Five Reasons Why The MCSM Soundtrack Is The Best Writing Music Ever

If you're looking for good music to listen to while you write, trust me. The Story Mode soundtrack is gold, and here's why.

1. It's all instrumental.

I don't know about you, but I personally find it really hard to focus on what I'm writing when listening to music with lyrics. Granted, this isn't always the case, but for the most part, it makes life a lot harder for me.

Some of the Story Mode Archives songs have some lyrics (Level Up, Resurrection, Song to Stay Alive), but even those aren't very distracting, and there's plenty more that are 100% instrumental.

2. It's unique and just good.

Okay, yes, this is maybe just kind of me being a fangirl. But seriously.

Even if you've never played MCSM, you've got to admit the soundtrack is amazing. It's absolutely brilliant background music- interesting and pretty without being distracting.

I've cycled through a lot of different artists that specialize in instrumentals, but none of them quite bolster my writing like Antimo and Welles.

3. There is a HUGE variety!

Seriously, there's songs for just about every mood you might be going for.
Tracks for fight scenes [Mob Grinder, Showdown in Skyland, Ninja Fight, Prismarine Mobs], tracks for emotional feelsy scenes [Just Kids, Atop the Maze, Zoom, Cave], tracks for creepy mysterious scenes [Escape the Maze, Dangerous Eyes, Sea Temple Treasure Room, and literally any of the tracks from s2 ep3] and tracks for just ordinary dialogue or expository or adventureish scenes [Order of the Stone, No More Creepers, Milo, any of the freewalk songs].

And all of those in the brackets were just the first that came to mind. There's a TON more.

4. If you're writing MCSM stuff, it helps keep the 'feel' of the game.

Honestly, my stuff is very very off canon. There's legit no way around that.

But I like my stories (well, most of them, anyways) to still seem like MCSM, because they are fanfictions, after all. A lot of the songs keep me on track, reminding me that yes, this is still based on the game.

Of course, that doesn't include making the characters behave like I want them to, but uh,, close enough haha

Plus, it's all just so beautifully nostalgic. Seriously, go listen to Ivor's theme and tell me you don't miss the old days of season one.

5. I'm kidding I'm too tired to think of another reason but it's really good music okay??
