Chapter 108

I was scared to go back to the place where I ran away four years ago.
I walked away, with him still sniffing. His bodyguard guided us towards the less crowded part of the airport. I thought we were going to wait for the plane, but he kept us walking until we reached the boarding area. We were flying back to New York on a private jet. He shook hands with the pilot, and then we walked inside. I sat at the far end with my son. He sat in front of me before the jet took off. I was showing the clouds to Neil, ignoring his stares at us. I wanted to distract him because he was crying while we left.
"Mama, see clouds," Neil said happily while pointing towards the cloud pulling me out of my thoughts. I smiled at him with a small nod.
"Mama, where are we going?" he asked me while his innocent forest green eyes looked at me.
"We are-" I couldn't complete my sentence. I found it difficult to say where we were going. I can't say we are going to the hospital because he hates them.
"Come here, I will tell you," Skyler said, pulling me out of my dilemma. He lifted Neil from my lap, and he happily went to him.
"Where are we going?" he asked again, looking at him with his big, innocent eyes.
"We are going to New York," he said while ruffling his hair with a smile on his face.
"New York, why?" He questioned me again, and I suppressed my smile. Neil likes to ask a lot of questions for his age. I kept looking at them.
"Have you been to New York before?" Skyler asked, and he moved his head to no.
"That's why we are going to New York," Skylar said while ruffling his head again.
"But Nano and Ella have not been to New York either," he said with pouty lips.
"They will come too," Skyler said while offering him a small smile. Neil's eyes lit up when he heard it.
"Then I will play with Ella all day, but where will we live? Our house is in Boston," he questioned again innocently, like a chatterbox.
"We will all live in my house,'' Skyler said while looking at him.
"Your house. Is it big?" He questioned me again, and I saw Skyler scratching his forehead. I pressed my lips in a thin line when I found Skyler looking at me. I looked away when I saw Skyler looking my way. Entire ride Neil kept questioning him until tiredness made him sleep. When we reached New York, a car was already waiting for us. It took us to the same building where we used to stay four years ago. I felt nostalgic and overwhelmed at the same time. I was surprised to see he was still living in the same house. Everything was the same as the day I left. I decided to stay in the guest room. Neil was excited to see a big house with big windows. He looked out the window. He saw a small park from there and wanted to go there. I promised him to go there someday. He got busy looking out of the window, and I was unpacking our things when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," I mumbled while taking out the clothes. Skyler opened the door and walked in.
"What do you want to have for dinner?" he asked while looking at me. He had changed into a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt, which were sticking to his bulked body. I looked away while clearing my throat. I was about to say anything when my little devil shouted.
"Pizza. Mama, I want pizza," he said while running towards us and jumping like a bunny in excitement. I know he is excited, but I don't want him to jump like that. I was about to scold him.
"Neil, buddy, what have you promised me about jumping and running?" Skyler asked in a soft tone while lifting him in his arms.
"I'm sorry, I will not do it again. Am I not going to get pizza?" he said adorably, making both of us chuckle.
"So pizza it is," Skyler said, making his eyes light up.
"Let's go. I will show you the rest of the house until your mama unpacks," he said, making him nod his head early.
"Do you have a big window in your room?'' he continued his question, making me move my head in amusement. After keeping the clothes, I walked to the washroom to take a quick shower. A gasp left my mouth when I saw myself in the mirror. I looked like a total mess, like a homeless woman. My hair was out of my ponytail. My nose and eyes were swollen, and their cheeks were red and blotchy. I was looking so out of place that nothing compares to him, who looked like a model who had just walked out of the magazine.
Why am I even thinking about it?
He is married, and now I am just the mother of his child. I remember how he looked at me with disgust and hatred when he found out about Neil. I don't care anymore. My priority is my son's health. I brushed that thought away. I took a quick shower and changed into decent pyjamas. I let my wet hair air-dry. I walked into the living room, which was filled with the aroma of pizza. My stomach grumbled in hunger. I have not eaten anything since I woke up. I found them waiting for me. Skyler looked up from his cell phone. My heart started to beat fast when I found him staring at me.
"Mama, come fast. I'm hungry," Neil said eagerly when his eyes fell on me.
"Coming," I said while looking away and walking towards him. Neil eats the pizza happily. I couldn't eat more than two slices of pizza, even though I was hungry as hell. Skyler was looking at me now and then, making me nervous. I chewed slowly and found it hard to swallow. Neil fell asleep while eating. He was tired from all the travelling. I was about to keep my slice and take him to bed when Skyler stopped me.
"I will clean him and put him in bed. You finish it," he said in a firm tone, looking at my half-eaten slice of pizza. I didn't want him to do that, but he gave me a look, saying he wouldn't take no as an answer. He walked to the guest room with Neil, and I finished the half-eaten slice. I eat one more slice and then decide to clean up until he comes out of the guest room. I don't want to be in the same room as him. I know very well what happens then. I kept half a pizza in the refrigerator and was throwing the boxes in the bin when I felt the presence behind me. His scent lingered in the air, and it made me go numb for a few seconds. My heart started to beat fast. I tried to slip from the side, but he blocked it with his left arm. I tried to move from the right side, but he again blocked it, caging me in his arms. I swallowed hard and took a deep breath.
"Move! I need to go," I said in a firm tone, even though I was trembling from inside. I thought he would move, but instead, he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to his hard chest. A gasp left my mouth at his sudden action. His breath fanned over the edge of my ear. My heart almost jumped out when he opened his mouth.
"Not before I'm done with you."
