ship, failing and falling into the water. While the guards were dealing with that, the girl turned around, seeing her friend looking at her, somewhat disappointed, but not surprised.
"What?" The girl raised a brow, staring at her friend.
"Jia what did you take?" the boy asked, crossing his arms.
"All I took was a necklace, nothing too bad." Jia shrugged, looking at the necklace in her hands. It was a silver necklace, and as it went down, there were two chains combined to make one whole necklace. On the chains, there were small flower charms, each with diamond studs on them. She studied it, trying to figure out how much it would be worth, hearing footsteps coming towards her. She looked up, watching her friend walk towards her. He stood in front of her, looking at the heirloom in her hands.
"Can I see it?" He asked, putting a hand out. Jia looked at him for a second, before handing him the necklace, watching as he ran his fingers along the little flowers on the necklace. He looked at it for a second, before handing it back.
"You're gonna get yourself killed if you keep stealing." He looked at her, watching as she rolled her eyes.
"Jae I'll be fine! If you're really worried about that then just go walk the plank." She joked, taking the necklace and walking away. She heard Jaewon gasp behind her, getting ready to reply back, before the door into the captains' quarters opened, and the captain walked out. He looked around, before his eyes landed on Jia and Jaewon.
"Jia! Jaewon! I need to talk to you both." The man yelled, watching as the two walked over.
"Something wrong dad?" Jia questioned, following him into his quarters, with Jaewon behind him.
"No, I just need to talk to you both. We got a message about a party, and we need to send two people from our ship. So, I want you both to go."
"Why us though?" Jaewon questioned. The captain looked at him for a second, before responding.
"Well, I chose Jia because shes my daughter, and i chose you because i know she wouldn't go if you didn't go." The captain looked at the two.
"Do we get a choice?" Jia asked, watching as her dad shook his head.
"No. The party is in 3 days, so make sure you go. I'll know if you don't." He scolded, before walking the two out of his office, and shutting the door. Jia and Jaewon stared at each other for a second, before shrugging and walking away to 'do something stupid', as Jia's dad would call it.
