Annabeth and Luke were great together if a little controlling on Luke's side. But after she discovers that he is cheating on her, Annabeth seeks comfort from her best friend Percy. Percy and Annabeth eventually develop feelings for each other, but are both too scared to admit it. Annabeth is afraid of breaking her heart again and Percy doesn't want to take advantage of Annabeth's sadness or rush her into a new relationship.
