On Faith, PRIDE and Being Kind

Happy late Pride Month!

I'm pansexual and I think it's about time I share my personal views on PRIDE, LGBTQ+, faith, rights, and just being a good person.

CORRECT ME IF I BECOME INSULTING TO THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY!

Thank you.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

1. I'm a Christian.

2. I'm pan, too.

3. I've read the entire bible multiple times.

4. Many of my friends are LGBTQ+

5. I'm an actress

6. Me and my brother are figure skaters

So yes, Christians can get along with the LGBTQ+ community - even ones who cling strongly to their beliefs.

Here's why:

- The statement about how 'man shall not sleep with another man' and all? That came before the golden rule and Jesus.

- Jesus says several times that love is the only way into heaven. Basically, you can follow every other rule in the Bible, but if you don't care about anyone or love anyone, you will not be going to heaven.

- The bible is physically impossible to be completely correct. We don't have all the books, it was passed generation to generation through storytelling, and it's been translated thousands - if not millions of times. Believe what you want, but I don't think it's an exact account of the past. Of course, the messages are true, but some of the events may or may not be.

So yeah, I don't think it's fair to accuse people of being 'evil' or saying that they're 'going to hell' just because of LOVING someone you wouldn't. Actually, I think that's like saying, "You're going to hell for following the Ten Commandments!" It's backwards.

As for assuming someone is gay because of an activity...

WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH YOU?!

I have a younger brother who is a figure skater. He is 11 years old, too young to even think of dating, and is overall pretty awesome. He means the world to me. I got his back and he's got mine. I love him a lot - even if he does get annoying or break stuff a lot.

My brother is kind, funny/goofy, cheerful, and always tries to cheer up everyone. He supports everyone he knows.

AND HE'S ****ing bullied for it.

(Please excuse my cursing. I don't normally do this, I swear.)

He is being bullied because some jerk decided that because he's a figure skater/ballet, hip hop, Tap & jazz dancer/decent person he must be gay. I was angrier when I found out. I was angrier when the teachers wouldn't do anything.

The topping on the cake? When he got a concussion from the bully and NO ONE DID ANYTHING.

I was so scared, and I still am... he still could have permanent brain damage. No one except my family even cares. When I found him barely conscious in a bush, I almost marched into the school, and threatened the kid who I knew was responsible, but my brother was my first priority. That meant helping him get help.

THIS IS AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD KID! HE ISN'T EVEN ABLE TO KNOW WHAT ROMANTIC LOVE IS! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM?!

So yeah. I ****ing hate anyone who hurts my brother and the people who raised those mother****ers to think that's okay can go slowly and painfully die in a ****ing fire!

(Again, sorry. I'm really protective of my brother.)

Yeah, I said the people that raised them like that. No kid ever thinks that on their own. They do not wake up and think "I think gay guys are bad" or that "I'm going to try and kill someone, because they don't fit the gender norms and that makes them gay".

THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN!

No. Someone had to influence and raise a kid to think that way.

It's one thing to keep those thoughts to yourself. It's a whole new ball game when you actually put them out there and teach someone else to think that way! People who teach their kids that kind of stuff are heartless monsters and are the true reason people get hurt and killed over this stuff!

*takes a deep breath*

I'm being harsh, I know, but sometimes being harsh is the only way to tell people how strongly you feel about something.

FINALLY, my last point....

JUST BE KIND!

If there's anything to take from both of these explanations, it's that kindness is IMPORTANT! Kindness breeds kindness. You have to help others and go out of your way to do the right thing. Filling the world with hate will only create hate.

You have to be the one to love, and SPREAD THE WORD!!!

YOU might not be much of a difference...

But WE are a big difference.

So tell people to be kind, and to show love, so you, your friends, your family, and future generations can get that love and kindness.

REMEMBER:

The butterfly effect means that everything you do matters.

YOUR WORDS MATTER!!!!

YOUR ACTIONS MATTER!!!

YOU MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.
