Chapter Three
"She's what!?" I yelled.
"I don't know what to say besides she's dead," Torpedo answered.
I jumped out of the water and flew away. I was going to find Sobek.
I flew right into someone (because I'm so classy like that). "Watch where you're going!" I screamed. (Still so classy). My scales instantly turned a deep blue color.
"It's me, Sobek. Ring a bell," the SandWing said.
"I would if I had one," I growled sarcastically.
Sobek laughed and said, "I suppose I had that coming."
I only nodded.
"I can take you to the SandWing kingdom so you can find the sisters and that other SkyWing and whip their behinds," Sobek suggested timidly.
"Sure," I said. "Then I can see the real news about Queen Oasis." Then courage sparked through me. "You know I didn't want you to leave me that day."
Sobek nodded but instantly turned a bright red. "I was trying to take on the two IceWIngs that we attacked and killed," Sobek answered as we flew.
"That was brave but also stupid," I commented. "I think it was more of me who killed them. You just helped, somewhat."
All he did was toss back his sandy head and laugh.
"Well, don't you think we should we be going?" I asked.
He stared at me, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"SOBEK!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. "WE JUST TALKED ABOUT LEAVING AND NOW-"
"Jinx!" Sobek screamed less loudly. "We are leaving. I just had a RainWing moment...."
I choked back a chuckle. (Then I realized I was part RainWing....)
Nothing exciting happened as we flew towards the Kingdom of Sand. It was basically:
"Whoa a lizard."
"Shut up Sobek, that's retarded."
Then awkward silence follows.
"Look Jinx, the SeaWings are playing in the water."
"I still don't care, Sobek."
So, the flight was "nice." Actually, I wasn't nice at all. To be honest, I was completely grumpy. I hadn't had a good night sleep in at least a day or two. I've been flying all day for ever and my wings ached and my mood wasn't what I would call "cheery."
Sobek must have suffered a lot. Having to fly a lot, putting up with my great personality, and having to be told to shut it every time he talked.
When we finally reached the SandWing kingdom, I think I had switched personality traits a little. I was less Miss-Grumpy-Pants and more Miss-Let's-Kick-Some-Butt-Pants.
We didn't make it that far until three female SandWings and one female SkyWing came into view.
"Ah," Sobek sighed. "The enemies have returned."
I resisted the urge to say, "that's not relevant, Sobek. Shut up now." Be glad I didn't say that because I'm sure Sobek wouldn't appreciate it.
"Hey," I called. "Can you hide in the sand? I'm going to change my colors and eavesdrop from the sky."
"Okie dokie, Jinxie." He swooped to the ground in a graceful arc.
My scales slowly rippled to the color of the sky above me. My normal green and blue scales were replaced with beautiful, baby blue scales. The only color that didn't change was my normal yellow streaks. Stupid SeaWing genetics for not letting me change every color. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
I slowly flew closer to the "enemies" as Sobek loved to put it. (Oh, how I love that crazy dragon).
The fours dragons were arguing (aren't they always?) because their mouths were flying open faster than I could eat (which is saying something). Inferno had huffs of smoke pouring out her nostrils, Blister still was holding her talons as if they still burned, Burn was pacing around and clawing at the sand angrily, and Blaze was of course staring at her talons as if they were made of precious gems.
I glanced down at the ground to see Sobek stalking with his body smushed up against the sand. He blended in quite well except for the freckles.
"I WANT VENGEANCE!" I vaguely heard Blister screech.
"But vengeance is very threatful to my claws, my precious claws," Blaze murmured.
I angled my wings to get somewhat closer to the group of dragonets.
Sobek shifted in the sand, causing the group to all move their heads in unison towards where he was.
"Crap," I muttered silently to myself.
"Who's there?" Burn questioned.
"It's the stupid hybrid!" Inferno yelled.
I giggled to myself. Gosh, these dragons were idiots. They all knew that I could only change colors to blues and greens, not yellow.
"Show yourself!" Burn said.
"YEAH!" Blaze joined in. "You guys go fight her!"
"Shut it!" Blister roared.
Every dragon turned their head in her direction.
Blister let out a long sigh. "Let's gather the facts. First off, we know she can change colors. Secondly, she has a SandWing friend that goes by the name of Sobek. Thirdly, Jinx has a large dose of dangerous venom. After all that reasoning, we obviously know that dragon on the sand isn't Jinx the crossbreed."
"LIES!" Inferno screamed. "IT HAS TO BE HER!"
"You just did all that reasoning and all the arrows are pointing to her!" Burn said.
"No they aren't," Blister repeated.
"It is her! She changed her scales to the color of the sand, and that little rat of a SandWing is scurrying around here!" Inferno explained.
"It. Is. Not. Her." Blister stated.
"I agree with Blister," Blaze whispered out of the blue.
"What did you just say?" Burn cocked her head at her sister.
"I said, I agree with Blister," Blaze said louder.
"How? All signs say-" Burn was cut off abruptly.
"THEY DON'T!" Blister roared. "THINK ABOUT IT! THE SAND WOULD BE A STRANGE COLOR BECAUSE OF THE VENOM! IT. ISN'T. THE. FREAKING. HYBRID!!!"
"Oh," Inferno muttered. "Oops."
Blister let out a very loud, and long sigh.
"But who is the dragon there?" Burn asked.
"Guys, where is that dragon?" Blaze said.
They all swung their heads around and looked around on the ground. I held my breath, praying to any thing that Sobek wasn't going to get caught.
"I don't know," Blister choked.
My eyes narrowed on a shape off in the distance, a sandy blob scrambling through the rough sand. Gotcha.
I flapped my wings wildly to catch up to Sobek. When I finally neared the dragon I stopped in the wind. It wasn't Sobek. A large male SandWing was trying to fly but was struggling. His face was decorated with many scars and his black eyes looked through my soul.
"What do you want?" He growled.
"Uh," I stuttered on words. "Have you seen a SandWing named Sobek? Larger than me, brown eyes, brown little freckles?"
"I don't care, kid," he continued walking.
"Please," I begged.
He turned to look at me. I noticed that he had a large scar across his left wing. His ebony eyes showed pain and misery.
"Look," he started. "I don't know where your friend is-. Wait. Is that him?" He pointed one talon directly at where I came from.
In the distance the enemies definitely had something in their grasp. A hint of yellow, a flash of brown.
"SOBEK!" I screamed. I flapped my wings as fast as they could go.
"Your welcome!" I heard the SandWing say.
How was I so stupid?!? I knew he was still there, he would never leave me, but I left him. What friend was I?
As I zoomed in I saw that they were already flying away, Sobek in hand.
"SOBEK!" I sobbed. "NOOO!"
I slumped to the ground and cried. Before I knew it they were just a speck in the horizon.
OHHHHHH! CLIFFFFFFFFFFFF-HANNNNGGGGEEEERRRRSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoy writing this story. Sorry for not updating.
