Chapter 5
Chapter 5.
Reunion or Remorse?
“Rainbow..What are you doing here..?”
Sabre paused, staring at Rainbow in great confusion and worry.
“You shouldn’t be here. You know how Alex will act.. You need to go.”
He was right, Alex had been a fury towards Rainbow ever since he left with Light, how he so called, ‘Betrayed them’. It seemed as if Sabre was yet to notice Light, Freezing in Rainbow’s arms. Light had his face hidden from Sabre, facing towards Rainbow, as Rainbow’s cape concealed him. From Sabre’s point of view, it must've looked like Rainbow was carrying his own supplies.
“I know.. I didn’t even know this was here-”
“Well, you still need to go. Now.” Sabre Interrupted, moving his hands in a shooing motion.
There was silence throughout the small camp, before it was broken suddenly.
“Why is he here! Traitor!” Alex bursted out, running up from behind. “Get back!”
Word spreads fast, even if it isn't the truth. There were rumors going through camps, villages, kingdoms, anywhere. They were oblivious, and wrong. Some say Rainbow had gone Rouge, others saying that he destroyed other steves under the rule of Reverse. Some.. Saying that he killed his own brother, his blood. Alex must've heard some of these, even if they were wrong, lies.
“Alex, calm down..” Sabre spoke quietly, before Alex interrupted again. “Calm down!? Have you not heard a single word! He needs to go! Now!” Alex yelled, shoving Rainbow backwards.
“Alex.. please.. Just- calm down- I'm not here to-” Rainbow stuttered, backing away.
“I don't want to hear it! You left us for Them! The enemy! There is so much going on and you just, Left! And you took your brother! You forced him! There's no telling what you've done to him.. He's still up in that castle, isn't he!”
Everything fell silent, as Alex waited for an answer. She grew tired of waiting, before shoving Rainbow backwards again when he tried to take a step. When Alex had shoved him, she had knocked Light out of Rainbow’s arm, falling into the snow. His wound had reopened from the force, bleeding a bit onto the snow. Nobody had noticed, except Rainbow, but to the others they thought that Light was simple supplies, maybe a tent from the way he was curled up. Alex and Rainbow kept yelling back at each other, while Sabre was trying to calm the situation.
After a few minutes of yelling and shoving, Everything suddenly turned dead silent, as Alex had glanced towards Light, noticing the blood in the snow. Sabre caught onto the silence and where Alex had been staring, and he himself, turned into a cold, frozen still statue.
Rainbow Scrambled away, picking up Light into his arms and hugging him gently.
“What. Happened.” Alex demanded, with one of the most dead serious looks that could probably ever exist, she had almost looked like she had turned stone cold, like every emotion left her body except rage. It would've been enough to give Nightmare a chill.
“I-I well- I don't.. Really know..”
“What do you mean you don’t know! Obviously something happened! I swear if you did this-”
“I’m sure that Rainbow didn't cause this.. It doesn't seem like him.” Sabre intervened, cutting off Alex. There was a sickening silence between the four, Alex staring at Rainbow, Sabre worried for Light, and Rainbow worried for himself, and Light. The snow slowly fell, taking over what was spring's early grass, into the cloak of white. It was like winter had come right back around, Winter left, spring sprung, and then it seemed like winter had come right back, mysteriously taking back over the barren mountains and forests.
Sabre took a step forth, looking closely at Light, who was bewildered in his unconsciousness, shivering and unknown to the world around him. Sabre placed his hand gently on Light’s forehead, before signaling Alex to get some bandages and medical supplies. He took Light carefully in his own arms, away from Rainbow.
Alex finally returned, but not with any supplies, instead with Galaxy following closely behind. Sabre had already left, taking Light in what seemed to be his own tent down ways a bit.
Rainbow stood, watching Galaxy and Alex approaching, he shivered a bit feeling as if he was in danger.
“Rainbow.. I truly thought and hoped that you would never return here.” Galaxy spoke, coldly staring at him. Galaxy had a sword in a buckled strap around his waist, with a small leather bag on the other side. His hair curled with gleaming stars with the mismatch colors of purples and blues. His eyes, golden yellow as ever, seem tired. He wore a necklace, yet Rainbow was unable to see what it was, only the chain. The decent amount of the necklace was hidden away under his dark purple scarf. From what Rainbow could remember, it was from his brother, Void. A past hero, and a dear friend of his but had passed away in a cold blooded explosion of attack. From a point in the past, Reverse and Nightmare once worked together.
“Well.. I-”
“There is no reason for you here, and I heard about Light. You shouldn’t be here, and you should’ve never forced Light along with your ways.” Galaxy intervened. “You forced him along because you were scared he would turn against you like the rest of us once he found out the cold truth. Huh?”
“I-What- n-no!” Rainbow yelled, feeling attacked. But it was the truth, he was scared.
“You need to go, Rainbow. You joined Reverse, even after all he's done! You even did his bidding. So go on, Go back to your kingdom and your.. ‘King’.”
“I don’t even know where I am!” Rainbow shouted, stampering a bit on his footing. “I tried to teleport away from Reverse to find help for Light, but it went wrong!”
“Help for what..?” Alex began to question, for once actually listening. “He.. came down with a fever and it seemed to worsen at an alarming rate.. Reverse said that it was nothing, denying everything at first. Denying that is anything.” Rainbow continued, staring at the ground, while Galaxy and Alex looked at each other. “So.. what went wrong? How did you end up here..” Galaxy piped in with his own questions.
“When.. I teleported, I believe that Reversed had tried to stop me from teleporting.. And messed up my coordination” There was a pause, and Alex and Galaxy glanced at each other, before looking back at Rainbow who seemed to jittery with his footing.
“Fine.. You can stay, but by the time Light is better.. You go back.” Galaxy proposed.
“What about Light..?” Rainbow became worried, feeling his stomach turn.
“He is and will stay here. You're not going to drag him off again.. And, you can't stay. You may stay, only until Light has recovered well. After then, you go.”
“Fine.”
