Hey, I'm Sandhya, only Sandhya, a nineteen years old orphan girl, who lives in an orphanage, I don't have any family and also a surname, there are many kids like me, they often chose a random surname for themselves like Kumar, Kumari, or whatever that sounded more appealing to their ears but I never wanted such titles that don't belong to me. I believe in making my own identity by myself and I know I will do that someday in the future.

Life here in this orphanage is very tough. My senior warden is very abusive and kept on torturing us kids in different ways. He always uses our innocent faces as a cheque to receive bigger donations from all the visitors. He lies to everyone and says, 'Whatever money you'll donate will be used to fulfill the needs of these kids and also to improve their standard of living.' which is a very very very big lie. These people never spend a single extra penny on us and hand over all the amount received as donations to the trustees of this orphanage. Here, only our necessities are fulfilled and the only best thing about this orphanage is, they provide us education.

Education and I share a very strong bond, wherever I am today it's only because of education, to know the details about what I am trying to say, I will have to tell you a tale of my past deeds.

When I was a kid, I must be 6, that was the first time I tried to run away from this orphanage but unfortunately our caretaker Priya Di caught me red-handed. She told me that if I genuinely wanted to get rid of this place then I should get it in a better way. She made me understand the 'importance' and the 'power' of education. She further explained how a good education tends to make anyone's life better and can be helpful to lead a happy and successful life. Since that day my only motive is to study and be successful.

But I guess!! My fate was cooking some different plans for me because the greedy trustees of my orphanage tried to snatch away my only hope, my only goal in life.

After that day, for almost three years, I studied so hard to maintain my rank in class and to earn the scholarship amount of 5 lakhs rupees so I could study in one of the top schools of the town, and finally, that day arrived when I bagged the scholarship prize and my dreams were about to be true, but when those good for nothing trustees got to know about my scholarship money and how huge the amount is, they seized that money forcefully and included it in their donation fund. I used all my willpower to stop them. I begged I cried, I even touched their feet, still, they didn't consider any of my requests and kicked me out of their office.

And you know what's the funniest part of this entire scenario is? The name of this orphanage is 'Hope Orphanage'.

Huh! Hope my foot. According to me, its name should be 'Hope snatcher orphanage'.

Hey! Don't feel pity for me. I didn't get affected by whatever those monsters did to me. I was born as a strong girl and nobody could break me so easily.

The nine-year-old me cooked up an escape plan for the second time as I didn't have any motive left to stay in that jail (Orphanage) anymore. For the full proof plan, I had also included some of my orphanage friends to help me.

I thought to jump across the boundary wall as it was the best idea that my tiny nine years old brain could come up with and without thinking about the consequences of my plan, I decided to implement the same. But how could I expect my life to be so sorted and easy, without any drama? Once again my fate twisted his unpredictable wand and came across with some different plans for me.

Somehow! With the help of the other kids, I had climbed the boundary wall but the moment I was going to jump out, an uncle and an aunty encountered my daring stunt from outside and restricted me to take any step further, as according to them, If I had jumped from that much height, I must have ended up with the broken leg, and after hearing strangers voice all my dear friends who were helping in my daredevil stunt, ran away leaving me all alone standing up on that wall. I wasn't left with any other choice except getting hurt because to get down either I had to jump in or out.

I felt vulnerable, helpless and began to cry as I didn't want to get injured. That couple understood my situation and offered me their help. The uncle asked me to jump down and promised that he'll catch me safely, that aunty also tried to assure me that nothing will happen to me by showing uncle's strong biceps. I thought for a few seconds and sat down on the wall. Uncle extended his strong arms forward, I closed my eyes tightly and finally jump down.

Guess what? God was with me and I landed safely in his arms. Yeah!

After saving my life, they offered me to have a meal with them. I was super hungry so I accepted their offer. We went to a nearby restaurant and that too by their freaking car. For the first time in my nine years of life, I had sat inside a car. I was on cloud nine.

They asked me about my choice of food which they could order for me but I had no idea what to answer because it was my first time in a restaurant too. 'Whatever you'll order? I'll eat.', I had said innocently and you know what? For the first time in my life, I ate pasta and pizza. That was so so so tasty, my taste buds had danced in joy. I had so many firsts in a single day after coming out of that nasty orphanage.

While eating the meal, they enquired, ''Why you try to run away from your orphanage?'' and like an obedient kid I revealed everything, I told them how those cruel people snatch away my scholarship money and crushed all my dreams. After my disclosure, my life took a huge turn.

Wondering how?

Because that's when that uncle gave me an offer, a life-changing offer, he informed me that from now on his organization will sponsor my education cost and he also warned me that if I ever tried to misuse this opportunity then they'll immediately break the deal.

I still remember that day, my eyes had grown wide after hearing his words. I thanked him for trusting me, I assured them I'll never commit something that will force them to breach the deal.

It's been ten years since that incident and now I am in standard 12 studying in one of the best schools in India. Also, this is my last year of living in this jail called Hope Orphanage.

After my board exams, I won't be staying here anymore. I've studied very hard and filled out scholarship forms for many institutions and universities.

I believe I'll get selected by one of them but if by chance!? I don't get the seat then I also have plan B lined up for myself.

For plan B, I've decided to go for an education loan and complete my education then while working I'll pay off the loan amount.

And If by chance both my plans get flopped then I'll ask for help from Raj uncle and Karuna ma'am.

Raj uncle and Karuna Mam are the same couples who saved my life years ago and have been sponsoring my studies till now.

I'm sure they will help me in the future also.

But first of all, I want to try on my own. They already did a lot for me. Now I think it's my turn to prove to them that they didn't do a bad investment.
