Chapter 89

Why the hell is he showing up at all my workplaces?

"Hazel, we were waiting for you to come inside and take your seat," he said extra sweetly, and I knew from his tone he was holding back. If it had been just as late, he would have screamed at me for arriving late. I composed myself and brought a smile back to my face.

"Yes, sir," I said with a lit node and took the seat opposite the green-eyed demon. I felt his eyes on me, but I kept my gaze low, ignoring him.

My boss introduced me to "Skyler Adams," who sees potential in our business. I was still not ready to lift my gaze. I felt fear in my heart. No one here knows I work at a strip club. What if he blurts it out in front of my boss? I don't want to lose this job.

"You both seemed close to each other," he said in a firm tone, suddenly making me look up at him. My face held a confused frown. His green eyes moved all over my face. He moved his green eyes from me to him with that questioning look on his face.

"No, you—" the boss was about to explain, but he cut him off. "It's just that you keep calling her by her first name, so I assumed," he said sarcastically and a little harshly while looking at him. My boss' facial expressions quickened under his gaze.

"Miss Smith, did I ever call you by your name at work?" he asked me, looking straight at me. A lump formed in my throat. Why is he showing that he knows me? I saw my boss looking at me with surprised eyes. I moved my head in denial, but he raised an eyebrow at me. I know he wanted me to say it.

"No," I said in a subtle tone while looking back at him.

"Both of you know each other," the boss asked, looking at us with a surprised tone in his voice.

"Yeah, she used to work for me before she decided to ch—" He left the sentence hanging while directly looking at me. My heart was already in my mouth, and my eyes unknowingly pleased him. Why was he making my life harder than it was?

"Before she decided to change her job," he said these words, looking directly at me. Those words held a double meaning. I just nodded my head in a hurry to confirm it.

"Wonderful. You will feel more comfortable getting assisted by my miss Smith because you have been working together before," he said with a delighted smile on his face, making my eyes widen at his statement. Why do I need to assist him? He had told me I had to look after the project and that I would not be his secretary.

"I would like to look around the office. I want to see with my own eyes what I'm going to invest in," Skyler said while looking at my boss.

"Yeah sure.  Miss Smith will show you around. She is our best employee. She is very capable. Of course, you know about it," he said while shaking his hands with a big smile on his face as if he had won the lottery. Why me!   Anyone can show him around. I bit my lower lip while looking at him. He stood up and buttoned up his jacket while looking at me.

"Shall we?" he said while looking at me with raised eyebrows.

"After you," I said while standing up and gesturing towards the door. Without a word, he walked off.

"Boss, I have so much work pending. Why don't you ask Aron to show him around?" I tried to bargain as soon as Skyler walked out of the door.

"No, it has to be you." An opportunity has walked towards our door, and you are the key to that door. "You have worked with him, and you would know how to convince him," he said with a big grin on his face.

"But–"   I was about to reason, but he didn't let me complete my sentence.

"No, ifs and buts. I want to hear "yes" from his mouth. I want results," he said with a final tone in his voice.

"Go, it's not good to make him wait," he commanded, and went back to reading a file. I had no other choice. I walked out of the office with slumped shoulders. This headache was not making my day any better. I massaged it for a few seconds before walking out.

"It took you a long time to come out. So you failed to convince him to send someone else to show me around," he said with an amused tone in his voice, which made me glare at him in disbelief. Of course he knows it.

"Sir, in this way," I said in my monotonous voice, ignoring the question he asked. I started walking in front of him so we don't need to walk together. I was not ready to meet him first thing in the morning. I have still not made my decision, and I don't want his constant presence near me to make me remember last night at every moment.

"This is our meeting room, and here are some of the achievements of our company last year," I said, showing him the charts and cutting out some papers with some trophies. I had worked my ass off for those things. I kept on showing him everything, and then we reached the final stop. He had followed me without any question. It was the only good part about this little office tour. Even though I felt his piercing gaze on my back, my throat was drying up because of my constant talking. I need to take some pills for this pain to go away. Aron's eyes fell on me, and he waved at me with a big smile on his face. I smile back at him.

"And the final place here is where all the employees work." I showed him the last spot and turned around with a tight smile on my face, only to get bumped into his hard chest. Why was he standing so close?

"Ouch!" I hissed in pain because my nose had collided with his hard chest. I think I broke my nose. Is he wearing armour inside that suit?

"Hazel, are you alright?" Aron came running to me as soon as he heard my voice.

"Let me see it," he said while taking hold of my chin to examine it. Everyone was looking at us now.

"I'm fine," I said while trying to stop him, but he still wanted to check it.

"She said she was fine." Skyler's mad voice made him take his hand away from my chin. Aron looked at me worriedly. I know he is worried about me; that's why he came running.

"Hey, I'm fine," I said in a soft tone with a small smile on my face while squeezing his hand.

"Go get back to your work," Skyler commanded with blazing eyes.

"I don't take orders from you," Aron said in his mad voice while looking at him.

"Well, then, start taking it because your company's future depends on me," he said in a firm tone with a smudged look on his face.

"Get to work," he said again. Stone looked at me, and I just gestured for him to go back.

"And you come with me," he said, taking hold of my hand in front of everyone.

"What are you doing? Let go of my hand," I said in anger, trying to get my hand out of his hold. It was just the start of my day, and no energy was left in me to do this shit.

He dragged me out of there to one of the empty meeting rooms and locked it.

"This is a place I work. Stop doing this," I said in anger, trying to walk back to open the door. What will all my colleagues think after this incident? But he stopped and turned me around. Both hands were resting on his hips, and he had a furious look on his face. He gave a mocking smirk as if he were looking down at me.

"What a contrast you have in your workplaces. Here you act all modest, and in the night at the bar, you strip your modesty," he taunted me as his eyes moved all over my body. My jaw clenched listening to his words. I turned around to open the door and walk out. I had no energy left to argue with this headache that was killing me. My throat was still dry, and I wanted water very badly.

"Who is he?" he asked in a demanding voice while banging his hand over the door, not letting me open it. I know he is talking about Aron.

"It's none of your business," I said in a firm voice. I didn't turn around to look at his face. My lips were quivering, but I held back my emotions. Why in hell does he keep questioning me as if he still has rights over me?

"It's my fucking business," he said in a furious voice while turning me around to face him. He was standing so close to me. I had no energy to argue with him, nor did I want to answer him. But I need to shut him up. I tried to answer him, but no voice came out of my mouth.

"Fucking answer me," he said while taking hold of my shoulders and moving my body a little. And it was the final stroke. Everything started shining around me.

Before everything went dark.
