Chapter Six

Praise the world. Here is chapter six. I officially have full custody over this book. I'll continue editing the other chapters later.

I would say I found the entrance in a matter of minutes, got Sobek, and I was on my way home.

But is that true?

Of course not. Life is never that easy.

Queen Oasis' palace was quite confuzziling. (I made up the word. Don't judge). The endless curved structure, the creepy heads sticking out of the walls. But as the more I circled, the more I noticed how the palace resembled Burn's striking personality. Surely Queen Oasis wouldn't want her palace like this.

Then I remembered the sickening news; Oasis was dead.

As I veered closer, I saw the small silhouettes of SandWings taking down the dead dragon heads.

Hmmm. Maybe Oasis wasn't dead. Had Burn put up a fight and tried to take over the castle?

I watched eagerly as one tiny SandWing snatched a head and soared towards what looked like a way in.

Bingo.

I tried extremely hard to make my scales look absolutely like the sky. My wings hugged my body, and I dove for the small entryway.

Surprisingly, there were no guards posted around the entrance. I eagerly marched in, ready to find Sobek.

I lowered my body to the ground, even though I knew I could be easily spotted. I attempted to turn my scales to the dullest color of green.

"Where are you, Sobek?" I whispered. I scurried around on the ground, trying to make the least possible noise (not working well).

"Did you hear something?" A deep male voice asked.

"No." Another male voice answered.

"I swear I heard something. It was like claws scraping the ground."

"Pfft." The other guard laughed. "Dragons live here, Sandstorm. Of course there's going to be claws scraping the stone."

My heart pounded in my chest. I pressed myself up against the cold stone floor. There was only one way to get out of this, and it was a dang risky idea.

The dragon, Sandstorm, huffed angrily. "It's not that-"

I stepped around the corner, and waved my pale wings. "Hey, boys."

Sandstorm and the other dragon stopped in their tracks, their jaws wide open. Sandstorm had a long, jagged scar running across his left eye.

"Who are you?" he questioned.

"I'm...." I racked my brain for a SandWing name. "I'm Emu. Yeah. Emu. That's me."

Both SandWings glanced at each other.

"I'm Rattlesnake," the SandWing introduced. "This is Sandstorm."

"I've never seen you before? Why are you green and blue?" Sandstorm asked.

Shoot. I was screwed. "Well, I'm actually here for come something. More like someone. Could you point me in the direction of Sobek? I'm his.....uh...executioner."

"You didn't answer my question." Sandstorm frowned. "Why do you look weird?"

"I ate a bad bug," I said quickly. "It turns your scales odd colors?"

Rattlesnake grumbled some nasty words, but didn't say anything loudly.

"Where's Sobek?" I asked yet again.

"Why should we tell you?" Rattlesnake fired back.

"I said, I'm his-"

"Executioner." Sandstorm eyed me.

Sandstorm leaped right on top of me, and his scales began to bubble fizz away. He screamed bloody murder as he clawed at his scales. Rattlesnake lunged to his partner, but hit my wing in the process. His scales, too began to get submerged by my venom.

"Get her!" I barely heard Rattlesnake yell.

I scrambled on the hard stone, my talons slipping as I ran away. I brought my wings up, and I flew up towards the top of the castle.

"SOBEK!" I roared at the top of my lungs. "SOBEK! WHERE ARE YOU?"

I darted across the palace, searching everywhere for a place to keep a prisoner. Then, a tiny little door appeared in my vision. My wings folded in, and I shot for the tiny door. I landed with a loud THUMP. I barely touched the door, and it was already bubbling up with venom. I scrambled through the small hole I had just created.

"SOBEK!" I yelled again. "SOBEK!!!"

"Jinx?" A tiny voice whispered to my left.

"Oh, Sobek! I'm so glad I found you!" I ran towards the left, following the voice.

"I'm over here," Sobek called again.

"I'm coming!" I stopped in front of a small jail cell. "There you are-" I froze. The dragon in the cage was certainly not Sobek. The last thing I saw was a dart coming straight towards my head.

Stormchaser wanted to lead Chill away from all this drama and trauma and go back to the way they were living. But she was not going to give up on Jinx and Sobek.

They had finally made it into the castle, and were standing in front of the small, venomized door.

"Are we going to go help?" Chill asked.

"Yep," Stormchaser said as she climbed through the narrow hole in the door.

"Yeah! Let's go!" Chill said in a triumphant voice.

casually walked into my line of vision. He radiated basically every color. His whole face was covered in a deep red color with swirls of dark orange. His deep set eyes were a startling green color.

I stood, frozen. My brain wasn't processing much of anything.

"Who do you think you are sneaking around the Queen's palace?" he hissed.

I was too stunned for words. But I quickly recovered. "Why are you—a RainWing with serious anger issues— sneaking around Oasis' palace?"

If smoke could pour out a RainWing's nostrils, smoke would be billowing out this guy's.

"I asked you first," he replied simply.

"I'm Jinx," I said.

"And?"

"I'm a hybrid, RainWing/SeaWing."

"That can't be it," he added.

"I don't have any webs between my talons. My glow spot don't light up. I can only breathe underwater for a maximum of fifteen minutes. I can only change my scale color to blues and greens."

The RainWing eyed me.

"That's it, I swear." No it isn't.

"I'm Parrot," he said. "I'm one of Queen Oasis' guards. I am helping fight against the whole 'Burn attempts to take over' group."

"Oh. I forgot to mention something," I added casually. "I have this really odd power."

Parrot's eyes seemed to bulge. "Go on."

"It's really dangerous," I said for effect.

He nodded in response.

"I'm like super powerful.

Parrot seemed to grow more impatient by the second.

"Do you want me to demonstrate it?"

He bobbed his up and down as an answer.

"Come closer," I motioned for him to take a few steps forward.

Parrot scooted closer to me.

"Put out you front, left leg."

He did as he was told.

"Make sure you hold completely still or it won't work." Was this a good idea?

Parrot froze in place.

I raised my right claws, tears starting to weld in my eyes.

"Be s-s-still," I started to choke on my own words.

"What-" Parrot started to say.

I brought my talons down on his left leg, leaving a nice venom gash.

Parrot let out a blood curdling scream.

I scrambled away from him as fast as I could. I sprinted to my right, straight towards the door with the hole.I could still hear the screams of Parrot as I charged away.

I clambered out of the small hole, forcing my body threw the small space as my venom made it bigger. A small piece of wood miraculously got into my eye, and I got temporarily blinded.

My claws got stuck in a small crack in the stone, and I tumbled forward.

"Move!" I yelled blindly. I didn't want to kill someone else.

"Hmmmft," said a female dragon as I toppled on top of her. "Uggggghhhhh."

I stuck a claw into my eye (y-ouch!) and got the small piece of wood out. I looked down at the feminine dragon and a massive smile erupted on my face.

"Stormchaser!" I threw my wings around the dragon, thrusting her into a hug.

"Jinx!" she replied. "I'm so glad we found you!"

I looked into her dark brown eyes to see joy. Someone actually cared about my well being. That was new.

"Jinx?" A familiar voice said.

I tossed up my aqua head to see the same amber eyes I'd learned to love. I couldn't exactly read his emotions, but they looked kinda happy and confused. His little brown freckles seemed to be even cuter (how is that even possible?)

"S-Sobek?" I asked slowly. "Is that really you?"

Sobek's face lit up in joy. "You bet it's me, baby. I would do anything to just run into your wings and hug you for hours."

If my already massive smile good get larger, it most definitely was. But a small tear trickled down my face; tracing a line down my green snout.

"Jinx?" Sobek asked, concerned. "What's wrong?"

"I just want it to go away," I choked out. "I can't hug you, I'll never be able to touch you. I don't want this." A trail of tears started to flow out my yellow eyes.

"Jinx....." Sobek's voice trailed off.

Before I could do anything, Sobek placed his talon on my cheek, wiping away my sorrows.

I jerked my head back. "You can't do that-"

"Watch me," he answered. He sat his talons on my cold cheek, and wiped away my tears.

I looked into his amber eyes, remembering all the fun moments I had with him.

"Sorry, guys," Stormchaser interrupted. "But Chill is look out, and I've got a feeling we should ditch this dump."

Sobek pulled away his claws and glanced into my odd eyes.

I may have been imagining it, but it seemed as though he mouthed the words "I love you."

I mean, he could have most definitely said "olive juice." Ya never know.

"Come on, Chill! Hurry your butt up!" I yelled.

"Chill, we seriously have to go," Inferno urged.

"Inferno is on her way here and she's flying fast. I'm waiting on her," he said stubbornly.

"No, you aren't. I'm leaving," Sobek said strongly. "She's the one who helped capture me."

"'Bout that..... We're kinda working together..." I said softly.

"Of course you are," Sobek huffed.

"Let's go!" Chill shouted. "Inferno's almost here."

"Run! Get out of here!" I heard Inferno bellow.

Guards started to pour out of the hallways as they started to circle us.

"AHHHHHH!" I yelled with my best warrior call. I began to charge through the circle of guards, when a whip swum around my neck.

"HHHHHHUGGERGDUL!" I spit out. I glanced around to see my teammates being dragged away too. My venom couldn't do anything, since it only works on living or once living objects. And a whip is not made of wood or flowers (I wish it was).

"Let go of me!" I tried to struggle out of the whips tight grasp, but it clutched onto my neck. My vision started to get blurry, and I wobbled around. My eyesight started to get black, and before I knew it, I passed out.

I woke up in a quite odd looking area. There were dragons scattered everywhere, and every single one of them seemed to be watching me. I glanced around to see my friends stuck in cells similar to mine. Inferno even had her own cell.

I tried to stand up, but my legs were strapped to the stoney wall. I struggled against the metal restraints, and I eventually got up. At around the same time, my fellow buddies got to their feet as well.

My eyes narrowed on three SandWings. One seemed to be giggling quite loudly.

In a loud, commanding voice Blister announced, "Welcome! Because you were so stupid and got yourselves captured, you'll have to fight for your lives."

I was completely shocked as a guard pranced in and brought up his talons to fight. I stayed still as the dragon let his talons fall on my venomized scales.

Except it didn't work.

Pain erupted on my left side. I tossed my head to see trails of blood seeping down my royal blue scales. Three large cuts raked down my side.

This guard had actually cut me. Cut me. That was impossible.

I raised my yellow eyes to see the guard. A smirk was splashed against his pale scales. His barb tail lashed back and forth against the stone floor.

All my friends stood in their cells staring at us in disbelief. Wait. Not us. The butt face SandWing and beautiful, bloody me.

I noticed Burn staring at me with a look of delight. This was all planned. They knew I was going to rely on my venom, not my claws or teeth.

As I looked back at the guard, I saw that he had metal (painted like his scales) all over his claws and his whole body. Like a shield that I couldn't break through.

A snarl spread across my face. I bared my razor sharp teeth. I shifted my scales to the darkest colors; letting my body get consumed by the dark wall.

I wasn't going down without a fight, and I hope he knew that.

I really hope you enjoyed chapter six! I'm sorry for the wait, but Wattpad was having some difficulties with publishing, but it's all fixed.
