Falling in love with Sahaba💫
Jareer Bin Abdillah AlBajaly رضي الله عنه
Here we are in the Masjid of Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم, a little before the Hajjatul Wadaa', while the people have certainly taken their seats in its vastness, preparing to hear the Jumuah khutbah.
And here is Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم ascending the mimbar.
Everyone in the musjid switched to attentive listening and retentive hearts, while their eyes were trained on Nabi صلى الله عليه, attatched to him, not moving from him, nor distracted.
And while they were like this, a big delegation from the Bajeela tribe arrived from Yemen to announce their Islam.
The men of the delegation took their seats among the Muslims, and at the head of them was Jareer bin Abdillah Al-Bajali, the leader of Bajeela and their obeyed ruler.
Suddenly, the Muslims, who nothing could distract them from Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم, their eyes were roving to Jareer Bin Abdillah.
They began looking hard at him and sizing him up, until the thought occurred to him that it's like they're at an appointment with him, or as if someone described him to them, so they wanted to confirm who he was and verify his description.
As soon as Salah ended, Jareer turned to a a man from the Muslims who was seated next to him and said, "What's the matter with the people, they're turning to look at me and staring at me, to the extent that it feels like they need something from me?!
Is it merely coincidence or is something the matter?"
So the man said, "The ppl are turning towards you for no other reason except that Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم informed us about your coming at the head of a delegation from your people, a little while previously, and he said, "A man from the best of the people of Yemen will enter upon you, on his face is traces of a king."
Jareers face brightened at what he heard and it shone with happiness, and his heart was delighted by how Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم described him.

As soon as Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم finished his Salah and Tasbih and Duas, Jareer رضي الله عنه
appeared in front of him.
Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم said to him, "What has brought you, Oh Jareer?"
"I've come so that I and my people may accept Islam at your hands and pledge allegiance to you," he answered.
So Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم said to him, "I will take allegiance from you upon that you testify that there is no diety except Allah and surely I am the messenger of Allah, and you establish Salah, give Zakaah, fast in Ramadan, and you make Hajj to the Baytullah.. And that you wish well for the Muslims, and obey the rulers, even if its an abyssinian slave."
"Yes, oh Rasulullah," he said. Then he stretched his hands towards him and pledged to him.

Since that day, the love between Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم and his companion, Jareer Bin Abdillah رضي الله عنه strengthened and intensified, and he attained from honouring and respecting Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم what none except a few rare people from the first Muslims were fortunate to attain.
Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم never closed off from him for a day, until his death, and whenever he met him, he was extremely delighted and he smiled.
One day he entered upon Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم in his house, thus he welcomed him, and when he didn't find anything for him to sit on, *he took his shawl, folded it and passed it to him so that he may sit upon it*.
Jareer رضي الله عنه took the shawl and hugged it to his heart and began kissing it saying, "May Allah honour you, oh Rasulullah, as you have honoured me and may Allah give you respect just as you have respected me."
Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم then turned to those with him and said, "When Noble people come to you, honour them!"

As soon as Jareer Bin Abdillah رضي الله عنهaccepted Islam and joined the squadron of Imaan, he became a confidant to Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم and a confidant to his successors after him, thus they leaned on him in big matters and they relied on him in great tasks.
A little before the death of Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم , he called Jareer رضي الله عنه to him and said, "Can you relieve me of Zil Khalasa oh Jareer?"
This Zil Khalasa that Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم spoke about, that he wanted to relieved of before his life ended, was a group of Idols in the city of Tabala, a journey of 7 days from Makkah, enroute Yemen, it was painted white and an inscription like a crown was carved on it.
The Banu Umamah used to look after Zil Khalasa, and the tribes of Khas'am, Bajeela and Uzud used to honour it and make Hajj to it and make Tawaaf around it and sacrifice by it, to the extent that they would call it the Yemeni Ka'bah.
* * *
Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم had certainly chosen Jareer رضي الله عنه for this important task due to his leadership in Bajeela and his high standing among the Yemeni tribes. Thus Jareer رضي الله عنهbegan working on executing the command of Rasulullah صلي الله عليه and he chose 150 brave courageous horsemen for this expedition.
When the time of departure came, he came to bid farewell to Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم and complained to him about being unable to sit straight on the back of his horse due to his tall height and the largeness of his head.
So Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم tapped him on his chest and said, "Oh Allah, make him steady, and make a guide, and one who is rightly guided."
After that, he was the steadiest of horsemen on the backs of swift well bred horses.

Jareer رضي الله عنه proceeded on foot to Zil Khalasa. He then killed its custodians, demolished its temple, and kindled a fire in the midst of their idols
Then he sent a messenger to Rasulullah صلي الله عليه وسلم to give him glad tidings about the destruction of those idols that had grieved and worried him, and that which afterwards became the threshold of the the Great Musjid of Tabala.

Jareer رضي الله عنه did not return to Madeena after he destroyed Zil Khalasa, rather he continued his journey to Yemen to call its Kings to Islam at the command of Rasulullah صلي الله عليه.
Thus, he arrived upon Zul Kulaa' ilAsfar, the greatest of the Yemeni Kings at that time and he presented the beauties of Islam to him, and he recited a little of Quran in front of him and he gave him glad tidings and he warned him.
Allah opened the heart of the king to Imaan and moments did not remain before he testified that there is no diety except Allah and surely Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم is the messenger of Allah.
Zul Kulaa' was so delight that Allah had honoured him with Imaan after Shirk, that he freed four thousand slaves on the day of him acceptance of Islam.
Then he migrated with his people to Madina, but he found that Nabi صلي الله عليه وسلم had certainly passed on, so he proceeded with his people to Homs (a city in Syria) and they made it their home.

When the Khilaafah was transferred for Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه, Jareer Bin Abdillah رضي الله عنه place his life, his sword, and his people in his obedience. Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه dispatched him to destroy the fitnah of apostasy is the land of Yemen.
Jareer رضي الله عنه rose up in the best way and began fighting the apostates, until he weakened them and broke their power and returned them to the realm of Islam.
* * *
When the Khilaafah went to Umar رضي الله عنه, Jareer رضي الله عنه was an amazing companion, advisor and leader for him, and Umar رضي الله عنه had a great liking for him, and was amazed at the extent of his intelligence and his reflexive intuition in critical situations.
* * *
One such situation was when once, Umar رضي الله عنه was in a gathering with Jareer bin Abdullah رضي الله عنهand a group of Muslims, awaiting Salah.
One of the ppl passed wind. The people were silent and still, each one fearing that it will be suspected that its from him.
Umar رضي الله عنه feared that embarrassment will cause the person who passed wind to start Salah without wudhu so he said, "I urge the person who passed wind to get up to make Wudhu."
The people began glancing at one another. Then, Jareer Bin Abdullah hastened and said, "Command us, Oh Ameerul Mu'mineen, to all make Wudhu."
Umar Radiallahu Anh was relieved and said, "Yes, all make wudhu."
Then he turned to Jareer رضي الله عنهand said, "May Allah have mercy on you. What a wonderful leader you were in Jaahiliya, and what a wonderful leader you are in Islam."
Then all the people made wudhu.
