Chapter 2

A man sat in his room, listening to the soft music on his radio. He didnt want to sleep

Suddenly there was a noise outside his window that made him jump and turn off his radio. He pulled his covers up higher becoming more defensive. Another thunk on his window. He jumped out of his bed, and though his horror movie instincts told him not to look outside, he looked anyway.

"Oh my god." he muttered to himself. He leaned closer to the window, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

In the backyard, there was a girl. She was smashing some of the plants into the ground with her bare hands, like she was after something. When he opened the window, her bloodshot eyes looked back at him. She panicked and started to run out but he grabbed his phone. The girl stared, frozen, most likely praying that he wouldn't call the police.

He flashed the phone's light at her and she inched closer to him, her arms covered in mud. Of course it was raining outside, it rained often in Portland. He sat there, trying to look intimidating.

"What are you doing?" he asked threateningly. No answer. The girl started walking faster, a blank expression on her face. The man started to dial 9-11 into his phone, and reached to close the window. But before he could, the girl was gone. He put down his phone, and stuck his head out the window, looking left and right. No one. He clutched his chest in fear and pulled himself back in, closing the window.

The man started to crawl back to his bed, when he heard another thunk on his window. He turned on the light, and there, pressed against the glass, was the muddy girl. He leaped out of bed and grabbed his phone.
"I'll call the police!!" he yelled. "Get off my property or I will!!"

His hand shaking, he flashed the phone at her again. The girl was gone. He turned off the screen. She was back. He flashed it at her again. Gone. He did this on and off a few times, confused. She still had a blank expression on her face. The lights in the man's room flickered on and off, until he dialed 9-11 and they were off completely. The girl was in the doorway.

"How'd you get in here?!?!?"he shouted. She ran at him, a big grin on her face as blood oozed out of her teeth. He pressed call, but she took the phone and threw it at the wall, the battery falling out. He shouted for help, but the girl tackled him and pinned him on the floor.

Her muddy fingers started to dig into the man's abdomen. He was kicking and thrashing, but blood started to stain the carpet. He soon stopped moving completely as the girl started to throw his guts into a small sack.

Later, the neighbors knocked down the door, worried about what was happening, They came armed with guns, but when they entered the room,  there was nothing. No muddy girl, no guts. No blood, no fingerprints.

And no dead man lying on the ground.
