The High Fells
Gandalf walks up a hill and finds some ruins; he is seen carefully climbing a narrow stone ledge built into the side of a tall, bare mountain.
Just as he reaches a door on the side of the mountain, the stone ledge he is standing on crumbles away, and he begins to fall but manages to catch himself and climbs onto the entrance of the doorway. A set of metal interlocking bars that had previously covered the door now sit broken and bent away from the opening.
Gandalf steps through the doorway and into a short tunnel going into the mountain; some invisible force suddenly grabs him, and he is pulled swiftly into the hill. The tunnel end in a vast, cavernous hollow in the mountain, and the ground falls away into the distance at the end of the tunnel. Gandalf manages to stop himself from falling into the pit.
He blows the end of his staff and makes it glow; with this light, he examines his surroundings. On the far wall of the cavern, he sees a door similar to the one he had just entered; he goes to it by carefully walking on narrow stones on the sides of the cavern.
This doors metal grate has also been broken and bent away. Gandalf enters the crypt and sees a tomb inside. However, the cover of the tomb has been damaged. Suddenly, a bird flies out of the broken grave of Gandalf. Gandalf starts, then turns around to find Radagast behind him.
Oh, its YOU! Gandalf exclaims. Radagast gives his fellow wizard a look. Why am I here, Gandalf?. Gandalf sighs and says, Trust me, Radagast. I would not have called you here without good reason.
The brown wizard removes his hat, and three birds fly into the nest on his head. He then replaces his cap. This is not a nice place to meet, he says, and Gandalf shakes his head.
No, it is not.
They exit the crypt and look around at the cavern. These are dark spells, Gandalf. Old and full of hate. Who was buried here? Radagast observes, turning to his equal. If he had a name, its long since been lost. He would have been known only as a servant of evil—one of a number. One of nine. Gandalf says as he illuminates the lower part of the cavern, and we see eight other crypts like the first, all with their metal bars bent and broken away from the insides of the crypts.
Gandalf and Radagast leave the mountain. Why now, Gandalf? I dont understand. Radagast exclaims, following the gray wizard. The Ringwraiths have been summoned to Dol Guldur, he answers. But it cannot be the Necromancer. A human sorcerer could not summon such evil. radagast shakes his head and walks away.
Who said it was human? the brown wizard turns to face his friend, looking shocked beyond measure. The Nine only answer to one master. Weve been blind, Radagast, and in our blindness, the Enemy has returned. Gandalf says, looking away from his friend.
"He is summoning his servants. Azog, the Defiler, is no ordinary hunter. He is a commander, a commander of legions. The enemy is preparing for war. It will begin in the east. His mind is set upon that mountain. the gray continues.
Gandalf turns and begins to walk away. Where are you going? radagast calls after. Gandalf stops turning to face the brown animal-loving wizard. To rejoin the others. radagast shakes his head, exclaiming, "Gandalf!"
The gray wizard sighs and turns around again. I started this; I cannot forsake them. They are all in grave danger.
Radagast gives Gandalf a pointed look. If your words are true, the world is in grave danger. The power in that fortress will only grow stronger. Plus, they have Skipre with them, from what I've heard. is he not a dragon?" Gandalf looks away. You want me to cast my friends aside? And yes, they do. But I feel Sauron wants Skipre to be with him. azog will probably try to catch him."
