Chapter two
Chapter two
The morning sun streamed through the window, casting a warm glow over Munachi's room. She had woken up with a newfound determination to move past the harrowing events of the previous night, though she knew the memory would linger in her mind like a shadow. She took a refreshing shower, washing away the remnants of fear and distress, and dressed herself in a mermaid green lace gown and a pair of black heels, borrowed from her roommate Nancy.
As she adjusted the dress in front of the mirror, Munachi couldn't help but marvel at how it complemented her figure. The vibrant color lifted her spirits, and she felt a glimmer of confidence return. Last night's ordeal had robbed her of her belongings, including the fifty thousand naira she had set aside for pocket money and groceries, not to mention her bags, phones, and everything else. The thought of retracing her steps to recover her possessions hadn't crossed her mind – in truth, she had no idea of the exact location where the traumatic incident had occurred. Her best option was to call her father, explain her predicament, and hope he would believe her and send some much-needed financial assistance.
Munachi was interrupted by Nancy, who emerged from the bathroom, dressed in a casual brown bum short and a white singlet. Munachi couldn't help but notice how effortlessly Nancy seemed to embrace the relaxed student life.
"Thanks," Munachi replied to Nancy's compliment on her outfit. "Aren't you going to church?"
Nancy let out a tired sigh, her voice heavy with reluctance. "No...o," she drawled.
Munachi chuckled, shaking her head. "You never change. This is your second year, you know."
Nancy playfully pushed her out of the room. "Okay, it's time for you to go. And pray for me, please!"
Munachi grinned, knowing Nancy's aversion to early morning activities. "Yes, madam," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of sarcasm.
She got to church quickly in lecture hall two, it was a short walk from her lodge to the hall in which the service was held. She attended RCF even though she was a catholic by birth and in Abuja, she loves the order of the service, the preaching and especially their follow up wing and Bible study wing, she also love the closeness to her lodge, a walkable distance.
Today she is going to give a testimony for the first time since she started RCF and she is also going to thank God for saving her, for sending a good Samaritan her way in the place of Sochi.
The service was a short one since the Sunday was a double service Sunday. She gave her testimony and everyone listened with rapt attention and some held a pitiful look even when she got back to her seat the lady sitting next to her was treating her like a delicate flower.
She walked back to her lodge with Sonia her course mate who stayed in camp fidelis opposite her lodge. When the got to their lodge the separated ways, she entered Porsche villa and went straight to her room upstairs.
" Aah! This one RCF close sharparly today wetin hapun( what happened that RCF closed quickly today)" Nancy asked as she walked in throwing her scarf on the bed and pulling the shoe.
" Double service. Is there food in the house? Aswear I'm hungry" she said zipping down her dress and putting on a short and a big shirt which she borrowed from Nancy.
" Food dey, na jollof rice( there's food, it's jollof rice)" Nancy replied and went back to chatting on her phone.
Munachi wished she had her phone with her, she would have been reading the stupid comments on people's picture on Facebook or she would have been chatting on WhatsApp. She silently ate her food in deep thoughts.
"Ehen! Before I forget, one fine bobo come look for you ( that's right! before I forget, a cute guy came to look for you)" Nancy said raising her head up from the phone.
"Fine guy?" She asked flummoxed
Nancy nodded in acknowledgement. " The guy fine oo, where you con hammer that one ( he is really fine, where did you meet him)" Nancy dropped her phone to listen to the gist clearly
" I don't even know what your talking"
" Abeg, stop to the pretend, why you no one just tell me ( please, stop pretending. Why can't you just tell me)
" I'm not pretending. Did he tell you his name?"
Nancy shook her head. She tried forcing her brain to recall any fine guy she has met that Nancy doesn't know. She knows Nancy knows all the guy she has met because they were and are still very close since hundred level ( first year). She shrugged indecisively as she wasn't able to pin point the so called fine guy.

A dark guy walked in on sunshade and dressed in an armless khaki shirt on a blue jeans and a brown army boots. He looked around front back, left side and right like a real estate agent, he was scrutinising the area then he walked inside the lodge standing on on of the staircase he tapped furiously on his phone, once in a while he raised his head to check out the surrounding but in a discreet manner.
Some of the occupants of the lodge stared at him curiously, wondering what he was doing here " curiosity always kills the cat" but none of them had the audacity to walk up to him and question him " who born their papa( who gave them the courage to ask him).
When he was done with the area surveying and he was okay with what he came for he walked out.

Sochi stood at her front door, he couldn't get her out of his head, out of his mind. Simi and praiz song out of my head was how his life has been the moment he saved her. He checked his dressing to be sure he looked presentable enough to see her then he knocked.
Once,
Twice,
Thrice and then the door opened revealing the girl he met earlier today, she was still dressed in her bum short and singlet. She flashed him a flirty smile and he replied with a decent one.
" You're here to see her right" she asked and he nodded.
She looked inside the room and shouted " babes that fine guy wey I talk say come here"
He heard her melodious voice reply " yes" his heart fluttered at the thought of her admitting to her friend that he is fine.
He heard shuffles behind the door and finally she walked out while her friend, roommate remained inside, eavesdropping.
She paused as she came face to face with her saviour, she was glad he was here because she felt like her here gratitude last night was trash and she behaved rudely to him but then she was also astonished to see him standing in front of her, how did he even know her room number.
" Sochi" she blurted out surprised
" Hey, what's up" he flashed her a smile and she reciprocated it.
She nodded. " Good thanks to you"
" Good"
An awkward silence fell in between them as she waited for him to state why he was here, he couldn't have come all the way to her lodge just to ask how she's doing. She decided to break the awkward silence.
" I'm Munachi. I didn't get to tell you my name last night"
He nodded but he already knew her name before she told him, Munachi, Muna.
" I brought your things with me"
She scrunched up her eyebrows in confusion, what was he talking about.
" My things?"
" I went back to the place I found you and picked up your luggage" he answered clearing her confusion.
" You did that!" She exclaimed with eyes wide as a saucer.
" Let me get it from the car" he left.
Some minutes later he returned with her two bags, one traveling bag and one medium hand luggage.
" Oh my God! Thank you so much" she quickly collected the bags and dropped them inside. " Sochi, I don't know what I would have done without you, thank you, I'm really grateful"
" No need for that. How much was stolen from you?"
" Fifty thousand naira"
" Give me your account number I'll send it to you"
Where did he come from! She was flabbergasted, she never knew people like this existed and how he has been in hiding all her stay in FUTO. She couldn't accept his money even though she was tempted to do so.
" No thanks"
" Are you sure? it's a favour and I don't need anything from you" he gushed out the last sentence quickly.
She politely decline his offer again. " Thanks again but I'm good"
He nodded " I'll see you some other time" he waved at her and walked out
