"I'll tell you a story, before it tells itself."

~Chapter 1~

The ocean was calm. There were dolphins, whales, seahorses, and mermaids. There were multiple people who told themselves that they weren't real, that they were just things that little kids came up with. But despite what they thought, mermaids are real.

"I'm gonna beat you!" A boy yelled, swimming towards an underwater city, with a dolphin behind him. The boy swam faster, trying to make sure he beat the dolphin in the little race, and succeeding in beating the dolphin. He swam into the city, almost swimming into someone.

"Gal! Be careful!" The mermaid exclaimed, looking at the boy.

"Sorry ma'am... have a nice day." Gal gave the girl a small smile, before he swam away. A few of the mermaids he passed waved, or smiled. The boy swam by a girl, smiling at her, before bumping into someone.

"Oh! Sorry sir." Gal apologized, looking at the taller guy, realizing it was the messenger for the King and Queen.

"Its alright Gal. The King and Queen would like to see you." The man said, before looking at the girl who Gal passed earlier, and swimming over to her. Gal panicked a little, worried that he was in trouble for almost bumping into someone entering the city. He took a deep breath, and swam to the castle, hearing someone close behind him. The boy glanced back, seeing the messenger and the girl he swam past earlier, before looking away and entering the castle.

The messenger swam over to Gal, before reassuring him and the girl with them that they weren't in trouble, the King and Queen just wanted them to represent them in something important, also telling the two that the King and Queen would explain what they would need to do.

"If you two would follow me, I'll take you to the King and Queen." The messenger said, before turning around and swimming down the long hallway, the two mermaids following him. The three went down multiple hallways, before stopping in front of a door, that would lead into the throne room, at least that what Gal assumed.

"You two can come in when your ready." The messenger said, before entering the room. Gal looked at the girl, watching her hesitantly reach her hand out for the door, before looking at the boy.

"Are you ready?" The girl asked. Gal took a deep breath, before nodding. The girl opened the door and swam into the room, with Gal following behind her, closing the door before swimming next to her and in front of the King and Queen.

"Hello Gal, hello Xiuying. I hope both of you are doing well." The Queen gave the two a soft, comforting smile. "We have a favor to ask of you both."

"We would like to ask you both to go to a party, you will have to leave the ocean for it, but each kingdom is required to send at least 2 people. Since we can't go because of our duties, we decided we should ask two people we thought would do the best, and we chose you two." The King explained to the duo.

"You dont have to say yes, it's your choice. If you don't want to go, we can find someone else." The Queen said, the soft smile still on her face. The King and Queen gave them time to decide what they wanted to do. Xiuying said yes almost immediately, while Gal thought about the pros and cons. It took him a few minutes, before finally saying yes.

"Great! The party is in 4 days, we will have a fashion designer come and work with the both of you to figure out what you would like to wear, and she will make the clothes for you with her assistants." The Queen said, getting excited talking about fashion and clothes. And with that, the two were excused, with the messenger leading them out of the castle.
