" I LIKE YOU A LOT, KENDALL MOLNAR. "

kendall seemed to find herself in her mirror debating on outfits a lot since she moved. she wanted to make sure every outfit was perfect for every event she was attending, for no reason in particular. this time, though, there happened to be a reason.

ricky was taking the blonde out on their first official date as a couple. they had been together since new years, which was a few weeks ago, but had never gone out in public together besides school. she wanted to look her best for ricky so he wouldn't feel embarrassed of her. but why would he? he liked her for who she was, not for some other person.

she settled on a soft purple dress that went mid-thigh. they weren't going anywhere super fancy (ricky said he couldn't afford it and kendall said it was fine), but he did tell her to dress nice. she let her blonde hair fall naturally around her shoulders and applied a light amount of makeup as always. she was never one to go all out with it and she wasn't planning on starting now (she also didn't really know how to do makeup, but that was another story).

"kendall, ricky's here!" trish shouted from downstairs.

kendall let out a shaky breath and grabbed her coat from her bed, making her way down the stairs. "coming!" when she reached the bottom both sets of eyes were on her and she felt cautious. "what? does it look bad?"

"no," ricky shook his head quickly, stepping towards the girl. he placed his hands on her waist and pressed a kiss to her cheek, not wanting to kiss her in front of her mom. "you look amazing."

"good choice." trish smiled before disappearing into the kitchen.

ricky wore a pair of dark jeans and a button up shirt that looked stunning on him. he gave the girl a smile as he pulled away and looked at the blonde. "you really look amazing."

"thank you." she blushed, looking down at her dress before deciding to slip her coat on. "you look good too."

"thanks." he smiled. "i was thinking about wearing a tie, but i thought it might be too much."

"probably." she laughed and he leaned in to press a kiss to her lips. "you ready?"

"yeah," ricky nodded and grabbed the girl's hand, leading her out the door and over to his borrowed car. his dad let him borrow it often because he had argued with him about it for a solid ten minutes while kendall was sat in the kitchen. he said he deserved more time driving since he had his license and needed more practice. kendall thought it was because he was just a little embarrassed that she was the one always driving them around.

"where are we going?" the blonde asked as they headed down the road.

ricky smiled, "one of my favorite places; you'll see."

kendall waited impatiently for them to reach their destination. it was a good fifteen minutes later when they pulled up in front of a restaurant that kendall had never heard of before. "this place looks nice." she commented and he nodded.

"i used to come here with my parents all the time." he climbed out of the car and kendall did the same, following him into the building. "table for two, please." ricky smiled at the host.

the man grabbed two menus and walked them over to an empty table, placing the menus down for them once they were sat. kendall looked through her menu, scanning over the many items before settling on chicken francese with pasta. She greeted the waiter and ordered her drink while waiting for ricky to decide on what he wanted to eat.

when he was finally content with an option, the two ordered and sat patiently, talking about how their days went. "did you finish the math homework?" ricky asked as he munched on the bread that was placed in the middle of the table.

kendall nodded, "it was pretty easy."

"okay," ricky scoffed. "then i must be stupid because i couldn't figure out some of the problems."

"i'll help you." she smiled and he returned it before reaching out for her hand. she gladly placed her hand in his and the two sat in a comfortable silence for a few seconds before they began talking about a funny joke that big red had told them during lunch that day.

they munched on their bread until the food came and kendall's eyes widened at how good it looked. ricky only smirked as he started to eat. kendall dug in, enjoying the lovely flavor that the chicken and pasta had. a side of veggies sat on her plate also and she felt like she was in heaven.

"is it good?" ricky finally asked after she took a few bites.

"it's delicious." kendall smiled. "i can't believe you're just now bringing me to this place."

"sorry i didn't think of it sooner." he chuckled, waving down the waiter for another drink for each of them. they sat peacefully eating and talking about random things until the waiter brought the check and the boy dug into his pocket for his wallet. of course, kendall offered to pay, but the boy declined.

the two thanked the waiter before heading out towards ricky's car. "thank you for dinner." kendall smiled at the boy and ricky smiled in return.

"you're welcome. i had a good time."

"me too." the blonde responded before buckling her seatbelt. he drove her home and walked her to the front door, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "you missed." she joked and the boy chuckled, kissing her lips.

"i like you a lot, kendall molnar." ricky smiled as his arms wrapped around her waist.

her chest was pressed to his and her arms were draped around his neck. "i like you a lot too, ricky bowen."

he kissed her once more before pulling away. "have a good night."

"you too." she smiled again and made her way inside. she stood by the window and waited until he drove away to make her way up to her room to change. her mom was already in bed, so she made sure to lock the door and turn off all the lights before she went upstairs.

she stayed up until ricky text her that he was home and she sent a goodnight text along with the kissing emoji before plugging her phone in and turning off her light. she crawled into bed after brushing her teeth and let sleep take over with the biggest smile ever, spread across her face. she hasn't been this happy in a long time.
