Due
ROMAN'S P.O.V.
I scoffed when for the third time I heard Patton's voice in my head.
"Stop glaring at him." He said in his dad tone through the mind link, making me quietly growl in annoyance.
"No." I said determined; I loved Patton and he was one of my best friends, but I was not about to forget my position as a prince and let him boss me around like that.
"Roman please stop, you're starting to get on his nerves and I would rather you not killing anyone on your first day here." He said pleadingly this time.
Only then I noticed the nerd had stopped in the middle of the hallway glaring right back at me. His insolence and lack of respect made me annoyance rise up inside me making me growl slightly again; how dare glare at me? How dare he disrespect me?
"Roman..." Repeated Patton in a warning tone when he saw I was not backing down, but I ignored him, holding the guys gaze as I folded my arms and pushed my hip out, raising a challenging eyebrow.
When his eyes finally shifted from mine, losing the silent battle, I feel a small victorious smile tag at my lips, before disappearing when pain shot through my arm, making me sharply turn around towards Patton, just in time to see his electricity retract in to his fingers.
"What the- How dare you?!" I growled through the mind link, making him roll his eyes.
"Watch your tone mister. And stop acting like a child it was barely even a shock."
I was about to fight back when I heard someone clear their throat and turned towards our guide still scowling.
He looked at us with an annoyed look on his face, his arms folded against his chest as he impatiently drum his fingers onto them.
"If you're done with childishly trying top set each other on fire with your eyes, I can show you the rest of the school so I can go home, uh?" He said, raising an eyebrow when both Patton and I chuckled at his choice of words. If only he knew who they really were he wouldn't be this arrogant.
I decided to stay silent and let him continue his tour.
"So Lowan-" I started, picking up my pace so I could walk besides him, but he immediately interrupted me.
"It's Logan."
I just smirked at his annoyance.
"Lowan, why did Mr. Sanders say you were the best student in the whole school?"
Out of the corner of my eyes I could see Patton smiling proudly my way, happy I was trying to have a civil conversation with our tour guide. How naive.
"Because I am." He deadpanned, his eyes not leaving the hallways ahead of us not even for a second.
I stepped in front of him, making him almost collide with my chest. His annoyed eyes immediately locked with mine as I looked down at him threateningly, my gaze a bit darker than usual.
"Then you should know how to pay respect to someone who is far more superior than you are, especially if they are royal like I am."
I could almost see my friend's hand slapping against his forehead and I could just imagine him shaking his head as his hand slipped across his face in disappointment and exasperation, but my eyes were fixed on the smaller guy in front of me.
We glared at each other and I expected him to back down at the threatening tone in my voice and the dark look in my eyes, but he surprised me by taking a step closer, our chests almost touching, as his eyes didn't even leave mine for a second.
"You could be Queen Elizabeth II of England and I would still not let you walk all over me as if I were as fucking doormat. I don't care if where you're from you're a prince, here you're none other than a weirdly dressed, arrogant, self-centered kid. So if you don't want to downgrade from fancy European Prince to halfwitted Joker of the small American high school, you better get your head out of your ass and drop your attitude." He said, narrowing his eyes, his voice low and threatening; my expression must have showed how astonished I was feeling cause I saw the corner of his lips turn upwards into a minuscule smile before he turned around and kept ok walking, leaving me speechless behind me.
"Well, the guy can talk. Serves you good, kiddo." Patton said through the mind link, before passing me and giving me a slap on the head, making me roll my eyes and scoff in annoyance.
"This is for acting like a jerk to him."
I groaned quietly.
"Oh, Shut up."
I slowly resumed resumed walking, slightly listening to the hushed conversation the two in front me were having, chuckling a little when the nerd muttered how much of an asshole I was, earning a pinch and a warning to not curse from Patton.
I slowly slipped back into my thoughts when the conversation started to get boring, thinking about the reason I came here, my mood dropping instantly; then laughter brought me out of my dark thoughts, my gaze instantly snapping towards the sound.
I looked curiously at the guy who dared to disrespect me and who was now chuckling sweetly while covering his smile with a hand, with my best friend and advisor, and deep inside me I felt something stir awake; I didn't know what it was or why it was happening, but I could feel a small smile tugging at my lips as I watched the two talk and joke softly and I was only sure of one thing: that guy had just succeed in something not many did.
Not only did he managed to stand up to me and put me back into my place, but he also gained a bit of interest and respect.
