14. This Needs to be addressed- Part 3
Not a rewrite but following on from Part 12 and aspects of my notes in Part 9
It's something that needs to be addressed too and it's the Finn aspect and saying he should have apologised and warranted a slap from Santana.
So...
This aspect of Santana's LGBTQIA+ storyline needs to be addressed also..
Firstly trigger warning: mentions of outing and mentions of a s*x tape and also the mention of biphobia
Secondly: I AM NOT IN ANWAY EXCUSING FINN AND I AM NOT IN ANYWAY EXCUSING BRITTANY
I'm not saying what Finn did was right and I'm not saying what he did was justifiable or excusable.
But I'm saying it was a vital part of Santana's LGBTQIA+ story and accepting journey because of how terrified she was but in saying that too Finn wasn't the only one to out Santana.
And because of Brittany and Finn. Santana was outed to the school in S2 and then the state in S3 but Brittany outed her first no matter how niave she is plus Brittany outed her to the world with the s*x tape she leaked of her and Santana. Santana was outed by Brittany and Finn but more so with Brittany
Brittany outed her as well and well before Finn saying that Santana should come out. Brittany outed Santana twice in S2.
On her talk show Brittany words Santana playing for two teams as bating for the other team and Brittany also leaked hers and Santana's s*x tape.
And in S3 what Finn also said is everyone already knows
And I'm sorry Finn only knew because of Brittany in S2 because Finn doesn't give a damn about anyone that isn't him or Quinn especially Quinn to care who Santana is with.
Finn only ever knew about Santana thanks to Brittany basically outing her on fondue for two which got to the school paper the next day where Finn reads: CLOSET LESBIAN CHEERIO And starts reading the top of the column where Rachel stops him and says: that is about Santana.
So Finn only knew about Santana because of Brittany because how else would he know if he only ever gave a damn about himself, reputation and Quinn and Rachel only when she's with other guys.
And I'm not excusing Brittany, or saying what she did was right or justifiable because of how niave she was portrayed as
I'm saying that Brittany unknowingly outing Santana and Finn confirming it needed to happen for Santana's LGBTQIA+ story and accepting journey because she was petrified and terrified of herself, and she was also portraying the negative side of being part of the LGBTQIA+ community and what could happen through that.
Yes Santana had every right to be angry at Finn but she also had every right to be angry at Brittany but she never was which annoyed me a lot because Brittany outed her first twice in the same season and people are just holding Finn accountable.
What Santana also should have done is spoken to them both privately about the situation instead of making it worst because she was so terrified and petrified to be out that slapping Finn made no sense in her LGBTQIA+ storyline like Kurt's storyline in Bash made no sense for his LGBTQIA+ story because his was about people loving him and accepting him no matter what while Santana's LGBTQIA+ story was about the opposite and being terrified and everything so slapping someone for outing her made zero sense for her story.
She should have addressed the situation privately like Schue, Burt,, Bieste and Sue did with her about the commercial instead of making it worst and drawing more attention to it like she did.
Again I'm not excusing what Finn and Brittany did and I'm not saying that Santana should have been outed or that she deserved to be outed I'm saying that it was vital part for Santana's LGBTQIA+ story because she was so terrified to come out and be out that she was outed that her biggest fear came true
Kurt and Blaine and even Karofosky were never outed at all.
Santana portrayed the opposite of them and how she a girl that's Latina and part of the LGBTQIA+ community was terrified because of how traditional her family especially her abuela were.
Santana's coming out storyline was the opposite of Kurt and not rainbows and butterflies like he had but the opposite and part of that meant that she was being outed.
But not by Finn by Brittany. All Finn did was confirm it and like I said with how self centred and ignorant towards others except Quinn and Rachel when she's with other guys Finn wouldn't have had a clue about Santana's sexaulity if it hadn't have been for Brittany and even right in his face he didn't know it was about her until Rachel said it because like I said Finn is self centred.
And because of Brittany and Finn and how Santana's LGBTQIA+ story was she should have lost friends because of it and not just being disowned by her abuela.
And the friend she should have lost like I said in Part 12 it should have been Quinn that she lost because of not only for her sexuality but also her Christianity religion but also because of her lack of and non existent interaction and communication with Brittany which can be seen as Quinn being biphobic towards Brittany.
Again I'm not excusing Finn and Brittany, or saying it was right and justifiable or saying Santana deserved and should be outed. I'm saying that it was something vital for Santana's LGBTQIA+ story and something that can happen for anyone in the LGBTQIA+ but it should be addressed privately and not handled how Santana did because as I said part of her story was that she was terrified for everyone to know and being terrified to come out, what Santana did with slapping Finn made the situation worst and made it more worst when she didn't confront Brittany more privately about what she said in rumours too as marching into the choir room the way she did made it worst too and she also should have told Brittany to stop pressuring her to come out
As Brittany pressuring her a lot was wrong too but it's also a vital aspect but also something that we saw in S2 with Karofosky from Blaine and Kurt and Jeremiah from Blaine too.
But Santana should have addressed that aspect privately and told her to stop something that Karofosky and Jeremiah didn't do at all.
We needed the negative aspect which was Santana's LGBTQIA+ story and part of the negative aspect is being outed and the aftermath of what happens and like I said in the after math Santana also should have lost friends because of her, her sexuality and her relationship with Brittany and she and Brittany should have had the storyline of not being allowed to go to prom and go for prom Queens either because of Quinn and also Joe being uncomfortable with them
which would have been a vital aspect for Santana's story too
Which will then lead to Brittany going ahead with prom while Santana is uspet at Brittany for doing so, and it would allow Santana to seek out Rachel with an understanding of why Rachel wanted to do an anti prom and have Rachel fight by her side to go to prom despite Quinn and Joe and have Rachel as her prom date instead and have them debate and stand up to Figgins, Schue and Sue about Santana being allowed at prom and go for prom queen despite Quinn and Joe.
And it would mean Brittana break up and Finchel not ever getting back together but Puckleberry happening instead and Santana and Rachel are better friends.
And again I'm not excusing Brittany and Finn at all or saying that Santana deserved to be outed but I'm saying it was something vital and important to have as it can happen and vital in Santana's story and a lot more could have happened especially around the prom.
And also both should have apologised in the aspect
Santana was bullying Finn if Finn was an LGBTQIA+ character she would have outed him look at how she outed that he has a bad body and was bad in bed that's not right
And Finn didn't think before he spoke and I blame Brittany for Finn knowing about Santana because if it hadn't have been for Brittany in S2 he wouldn't have known at all.
And Brittany also should have apologised and taken down the s*x tape of her and Santana she leaked online.
