IV~Jason~IV

Super sorry.

Also I've decided that all chapter shall be pretty short for the most part. Then I might be able to update this easier.

IV~Jason~IV

Jason felt hands grab him as he was pulled away from Percy. He glared at the other boy and wiped some blood busted lip on the back of his hand. He watched as Nico pulled Percy back a couple feet out of range.

"We should've just dumped them!" Jason shouted wiping his eyes. "I'm not trying to fail and get myself killed because of you!"

"Everything was going fine!" Percy shouted back. "Both girls are cooperating!"

"Or they were," Nico cut in before Jason could speak. Jason's eyes drifted to the back of the now empty truck.

"Fuck. Damn you Grace! If you hadn't been such a prick I wouldn't have attacked you and they wouldn't have gotten away!"

Jason rolled his eyes. "Each of you grab a flashlight. We have to split up and find them."

"Lets go in pairs," Leo suggested he went to his bag and pulled out a couple flashlights and tossed them to the other boys. He then pulled something else out and walked over to Percy.

Jason turned his flashlight on and started for the treelike before his wrist was grabbed. He turned around sharply to see Leo slap a handcuff on his wrist. Jason's eyes wandered to the other cuff to see that it was slapped on another wrist. Percy's wrist. Jason shook her head. "Hell no."

"Fuck no," Percy added.

Leo shrugged. "To finish this job you two need to get along. So, I'll go with Nico. Call us if you find something!" Leo called as he and Nico walked off.

Jason opened and closed his mouth before looking over at Percy who glared at him.

This was gonna be a long night.

The handcuff was digging into Jason's skin.

He wasn't exactly sure how long he and Percy had been wandering through the trees in silence but whatever it was too long. Jason glanced over at Percy in the dark.

Percy stared ahead waving his flashlight to and fro, searching but Jason was sure that Percy knew Jason was watching him.

Jason glared at him slightly. He shouldn't have asked Percy for permission to kick the other three off the mission, he should've just done it. He would've had the target, and been on his way. He most certainly wouldn't be wandering in the dark handcuffed to an asshole.

"Just say it," Percy whispered suddenly surprising Jason.

Jason blinked. "What?"

"Just say whatever the fuck you were thinking as you glared at me so we can move on," Percy clarified as he stopped walking and turned to to face Jason.

"We should've left the extra weight," Jason deadpanned. "I don't get why you didn't agree. It's your last chance. I know what you told me about not wanting to kill the blonde was total bullshit!"

"Keep your voice down," Percy hissed, after a moment he turned off the flashlight. "We don't need them to know where we are. But you're right," Percy stated. "I could've killed her easily with just one hand around her throat. But I didn't, and I won't do it."

"Why?" Jason demanded.

Percy made a sound of frustration and ran a hand raised his hand to put it through his hair pulling Jason along with him. Jason gave him a glare and pulled his arm back. Percy didn't seem to care after what seemed to be too long he sighed. "I-I asked Nico to come and he must've contacted Leo."

"But they said-"

"They lied to cover me."

Jason narrowed his eyes, he was getting more frustrated the longer Percy spoke. No to mention that when the two were supposed to be a team, Percy had acted behind his back from the start. He took a breath before speaking again, "Just give a straight answer."

"They mean a lesser chance of failure," Percy answered. "I-I... she's a bargaining chip."

"A bargaining chip?" Jason repeated.

"Yeah. The higher ups are fond of deals that benefit them. I need that girl to bargain with if things go wrong."

Jason nodded slowly. He knew that much, it was one of the more common methods of freedom. If a person could succeed in killing the Zero they could often take the Zero's place and the Zero had a lesser quota to reach. Or often people would trade themselves for- Jason's train of thought stopped suddenly and opened his eyes wide and stared at Percy surprised. "You want to trade her for your freedom."

Percy sighed. "Yeah. If worse comes to worse and we can't finish this mission and I fuck up my last chance I'm going to try and hand her over for our freedom. So can you just accept the fact that I need her here?"

Jason took a deep breath in and out, "Yeah, but why do you need Nico and Leo?"

"It's easier to control another person using more people. So can you stop combating everything I say and we can focus on this?"

In response Jason started walking forward again feeling stupid for letting his anger take hold over him. He needed to calm. His usual calm demeanor was usually what got him through these missions, and by letting it slip he had already screwed up and didn't even notice as his target escaped. He said nothing and kept going and handcuffed Percy fell into step beside him and they once again began searching for the two girls.

"Thank you," Percy said quietly after a minute of silence.

Jason shrugged. "But you still aren't building a fire when we get back."

"Dude I thought we just made up?"

"We did. But that doesn't involve fires which give away our location."

Percy sighed. "Fine. But only because you accepted that fact that I need the blonde."

Jason chuckled a bit. "Fair-" Jason was cut off suddenly as Percy clamped a hand over his mouth.

"Shh, I heard something," Percy explained pulling his hand back.

Jason nodded and listened carefully to the world around him. When he did he could hear their combined breathing, and the wind rustling the trees. But after a moment he heard what Percy must've, a whisper. He looked back over to Percy and in the moonlight he could see Percy smile.
