Things fall apart. That is something Tess Murphy knows all too well. So far her life has been outlined by the factor that things build only to break. For example her parents' marriage. After Tess's dad cheats on her mom, completely demolishing their so-far-so good fifteen years of marriage, everything else in Tess' s life seems to follow suit and crash down all around her. Tess quickly sees the pattern that is controlling her life and decides the only way to protect herself, and things from falling apart, is to barricade herself from everything and everyone. A year into this life style, that seems to be working just as planned. She meets Oliver Blaine. Oliver is the opposite of the new and improved Tess, he's outgoing, loud, funny, charming and persuasive. One trait they both have in common though, is their stubbornness. He won't take 'no' for an answer, and she won't open up to him. Because as she's learned, things fall apart. So what's the point? Will Oliver be able to show her the point?
