TFP Headcanon
I know this technically doesn't count as a scene, but I figured I'd go ahead and share it. It's just a silly little thing I came up with. Hope you enjoy it!
TFP Headcanons - Naps
Optimus Prime
-Usually gets a good amount of recharge, so he's good for the whole day. He might push it off a little if he wants to finish something but knows when to quit.
-Due to increased Decepticon activity though, he's wearing himself thin.
-You catch him busily decoding the Iacon database with noticeably dimmed optics and slower movements.
-You suggest he go power down for a while, but he politely brushes you off; the database is too important.
-You gently remind him that he's no use to anyone exhausted as he is. Ratchet overhears the exchange and backs you up (thank you, Ratchet).
-With your combined efforts, Optimus finally admits it might be a good idea. Ratchet leads him away from the computer and tells him to have a nice long recharge; they'll wake him if anything happens.
-Optimus later apologizes and thanks you for the advice. It did wonders for his focus and energy levels.
-He now sneaks off to take catnaps when he's not feeling 100%.
Ratchet
-If there's anyone who needs a nap around the base, it's Ratchet. This guy works himself half to death.
-You often catch him spacing out or nodding off at the control panel.
-One day the other humans are off with their bots and the other bots are busy doing whatever. You elect to stay behind and take a nap.
-Ratchet is the only one around, and he notices that it's deadly quiet in the base. Normally his audials would pick up the sounds of you doing homework or gaming or whatever, but there's nothing.
-He goes over to make sure everything's alright and finds you...sleeping? In the middle of the day?? Don't you humans sleep at night?
-Naps are not a common occurrence on Cybertron; he's probably never heard of the word/concept before.
-You finally wake up and check the time; you've only been out like 20 minutes or so.
-Ratchet is just ??? You humans can sleep for concentrated amounts of time?? In the daytime, no less??
-You explain the concept of power-napping to him; it's like a quick recharge that helps boost your energy to get you through the rest of the day.
-He's skeptical until you bring up the science behind it, showing him several peer-reviewed articles.
-You suggest he try, as it might help him be less tired and more productive. He scoffs, he's not tired and he's getting a lot done (he's a hypocrite when it comes to his own well-being).
-After more arguments from you, he finally relents and decides to try it. He gives you a rundown of how to work the control panel and groundbridge, telling you to wake him if anything happens. You refrain from asking him why he just taught you how to man the controls and wish him a good recharge.
-He is now a staunch believer in the power of power-napping and often relies on it instead of getting a proper recharge (that's not what it's for, Ratchet).
Bumblebee/Smokescreen
-They have absolutely no problem getting enough sleep. They love recharge too much to pull all-nighters, although they do like to try and stay up late.
-The uptick in Decepticon activity has them run ragged, though. They often find themselves stumbling over their pedes and nodding off during the day.
-You take pity on them and tell them about the wonders of napping. They get super excited and want to try it.
-Smokescreen beelines for his berthroom and sleeps for several hours. He wakes up feeling horrible, complaining to you that it didn't work. You patiently explain that it has to be for a shorter amount of time; 20-30 minutes is all you need. He apologizes and tries again. He's sorry he ever doubted you.
-Bumblebee actually listens to everything you have to say on the subject, and it works the first time. He thanks you enthusiastically, promising he'll listen to your advice in the future.
Arcee
-Learned about this wonderful concept early on and utilizes it frequently.
-Nearly every time she comes back from a stressful mission, or when she's just had a long day, she'll head to her berthroom for a nap.
-Very firm believer in the power of naps; knows practically everything there is to know about the subject.
-Seriously, if there was a napping club she'd be the head of it.
Wheeljack
-Like Ratchet, he's stubborn about getting recharge. He's often up late tinkering with things or working on his ship.
-Often falls asleep at his workstation because of this.
-He bears his exhaustion stoically, even though he looks horrible after several all-nighters.
-It will take a lot of pestering before you can convince him to go get some recharge.
-He'll most likely go the Ratchet route (naps between working) with occasional crashes.
Bulkhead
-Sleeps the most out of everyone.
-One of the few who actually goes to bed when he's tired.
-Somehow never tired, no matter how late he stays up.
-Ratchet and Ultra Magnus think he's lazy (he's not, he's just conserving energy (according to him)).
-Often takes naps when there's nothing going on.
-Definitely the most well-rested (aside from Ultra Magnus).
Ultra Magnus
-Very strict about getting proper recharge. He'll lecture the others if he catches them napping.
-"A soldier requires adequate recharge time in order to function at peak efficiency."
-Goes to bed hours before everyone else.
-Absolutely refuses to stay up late unless there's an emergency.
-Does not nap. At all. There's no convincing him otherwise, either.
-Probably the most sensible of the group.
