I tried to make her as close to Colombian culture as I could get without appropriating anything, including running her by a couple of my friends who share her heritage. Please please please respectfully tell me if I've accidentally done that! I don't want anyone to be offended and I have no problem making her more accurate!

So first! There are two versions of Marisol. Version 1 is the original Madrigal version. Version 2 is Luisa's love interest version. Don't question it, I just really like her and don't want to make another OC haha. Outside of the headers, anything bolded is version 1 only and anything italicized is version 2 only! Similar to Luisa, but with blue themes instead of purple, swirls and raindrops instead of weights, and gold accents for her parents' influence. She used to wear blue/navy pants more often than her skirt (either by themselves or under her skirt) in case she saw an opportunity to play (usually soccer), but moved to just skirts (with the proper undergarments ofc) when she got a little older.

Cheerful and CCC: calm, cool, and collected (she likes C words). Her mom (in version 1, Pepa. In version 2, Rosa (one of the youngest–a baby–that was brought over with Abuela. Her husband, José, too)) is unpredictable so she wants to be the one to help calm her down, though she enjoys being fun and playful most of the time. However, she's in the older half so she has to play the "bad cop" sometimes. Dolores doesn't like having to enforce rules, which Mira and Camilo might take advantage of once in a while 😉

Pretty patient but her temper can be wildly unpredictable in the mornings and around other people who have unstable emotions. It doesn't take a whole lot to mildly annoy her but she usually can let it slide. It takes quite a bit to really rattle her to the point of hysteria

She is mostly a rule-follower because her younger siblings like to break them *cough Camilo cough*. However, she can be convinced to bend the rules if you have a good enough reason, and as long as an authority figure doesn't find out. She can usually think of a believable excuse (a lot of people think of her as a stickler for rules if they don't know her) but doesn't like to lie

She's dedicated and adaptable, like water, and is more mentally strong than physically (no worries, she's got a buff gf 😌). She is also very tuned into other people's emotions and her mood and powers are affected by them (i.e. she can heat up water easier if someone is angry nearby, easier to shift when she's alone, etc.)

She's a bleeding heart for sure, but if someone takes advantage of her then she can turn on them in an instant. She's quite kind and adaptable though, so if you manage to piss her off, be ready to deal with the full force of her wrath descending like a waterfall. She's physically weaker than she'd like, due to her physique, but quite sharp in her mind

She usually spends most of her nights comforting Luisa (sometimes they sneak out if they can't fall asleep to be with the other one)/others or herself in her room. It's quite a calming atmosphere with all the lights and soft water sounds. {One of my friends irl has insomnia and most nights I end up texting her at least once or twice before I go to sleep to make sure she's dealing with that day/night okay. I wouldn't put something on here if I didn't know someone with it!}

Casita/Encanto

↬ Bedroom description ↫

Lots of soft, changing lighting, as if she were underwater. There's also various bodies of water with aquatic animals and plants in them in the lower part. Her bed can either be a bed of kelp underwater (if she's in water form) or a hammock hanging lowly above a small lake of warm water. There's rocks that are stepping stones to get to it if she doesn't feel like transforming. The entire room is in varying shades of blue and pops of color everywhere that resemble the ocean. All the parts of her room are decorated differently depending on different types of watery weather/places.
A modest-sized room similar to Mirabel's: a soft bed and colorful clothes in a little closet. Idk how else to describe it lol but she has a box of photos/mementos she keeps in a shoebox underneath her bed and her walls are covered with various things she's drawn: her friends Luisa, soccer, the river, pretty much everything she likes/loves.

~ Tried to reconnect with Luisa in their teen years—Abuela didn't appreciate them being "distracted" by each other though.

~ Once they reconnect, Mari realizes she like likes Luisa
~ Not part of the story but this is what starts to happen: Childhood best friends to distant friends to best friends to confused "are we dating?" lovers to child-like lovers dynamic (Luisa never got to be a kid and Mari is playful and fun, so they love to be like that)

Mari really doesn't want to live in the Encanto anymore (related to above). She loves her family but she wants to leave and be with nature around the world. She knows she would break everyone's hearts though. The bigger reason she wants to leave is that she figured out her powers could actually destroy anything with water in it if she really focused and changed the form of/sucked out the water in it. She accidentally discovered she could do that when she was 10 (aka her journey outside the Encanto) and was too scared to ever tell anyone. She only went outside to see what she could do with her powers away from everyone else she might have to "perform" for, but got scared when she realized how far away she was and then that ^ happened. The river showed her how to get back though and she never told anyone.
