Chapter Ten

"Hey Marinette." Adrien nearly bit his tongue off in his attempt to not let his familiar pet name for her slip. It didn't help that she was wearing the exact same dress she wore only months ago for her birthday. The beautiful green swirls that ran up her side glittered as the sun hit them, contrasting against the darkness of the black fabric. Her midnight blue hair was pinned against her head, delicate curls framing her face as the rest spilled at the back in a high pony tail.

"Hi, Adrien." She slid into the car next to him before he could offer her his hand. His mouth went dry as he took in all the radiant beauty that she emitted. He had worked next to so many models but none of them could compare to Marinette. Sure, his opinion was biased seeing as how he loved Marinette but it's still true!

It took him a second to register the fact that Gorilla had began to drive the two teens to their destination. His heart was thumping wildly in his chest as a feeling he wasn't used to washed over him. He was nervous. He didn't understand why, he's been dating Marinette for weeks now, so why was this so different?

Because you've never actually gone on a date with her in public.

And you still aren't. He had to remind himself. Marinette thought that this wasn't a date because she was dating Chat Noir. He swallowed his oncoming groan as he watched Marinette looking out the window. It was times like this that keeping his identity hidden made him want to give up being the famed hero. And if he ever told her that he, Adrien Agreste, was Chat Noir she would be put in danger with that. And even if she does accept him for being the cat-themed hero, and continues to date him as Adrien the paparazzi would never leave her alone. All of her privacy would be violated. He couldn't do that to her.

"Adrien?" His green eyes darted to her bluebell eyes with a wide smile.

"Yes?"

"Are you okay?" No, he was currently in turmoil about his identity.

"Yeah, I'm just thinking about what they're going to do for Avatar." He lied easily, which was something he was not very proud of. Marinette seemed to have bought his white lie though as her face lit up in delight. Her hands clasped together and her eyes twinkled with excitement.

"I've really been looking forward to this!" She exclaimed with a wide grin. "Avatar is my favorite movie, though the person I watched it with doesn't seem to care for it-"

"I'm sure they do. I think anybody would like it if they saw how happy you get about it." Adrien cut her off. It stung that she thought he didn't care for Avatar, but she did have a fair reason as to think that. He did criticize the movie a lot, but just watching her burst with a bubbly love for the movie made him enjoy it as well.

"I hope so, cause I want to watch it with them more later in the future." The soft smile on her face was enough for him to know that she loved Chat and that made pride swell up in his chest like never before. This girl in front of him was his and his only. No other could make her smile like she did when she thought of him, and no other could ever take her away from him. He loved her and he would do anything to keep her for himself. Call him selfish, but he didn't want her to love anyone else.

He was selfless all his life for his friends and his father. It was about damn time for him to do something for himself, he thought. And what he wanted was Marinette. "I hope you get to." Adrien replied back.

The car rolled to a stop before Gorilla opened the door for him. After he got out and readjusted his black suit, he held a hand out for Marinette to get out. As her smaller hand slid into his, he gently pulled her up. From the corner of his eye he could see a ghost of a smile on Gorilla's face before he disappeared back into the car to drive off somewhere.

"Well, let's get to our seats. Shall we?" He offered her his arm to which she hooked her own around.

"We shall."

Marinette wished Chat Noir was here. Not that she wasn't having fun with Adrien or anything! It's just that she thinks Chat Noir would enjoy this as well. The blue painted people ran all over the stage, fighting all the while dancing to some intense music. To her side Adrien seemed to be enjoying the show which made her glad. Lately she's been getting more comfortable around the blonde which was allowing their friendship grow.

She's been seeing more traits in Adrien that she never had the chance to before and she couldnt help but notice how some of them resembled to some traits Chat had. Though she blamed that over the fact that Chat Noir couldn't get out of her head. But now she saw all the amazing things that made Adrien seem more human than he had when she was blinded by her love for him. Like his crooked smile when he was truly happy, or how he had the nervous tick to tap his finger on his thigh.

Adrien saw her staring at him apparently, cause in that moment he turned to face her with a smile. He leaves in next to her with a hand covering the side of his mouth. "Are you having fun?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun. Thanks again for taking me." Seeming content, he leaned back into his seat and watched the dancers swirl around the floor.

Fun would be one word to describe how the rest of the night went.
