Chapter 2

"Have a good day, butthead." I tease Avery as we walk into the school and go our separate ways.
In school, we like to try to avoid each other at all costs. Somehow though, we both have the same friends, only in different friend groups. And before you ask, I absolutely hate it.

I walk around the corner, a small smile on my face which immediately drops when I see Nate walking down the hall, with none other than Addison Delaney.
Of course, they're a thing now, huh?
I internally scoff, and notice Addison looking at me through the corner of her eye with a he's mine now look.
Dirty, vile fucking bitch.

I sigh, looking down as I pull out my phone, just hoping Nate doesn't turn out to be like her. Maybe it would be best to just keep my feelings to myself.
As I think a bit more, I realize - Addison knows about my crush on him. Or maybe she thinks my crush on him from a few years ago went away..?
No, she knows. She never paid him any mind or interest until I told her about my crush back then.
Fuck, what if she tells him? Or already has told him?? Fuck it, he's going to find out at some point.

I walk into my first class, looking up from my phone as I do so.
Audrey isn't here yet.. oh well, there's still more time. But, she's usually here early.. I hope nothings wrong.

I set my bag on the floor beside my chair, and scoot myself in, turning my attention back onto my phone as I wait for the final bell to go off.
A few minutes later, I look to the door, hopeful that Audrey will walk in at least at the last second.
There she is!

My eyes immediately light up when I see her walk in, her glasses, as usual perched on her button nose, her eyes scanning anything and anyone throughout the room, until her eyes land on me.
Her posture immediately perks up, and her lips pull into a wide smile as she waves quickly and makes her way to the chair beside mine.

"Hey girl! You got this weekends homework done, right?" She asks as she opens her backpack, pulling out her folder once she does so, and flipping it open, going through her organizers before finding the one she was looking for.

That's one of the things I've always liked about her. She's organized. She never loses anything. Forgot to do your homework? She'll sneakily let you copy off hers so you don't fail the class. Don't have a pencil or paper? She's always prepared. Need a friend or a shoulder to cry on? She's always been there for me.

Right as the bell goes off, the last few people in the class walk in, chatting amongst each other.
I look over, my chin resting on my hand, my elbow propping it up.
My heart does a small drop when I notice Nate walk in. Shit. I totally forgot we have our first class together. And he sits right behind me and Audrey..

I turn my attention to the front of the class, waiting for Mr. Lee's first lecture. He always has a lecture prepared for just before class, about how high school is one of the most important times of our lives and not to take it for granted, yadah yadah.
It was nice the first couple of times, but now, almost halfway through the school year, it's gotten pretty old. Half the class doesn't pay attention anymore as he says it. Some of them even start to nod off a little bit.

"Hey," I hear from behind me as Mr. Lee starts his lecture.
"Jez," He uses my nickname, and I look over quickly, making eye contact with Nate.

"Shh, save it for after the lecture. You know how butthurt Mr. Lee gets," I whisper quickly before turning back around, breathing a sigh of relief when I see he wasn't looking.
Whenever anyone talks amongst each other or diverts their attention from Mr. Lee during one of his lectures, he stops talking until their attention is back on him, and once they're making eye contact, in front of the whole class, he tells them to stay after class. Everyone knows that's not something you want to hear from any of your teachers.

Mr. Lee finally wraps up his lecture, which felt like longer than usual, and tells us to catch up on any school work or whatever since this is more like a home room class.

"Alright, what?" I ask as I turn around in my chair, resting my arms on top of the back rest as I do so.
Why does he have to be so perfect?
I gaze into his light blue eyes, which are slightly covered by some of his light brown hair, which usually has some stray hair strands hanging in his face.

"Actually," he says, adjusting so that he's now sitting back in his chair after glancing over at Audrey, and back to me.
"I'll just talk to you after home room." He says, sighing as he pulls out his notebook and begins studying his notes.

I huff and turn back around, scooting my chair back in after I do so.

"What was that about?" Audrey asks, keeping her voice somewhat down. Not that she needs to, after Mr. Lee finished his lecture, the whole class started chatting amongst each other.

Knowing who she's referring to, I shrug my shoulders. "I dunno, I'll see after class. I'll catch up to you at lunch alright? He seems to want to talk one on one." I say, suddenly getting anxious as I tuck my hair behind my ear.

"Oh," she says, widening her eyes slightly, before quickly glancing over at him and then back at me.
"Well I hope it goes well, I know how nerve wracking that can be." She says as she pulls her notebook as well and begins studying.

Sighing softly, I pull a piece of paper out of my folder, and grab a pencil from my bag and begin sketching. The only thing I can seem to do to pass the time.
