Unaware that a hurricane was waiting for me.

"Hello," I answered my call, which has been ringing since I stepped into the bus. I found the corner seat near the window empty. I walked there, still pressing the cell phone to my ear.

"Hazel! "Where are you, and why is your cell switched off?" Kate asked in her voice, which was a mixture of relief and concern.

"It was dead, and I had forgotten to put it on charging," I lied while looking out of the window. I pulled my bag onto my lap when another passenger took a seat beside me.

"You were so disturbed thaI day. day. I was so worried. Why have you not come to work? Is everytokayng ok?" She inquired in concern. Work! I don't think I will be able to go back there. go, will I go Skclose shut place, place making them jobless? At least I have one dejob,t job and they have nothing. They need it more than I. I will manage until Skyler goes back to New York for good; until then, I should not go there.

"Hmm, Kate. I won't be able to come to work anymore," I said with little hesitation.

"Why, what's wrong? Is Neil fine?" She bombarded me with questions. She knows everything about me. Why do I do this job too? She is my only friend, and not telling her my real reason felt weird.

"No, everything is good. I have hospitalised Neil for a routine check, but he is doing great. You don't need to worry," I said before she could panic. She adores Neil very much.

"What? Why didn't you tell me? My poor baby. I will visit him soon," Kate said. I could imagine her piling her hair backward with her hand while talking to me.

"Kate bye. I'm hanging up; my stop is about to come," I said while looking out of the window. I stood up from my seat, pulling a bag over my shoulder.

"Yeah, I will call you. Bye and eat your food on time," she said, sounding like my mother. She was younger than me but always liked to act like my mother.

"Yes, mom," I said with a smile on my face while walking to the door. I slide my cell phone back into my bag. I got out of the bus, covering my nose because there was lots of dust, and the bus started again. I smiled at the guard at the gate and walked into the building. I have just taken a day off, and it feels like I have come back after ages. In your day-to-day life, you get so attached to your job that even if you hate it, you still see it as your second home. Taking the elevator, I went to my floor. I smiled faintly at Aron, who was standing at his desk but walked towards me as soon as he saw me.

"Hey," I said with that faint smile still on my face.

"Hey," he smiled back as his warm eyes moved all over my face.

"Why does your face look so paler than usual?'' he questioned while his fingers brushed my pale cheeks.

"Oh, it's nothing, just a little bit of work stress," I said with a faint smile while moving my head back a little from his fingers. It was not a little bit stressful, but lots of stress was eating me up. Forest green eyes flashed in front of my eyes. I subconsciously bit my lower lip.

"You should still take care of yourself," he said while pulling back his hand. "You need to take a little break. You are going out with me for a coffee after the office, and I won't take no for an answer. You said yes to me last time and still have not gone out with me," he said while pushing his hands into his pocket.

"Arone, let's do it next time." I still tried to push it. He had helped me with a lot of files a few weeks ago in return for a coffee date. I didn't want to say yes, but I wanted to go home early. Neil was crying, and Mom couldn't handle him alone. So I accepted his help with his condition, and since then I've been pushing it every time he brings it up.

"It's not a date, just a coffee with a friend. It's been so long since we talked like the friends we are," he said with a smile on his face, reading my face. He very well knows I'm not looking for any kind of relationship. I sigh deeply. I have no choice.

"Ok," I said with a faint smile on my face.

"Good. I will see you after work," he said while clasping his hands with mine with excitement in his eyes.

"Miss Smith." I heard my name being called when it made me look in the direction of the voice. There stood my body and forest green eyes, a demon. His narrowed eyes in me made my breath hitch. I stopped smiling when his mad eyes moved from me to Arone and to the hand that he was still holding. He let go of it.

"Yes, sir," I said, turning around to look at my boss, who was ignoring him. I very well remember what happened in the morning. That phone call from his wife

"Come to my office. We need to discuss something important," he said while gesturing towards his office door. I gave him a firm nod, still not looking at the person standing beside him. I followed them. I took my seat opposite him.

"What's the important thing you want to talk about?" I asked my boss with my eyes fixed on him. Forest green eyes were following my all-miner movements with kneed eyes.

"Mr. Addams wants to see our construction sites, and I want you to show him and provide him with all the needed documents. So I want you to report him from now on. He will be your boss until this deal is finalised," he said, making me look at him with wide eyes. I felt him smirking in my direction, but I composed myself. I took a few deep breaths before answering him.

"But sir, I'm already handling all the major paperwork for the company's upcoming charity work. I think Arron will be a perfect fit for this opportunity," I said in my calm voice, even though I felt him smirking in my direction.

"I can't trust Arron with this job. I trust only you. You are a very important asset to this company, and anyone who knows about this company after me is you. I want to give only my important and best resources to Mr. Addam," he said with a smile on his face that seemed so fake. He was trying to impress Skyler and nothing else. If I had had a better opportunity, I would have left this job a long time ago. What was surprising to me was that Skyler had not uttered even a word.

"Ok, sir," I said in my stern voice because I don't have any other option. This time, I'm going to make sure he signs the deal and goes back to New York. I want him to just get lost in his married life.

"I knew you wouldn't disappoint me, and about the company's paperwork, you can hand it to Arron. He will look after it; you just focus on assisting our very important client," he said, buttering him up. I wanted to roll my eyes at him.

"I would like to see the site," Skyler said in a firm tone when the boss was about to say something.

"Yeah, sure," he said with a little flustered smile on his face.

"Haz— I mean, Miss Smith, please take him," he said, covering up. He still remembers that Skyler didn't like it when he called me by my name. I just nodded at him firmly.

"After you, sir," I said, still not looking at him but at the door. I followed him out. My heart had been beating fast since I saw him, but I was trying my best to act normal. I was relieved that my boss was here, standing in the elevator with us. He wanted to escort him until he reached his car.

"I will be taking the company's car. I will instruct your driver to follow the company's car,'' I said as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. I don't want to be alone with him.

"It's not needed; we will take my car," he said in a firm tone, but I don't want to. I was about to protest.

"Yes, it's a good idea; it will save time and fuel," my boss said, smiling ear to ear.

"So it's decided you will go with Mr. Addam," he said with that irritating smile still on his face. I clenched and unclenched my fist.

"After you, Miss Smith," he said, as if mocking me for my earlier statement. I chewed my inner cheek in anger and walked to his car. I decided to take a seat beside the driver. I'm going to keep my distance. I took my seat before he came. He took his seat while looking at me through the rearview mirror.

"Come to the back seat," he said in an infirm tone, still looking at me through the rearview mirror. I didn't reply; instead, I asked the driver to start driving.

"Your boss is still standing there. This car won't start until you come and sit beside me," he said in a warning tone, making me look into the sideview mirror. I swallowed hard, finding him still standing there. I had no choice but to change my seat. I went to the back seat.

"Penthouse," he said to the driver as soon as I closed the door. My eyes widened in shock.

Why the hell is he taking me to the penthouse?
