There was a time,

before everything happened.

It's the only thing I remember before I woke up there.

It was just a normal day, the fountains shining in sunlight as the flowers in the many gardens in full bloom.

I was much younger, my brown hair hanging short and loose, hovering over my shoulders.

My blue eyes sparkled with light and happiness.

If only I had known how quickly that would leave me........

I was playing with a young boy, but I can barely see him. It's as if someone made my vision blurry every time I looked his way.

We seemed to be friends, running, laughing, and playing together.

It was like the whole day had passed in seconds in my memory and darkness fell.

The two of us had ran into an alley, without noticing that it had gotten so dark.

We weren't even concerned of the people that I know were looking for us, though who they were I couldn't tell you.

I was still giggling from our game when the boy with me froze, looking in the shadows.

I called out his name, but he just pointed in terror, unable to speak. What he pointed at is what changed everything for us.

It was a horrible creature, black and taller than both of us combined.

Blue veins covered it's almost human-like form as it's solid yellow eyes shone through the darkness.

Both the boy and I screamed and tried to run, only to find more of the horrifying creatures.

Every single one of them seemed to be focused on me, staring into my being as if waiting for something.

They stalked closer to us, circling us as we held each other in fear.

It wasn't till one of them jumped towards me, sharp claws out stretched, did the boy say or do anything.

What he did both saved and destroyed my life.

He pushed my aside and took the direct hit from the dark demon.

Three claw marks obvious on the boy's chest through his now torn shirt.

His limp body fell to the ground right in front of me as tears began pouring from my eyes.

I screamed his name, which to this day I can't remember.

I fell beside him crying as a small light formed inside his chest.

The small ball of light floated out of his chest and made a vague heart shape before it was grabbed by one of the creatures and fought over relentlessly.

I just sat in horror and shock, something shattering deep inside me.

My best friend......dead right in front of me.

I couldn't move, I could barely even breathe, and I definitely didn't notice the heads of the evil creatures turn towards me.

They walked towards me at a slow pace as I continued to stare in shock at my murdered friend....

By the time I saw them, it was too late.

My friend's sacrifice had only been in vain.

They were sharper than knives, the blades known as claws attached to those monster's hands.

Immense pain radiated through my small body continuously.

I saw the light float out of my chest, just as it had for my friend.

Yet not one of the monsters touched it.

Soon one of the creature's ran up to try and grab it, but as soon as it touched the light, it faded disintegrated. 

I felt my body begin to deteriorate and fade into nothing.

My vision fading quickly as the light seemed to separate into two pieces, both a duller light.

The monsters quickly began fighting over one of them.

I don't know what happened to the other piece.

I can only assume that those creatures got that one too. It wasn't a moment later until I fell to unconsciousness.
