2 | OBVIOUS
"if chenle is that dense, then tell him directly that you like him," donghyuck suggested to his blue haired friend who was currently supposed to be worrying about his next dance performance in two weeks, but is instead worrying about chenle and his date that he is on currently.
mark shook his head and hit donghyuck up in the head, showing that his idea was very dumb and stupid. "if chenle is dense enough not to get jisung's hints, then he is dense enough to think that jisung would be joking if he told chenle directly that he likes him," mark said, disappointed at his friend for being so unintelligent.
"plus, they're best friends. chenle would never believe him," jeno added. the blue haired male just shook his head at his three friends who were currently gathered inside the private dance room jisung was practicing in.
it has been about a week since the reunion with everyone and mark, donghyuck, and jeno decided to help jisung with his problem, namely chenle. the three high school students felt bad for the blue haired boy for having to constantly go through a one sided relationship, and they claimed that they would always be there for him whenever jisung needed it.
"you guys are supposed to be assuring me that everything is okay, not taking me down like that," jisung said, sighing at his even denser friends who had no idea how the boy was feeling at the moment. the young male wanted to forget about all of this and not worry about anything, but his crush on chenle is preventing that from happening. "plus, i even said that i would confess to him at the end of the year."
mark, donghyuck, and jeno looked at each other and shook their heads, all three of them in agreement about something. the blue haired male in front of them was very confused at the actions from his friends, and asked for an explanation from his friends as to why they were looking at each other and shaking their heads.
"jisung, i'm very sorry to say this, but i bet that you won't be able to confess at the end of this year," donghyuck said, revealing the three boys' thinking "lightly" to his friend.
at hearing this, jisung gasped, almost over-dramatically, but still had the same amount of seriousness in it. "are you three doubting me? you guys are supposed to be my best friends."
"it's not that we're doubting you... i'm doubting you," jeno said, the other two nodding along. the youngest of the four boys in the room looked at his friends in disbelief when he heard that his friends don't believe that he will be able to confess to chenle.
"how come?" jisung asked. though he didn't need to know the reason, he still wanted to know why his friends thought the way they did. sure, chenle was jisung's best friend, and he didn't want to lose him, but when given a chance to confess, he will use that chance given.
"well... knowing you, you're going to say you will confess, but then come up with a reason that goes like 'even though i know i'm going to be rejected, it will still hurt a lot' and then not confess. the end of the year is still a long ways away from now. you're bound to end up having a reason not to confess to chenle," jeno said.
the room fell silent after hearing what jeno had to say to his friend. jisung had to admit: the end of the year was a long ways away from now. something could happen that might cause jisung to end up not confessing, but it is also possible that something could happen that might cause jisung to confess early. the blue haired boy couldn't deny, however, that he doesn't want to confess to chenle. he didn't want to confess if he was the only one falling in love, and make everything weird or awkward. it's true that jisung could be overthinking, but after knowing that sicheng's family is homophobic due to being conservative, it's likely possible that chenle and his family could be the same way.
the young high school student no longer wanted to risk it, but he didn't want to seem weak to his friends. even though jisung is aware that his friends know that confessing is hard, he still didn't want to admit that he had changed his mind. he didn't want to be conspicuous.
"jisung, be honest. are you wanting to confess to chenle or not?" mark asked the younger.
once again, the thought of being strong to his friends came into mind and he replied with a nod of his head, obviously looking unsure on his face, but excused it for being tired due to making a dance routine for his dance class.
the sound of loud music was heard from one of the private dance practice rooms in the dance gym. though the dance classes had many students in them, jisung was the only one practicing his dance routine for his performance a couple weeks from then. after having that somewhat serious talk with his friends earlier in the practice room, the blue haired boy continued to finish up the rest of his dance.
playing the music loud enough to be heard from outside, jisung's body moved very smoothly to the rhythm of the song, and if anyone were to see him, they would fall in love with the way he dances. his footsteps were lighter than feathers, his arms were moving around neatly and boldly, and overall his body movements were smoother than water. it was as if the young boy was dancing in the bright, blue sky without a worry.
jisung was so into the feel of the dance and the sound of the music that he didn't hear someone entering the dance room he was in. eyes closed, body moving, sweat dripping down his forehead, the blue haired boy continued his dance until the very end, not stopping for a single minute of rest.
after finishing his dance, the person who had entered the room earlier was clapping his hands, applauding jisung for his amazing dance. the blue haired male turned around to see who it was, and saw that his best friend was the one hitting his hands as a means of cheering.
"that was really good!" the orange haired male exclaimed as jisung was breathing heavily due to the dance he just finished. turning off the music so it wouldn't continue playing, jisung walked over to where chenle was and sat by the chinese boy. his best friend handed him a water bottle that was obviously just freshly bought due to the condensation of the water outside the bottle.
"thanks. i finished creating the routine today and now i'm just practicing it," the blue haired male said, opening the water bottle given by his friend and taking a sip from it. chenle grabbed a towel nearby and helped jisung wipe the sweat off of his forehead, causing the younger to blush but it went unnoticed by the young, chinese boy.
"that song is really pretty, too. listening to it and watching you dance to it is like watching water move from one side of a container to another. it's so smooth going and mesmerizing," chenle complimented.
jisung smiled. "thanks. the song is called 'a neverending story' by stray kids (if you haven't already, go listen to it, it's so good!)," he mentioned to his friend. the other nodded his head in understatement.
"oh, yeah. by the way, what are you doing here? its almost 20:00," jisung said, towel hanging around his neck to catch the rest of the sweat that decides to show up on his face and neck.
"i ran into jeno earlier, and he told me that you were in here. i decided to stop by and give you some water because knowing you, you would keep practicing without rest," chenle said, giving jisung a small smile.
"wow, you know me so well," the younger said, jokingly. the orange haired boy shook his head at his friend and flicked his forehead.
"yeah, i know how stubborn you are. i've experienced it several times," chenle mention as jisung rubbed his forehead, overreacting about the flick even though it wasn't that hard. the older of the two boys stood up from his spot on the floor and made his way into the center of the room, facing the mirror and holding both his arms up parallel to the ground on both sides of him. "besides, even if you weren't stubborn, you would still continue to practice dance day and night if you could. you love dance a lot, and i should know."
jisung shook his head and made his way over to chenle, towel still around his neck. "dance is my world. if i didn't have dance, then there wouldn't be a world to me."
the chinese boy them flopped his arms down back to his sides and turned to look at his friend who is now right next to him. "i know," he said. "dance means the world to you."
jisung just chuckled and smiled at his friend who was now facing the mirror once more and holding his arms out once again. the orange haired male took a deep breath in and out before spinning around in his place. the korean boy watched as chenle began putting a bunch of strange moves together to create a dance routine himself, causing the blue haired boy to laugh out loud.
"what's so funny?" chenle asked in the middle of a jump. as soon as he landed, he stopped moving and looked towards his friend with a pout on his face.
jisung shook his head as his laughing died down a bit. "you look funny when you dance," jisung said, causing chenle to pout more.
"then why don't you teach me?" chenle said, crossing his arms playfully at his best friend as the blue haired male agreed and dragged chenle back to the center of the room.
as the hours of the night slowly went by, jisung taught chenle his dance routine he made for his performance in a couple weeks. the korean male was surprised when he saw chenle catch on very fast, and the two were able to dance the entire song within a couple hours. as the clock slowly arrived to 22:00, and the day got deeper into the night, jisung and chenle continue to spend time in the practice room, making another memory that neither of them would forget.
"if things keep going like this, i might end up taking this secret with me to my grave."
