in her pocket

She was kind of a weird kid but not totally isolated, the opposite of that in fact she was quite popular see she always had something to talk, but it wasn't like “normal” like what she did after school the other day or what happened over the weekend it was always something that had a kind of edge to it everything she said had a sort of suspense to it she would talk about some place she found in the woods or what she heard on the news the other day and the way she would tell the stories it would draw in a crowd, she could even tell the same stories twice but they were never told the same way. I happened to listen in to one of the stories she was telling, it was about dogs, but it felt like I was immersed in the story like when I'm reading a book, I hadn't even noticed when she finished telling it. Anytime im passing people in the hallways they’re always talking about her latest story, how crazy it might be or how intense it was. I never had the courage to ask how she tells her stories so well and quite frankly, I don't want to know.
Then she moved, unknowingly, unexpectedly, and unwillingly. the people who sat with her at lunch were all devastated, yet somewhat relieved, it was almost like a breath of fresh air from all of the suspense every day. On the contrary, nobody knew what to talk about anymore, they were too busy listening they didn’t learn anything from her stories in all honesty they just liked the feeling of being immersed in the world but never really knew anything about her or any of the other people sitting at the table, so when she finally left they actually had a look of who sat at that table, it was a mixture of people from all different types of stereotypical cliques you had some of the popular cheerleaders, the academic team, and the theater kids for example.
You would think as soon as they saw each other like really saw each other they would instantly move away from each other and go their separate ways, something strange happened instead they started talking to each other and getting to know each other and by the end of the school year became one of the closest group of friends at school.
They say she always had a story in her pocket, a story that, in the end always brought the most different of people together.
