Chapter Two
"Mom, Dad? I'm home!" I holler, shutting the door behind me and dumping my backpack on the floor.
"Hey honey, I'm in the kitchen. Come in her I have something for you." My mother hollers back.

I enter the kitchen and on the counter are caramel apples sitting on a plate full of sprinkles.
"Just roll the apple in the sprinkles, as much as you want. If you're going to eat in your room, please eat it over a plate." She says, and continues to wash dishes.
"Thanks Ma." I give her a quick kiss on the cheek, grab a plate and an apple, and run up the stairs.

I kick my bedroom door shut behind me. I grab my laptop off my nightstand and plop down on my bed.
I log onto my email, Ms. Dawson, my English teacher, sent us a list of recommendation of books for summer reading. I click the email and began to scroll through.

I see a few titles that I know Jenny has on her bookshelves. She is the biggest book worm I have ever met; I on the other hand am not much of a reader.

After reaching nearly to the bottom of the list the only thing that catches my eye is 'The Complete Works of The Grimm Brothers'. "Creepy and twisted, that is right up my alley." I mutter to myself.

Cool air washes over me as I step into the book shop. I'm greeted by a bored looking employee. I give him a polite nod and head off in search of the book.

"Hello there." Someone whispers in my ear and I spin around. Arm raised ready to punch something.

"Justin, you scared the hell out of me!" I let out a puff of air in relief and lower my arm.

"Sorry." He gives me a quirky smile.

"No, no you're not."

"You're right, I'm not. Anyway, I'm going to go with a wild guess and say that you're here to get a book off the summer reading list? Either that or Jenny dragged you here again." He glances around.

"Summer reading  and I'm guessing you are too?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yep, The Complete Works of The Grimm Brothers. What did you pick?"

"Same."

"Twines!" He holds out his index finger wanting me to touch it with my own. I roll my eyes and turn away from him.

"Where are they keeping this damn book?"

"Hold on let me ask." He looks around until he spots someone stocking shelves. I watch as he approaches them. They talk for a moment and the employee points to a shelf in the back of the store.

He pulls out 2 copies handing one to me. After we purchase the books we head for the front of the store.

"My lady..." Justin says feigning a British accent as he opens my car door.

"Thanks you my kind sir." I give a slight bow, and then toss my bags into the passenger side.

"How's everything going at home?"

"It's going fine; Jen and I are excited for tomorrow. This year seemed to drag on forever."

"That it did. How are Nick and Jenny? It sounded like they are getting serious."  He crosses his arms and leans against my Impala.

"Yeah, they are. I just hope she is being smart and taking it slow. I don't want to watch a repeat of what happened to me." I sigh, pushing my hair off my shoulder.

"Nick's a good guy; he isn't an idiot like Eric is." He pulls me into a hug and kisses the top of my head. "If he does turn out to be a douche bag, we'll kick his ass."

"I can get behind that." He lets me go, and I climb into my car. He shuts the door behind me. Giving me a wink as I drive away.

"Honey, I'm home!" I hear Jenny yell from downstairs.

"You're 15 minutes late." My dads gruff voice follows.

"Sorry daddy the movie ran longer than we thought. If it happens again, I'll call."

"You better, how was it?"

"Good you should take mom to see it. Hey, where is Brittney?"

"Upstairs in her room."

"Okay, love you." I hear her running up the stairs. I shut my book and sit up as she burst through the door.  She's grinning wide when she collapses on my bed.

"I'm guessing your date went well?" I ask, chuckling.

"You could say that..." Her grin spreads wider.

"What happened?"

"Nothing much,  except that Nick kissed me!" With that, she buries her in my head in my bed and squeals.

"What?! Tell me everything!" I ask more out of concern, but  keep the smile plastered on my face. She sits up, crossing her legs.

"Okay well, after the movies. We go to the park, that's why we were late. So we're walking around talking then all of a sudden he stops and looks at me and when I start to ask him what is wrong,  he kisses me!" She buries her face in her hands and squeals again.

"That's great Jelly Belly!" My phone vibrates in my purse and I lean down to grab it.

"I hate it when you call me that."

"I know that's why I call you it Jelly Belly." I have a new text from an unknown number. I open it and as soon as I finished reading it my jaw drops.

"What's wrong Britt?" Jenny asked her voice laced with concern.

"I hate to ruin your mood, but it's Eric. He's moving back."
