Raised by the Goddess of cats, Bastet, Anubis is basically uncle figure alongside Anput as aunt.

While looking through the souls that were heading to the underworld, Anubis found a mother who used the last of her magic to keep her child alive until someone found him, he has been bitten by a Venomous snake, and the magic was the only thing keeping his soul in his body, Bastet became aware of this and quickly went to Earthland and picked the baby up, using her magic to purge the venom, and adopted him, despite Anubis' protests.

Bastet is the Egyptian goddess of Protection, home, domesticity, women's secrets, cats, fertility, and childbirth. She protected the home from evil spirits and disease, especially diseases associated with women and children.
