The reader died and reincarnated on remnant, but rather then be a huntsman, he chose the route of a journalist, meaning he'd have to still go into danger to do his job. He one day(at the time of the series, a week after team RWBY started Beacon) the Reader needed to do an Article on a uncharted part of Forever Fall. In doing so, he encountered White Fang Soldiers that believed he was a Atlas Spy trying to locate them, so they knocked him out and took him to their base for interrogation. When he comes too he's brought to White Fang HQ throne room where he meets Sienna. They soon realize that the reader is not from Atlas, but is a Journalist, so they decide to hold him for Ransom.
