Chapter Four

Chapter Four
"He arrives in two days?! Two days?! What am I suppose to do?!" I shout at Jenny from the edge of the tub.
"You don't have to shout. I'm standing less that a foot away from you, jeez!" She puts the cap on her lipstick tube before dropping it in her purse.
"Sorry, but when he said he was moving back, I thought he meant a couple of months from now. You know, I thought I had time to prepare myself. Now he drops the bomb that it's in two days!"
"Just try and stay out of his way, and if you do run in to him, please don't punch him. I don't have the money to bail you out of jail." She begins to clean up all the items she used to get ready with.

"I can't make that promise..." I reply, crossing my arms.
"I know what he did was kind of awful, but you have to try." She turns and looks at me, shifting her weight onto one of her hips and cocks her head.

"It was just kind of awful? Jenny, he cheated on me with my best friend, and it's just kind of awful?"
"Yeah, you're right, he's a complete asshole." Sh turns to leave and I follow her to the front doors.
"How late is this party going to be?" I ask, holding out her phone to her.
"The parents said I had to be home by 2." She tucks her phone in the pocket of her purse.

"Bye guys! Love you!" She hollers past me at our parents sitting on the couch in front of the TV.
"Bye honey, be safe." My mom smiles at her.
"Remember be home by 2." My dad says never taking his eyes off the TV. I give her a hug goodbye and she bounds down the steps to Nick's waiting car.
I bid my parents Goodnight and make my way upstairs to my waiting bed.

I blink in the sunlight streaming through my window. I yawn and roll over to look at my alarm clock. It's 11, I want to stay in bed, but my bladder and stomach have other plans. I reluctantly pull myself out of bed.

After a quick stop at the bathroom, I make my way downstairs to the kitchen.
I make myself a bowl of cereal and take notice that Jenny's purse isn't hanging on the hook by the stairs.
I hear my parents talking in the living room. Shoving a bite of the cereal in my mouth, I walk into the living room.

"Brittney, have you heard from your sister?" My mom asks me as soon as I enter the room.
"Good morning to you too, and no I haven't. Why? Is something wrong?" I reply around a mouthful of food.
"She didn't come home last night and she isn't answering her phone." Suddenly I'm no longer hungry. I set my bowl down on the coffee table.
"Okay, I'll call Nick and Isabelle and see if they know where she is." I race upstairs to my room and quickly call Nick.

After what seems like hours he answers.
"Hello?" He says groggily, I must have woken him up.
"Hey, is Jenny with you?" I ask quickly.
"No, why would she be? We haven't been dating that long."
"Do you know where she is?" I start biting my thumb nail.
"No, why, is something wrong?"
"She didn't come home last night." I start pacing the floor. "When was the last time you saw her last night?" He takes a sharp intake of breath.
"About 1:30. I, stupidly, got hammered last night. She took me home. Isabelle left about an hour before we did, but she might be with her." I thank him and tell him I'll keep him updated.

After a quick call to Isabelle my worry turns to fear. She hadn't heard from Jen since she left early. I fly down the stairs.
"Neither of them have heard from Jenny since last night." With that my dad calls the police.

"Ma'am, I need you to sit down. There is an Amber Alert out; I just have a few questions for you." The tall officer with a thick Brooklyn accent says softly to my mother who is currently pacing the floor. She nods slowly and sits down next to my dad who starts rubbing his hand across her back in an attempt to comfort her.

"Alright, so I just have some questions that I need you to answer to the best of your ability. Every little detail helps us." He tells us flipping open a notepad.
"What was she wearing?"
"A black Journey T-shirt, skinny jeans, and black wedges, she also had her purse with her which is purple." I answer him instantly. "I helped her pick it out." He gives a slight nod as he jots things down on the paper.
"Who was she going to see?"
"She was going to a party with Nick, her boyfriend, and Isabelle, her best friend." My mother answers this time.
"Where was the party?"
"Miranda Den's, I don't know the address." My turn to reply.
"How did she get there?"
Her boyfriend gave her a ride. He drives some sort of black horse car." My dad this time.
"Are you positive she didn't just sleep somewhere else?" We all nod.
"Alright, last question, could she have run away?"
"No!" The three of us say in unison.
"She hates having people worry about her so she would have left a note or sent a text letting us know she was okay. She was happy here; she told me last week that she couldn't imagine life being any better!" My voice cracks on the last sentence.

The officer nods slowly, and shuts his notepad and slips it into his pocket.
"We'll be in touch. Here's my card, call if you see or hear anything." He hands my dad his card and leaves.

A/N
Guys... There is is. It's THE chapter. Where shit officially starts going down.
MWHAHAHA.

On a brighter note I just wanted to let you guys know is that I will be MIA in June. I have a lot of stuff happening. Flying home for a couple days, turning 18, have surgery, learning how to drive, getting a job, and getting ready for GED classes (and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head.). Needless to say I'll be busy!
So I will try to post some more chapters before that but I can't promise anything.
Have a good day and remember to smile!
-Georgia
