Zhan's pov

The entire family was outraged when they heard what Jessie had done to Lucie.

Uncle and Aunt Audrey rushed to see how she was doing; even Grandpa and Grandma came to check up on her, and this time, he didn't cause a scene, which was really shocking.

Everyone comforted Lucy while Cheng and Uncle made plans to completely destroy Jessie. I was finally at peace because now I knew that Jessie was done for.

I went into my room, where Yibo was. He was sitting on the bed, scrolling through his phone. I smiled and sat near him.

"Is everyone gone?" 

"No, they are still there."

"I see. Should we prepare some food for everyone?"

"I don't think that would be necessary."

"Alright."

Everyone stayed for a few hours before leaving, Lucy decided to stay with me. Aunt Audrey thanked me for taking care of her daughter, and I was glad that she was talking to me again.

Uncle and Cheng went together to discuss the case.

Grandma gave me a hug, she hugged Yibo as well before leaving, while Grandpa just gave me a glance before he left.

Lucy stayed with us, and I knew that she felt guilty towards me and she wanted to make up to me by clinging onto me. That's just how she worked; if she ever made someone angry, then she would cling to them and wouldn't leave their side till they forgave her.

That's just how she has always been.

I sighed when I thought about the bad things that I said to her. I didn't mean any of those, of course, and now I feel bad when I see the black bruise forming on her eye.

"She is going to be okay, Zhan," Yibo said as he gently held my hand and comforted me.

I just gave him a nod. "She has always been a pampered princess; no one has ever raised their hands on her. I feel angry at Jessie for touching my sister."

"Cheng and your uncle will take care of it, don't worry."

I nodded. "I need to go to the office tomorrow," I said.

"But it's Sunday tomorrow."

I sighed, "Well, it can't be helped I have too much pending work, and I have to attend a few meetings. I am going to work overtime to catch up. I'll try to be back soon. Will you be okay?"

"I'll be fine."

I smiled as I kissed his forehead.

Yibo's pov

Zhan left early in the morning. I kind of felt off because I wanted to spend Sunday with him, but work was important.

When I reached the kitchen, I saw that Zhan had already prepared breakfast for me, which made me smile.

I love this guy. I sat down on the chair and started eating when Lucy came out of her room, too.

I looked at her, and she looked back at me.

Well, this was awkward. I had never interacted with her on one. Besides, after that huge fight back at Zhan's family, I had no idea how to approach her.

"Good morning, Lucy. Would you like to have some breakfast?"

Lucy just gave me a small smile and came to the table, She sat on her chair while I served her

"Zhan made it for both of us," I said as I placed her dish in front of her.

"Thanks," she said before she started eating. We ate in silence before Lucy said, "I am sorry."

I looked at her as she continued, "I am really sorry  for how I had behaved before in that family dinner."

"It's okay." I said, "It's in the past."

Lucy nodded as she played with her food. It seemed like she wanted to say something, so I asked, "Is there something you want to say to me?"

Lucy bit her lips before she said, "di...did you really do drugs?"

I sat straight, and before I looked away from her, Lucy suddenly said, "I am sorry if I offended you... I just...I was just...asking."

I swallowed the remaining food in my mouth before I spoke, "Yes, I had addiction issues in the past. But I am clean now."

Lucy nodded.

After that, we silently ate our breakfast. "Would you like to go out for a walk?" I asked.

Lucy nodded, "Sure."

It was nice to talk to Lucy; she was a bubbly girl, and once she started talking, she wouldn't stop.

She was a blabbermouth.

"Let's have an ice cream," she said.

"Sure," I said.

"So tell me about yourself too, Yibo," she asked. "I only know that you are Zhan's boyfriend and have known him since childhood and that you work in a bank."

"What else do you want to know?"

"Do you watch movies?"

"Yes, I do."

"Which movie is your favourite? What genre do you like the most?"

"Um... I like sci-fi, and I love interstellar."

"I love that movie, too. Tell me, do you watch series?"

And just like that, I was having a full-blown conversation with Luc,y and I was actually enjoying talking to her.

However, our talk didn't last long because Lucy suddenly stopped in her tracks as she stared at something or someone with fear.

I looked where she was looking and saw Jessie marching toward her.

I immediately stood before her, and Jessie stopped before me, "What are you doing here?"

Jessie looked at me with pure hatred, "Get out of my way, I am here to talk to my girlfriend."

"I am not," Lucy said in a faint voice.

I looked at Jessie and said, "You heard that. She is not your girlfriend, and she does not want to talk to you, so get lost, Jessie."

"I won't go anywhere. Lucy, come on, talk to me, your family has filed a case on  me; let's talk and clear this misunderstanding, and then you can tell them that we are fine."

Lucy held my shirt and said, "I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to go back with you!"

I spoke, "You heard that, Jessie? Now leave us alone before I call the cops."

Jessie stared at me and spat, "you fucker it's all your fault! You brainwashed Zhan and now you are coming between me and Lucy, you fuckiung gold-digger, you druggie, why don't you just get lost!"

"It's not his fault!" Lucy spoke. "Yibo is a nice person. You are a horrible person. you yelled at me, you raised hands at me, I want you to leave."

Jessie yelled, "you fucking slut, now you are leeching onto him! One man is not enough for you, huh! Come here, I will set you straight." Jessie said as he tried to reach out for Lucy, but I intervened and pushed him away, "Get lost!" I yelled as I stood in front of Lucy.

"Lucy, go back inside." I said to her, "I will deal with him." She looked at me and then at Jessie before she ran inside the building. Jessie tried to run after her, but I stopped him by tripping him down.

He got up and ran after he,r but I stopped him again. Once Lucy was inside the building, I finally let him go.

"Get lost, Jessie." I said, "Get a damn life."

Jessie glared at me before he lunged at me, I did not see that coming and was caught off guard when Jessie punched me across the face.

He came at me again, but this time, I was ready. I punched him back and kicked him in the stomach, and threw him on the ground. "Get lost, Jessie; otherwise, this won't end well. You are making things worse for yourself." I said before  I started to walk towards the building; however, Jessie had not given up yet.

While I was walking, I suddenly felt something hit my head, and suddenly, everything went blank. I felt blood flowing down from the side of my head. as I nearly lost my balance, I turned around and saw Jessie was holding a rod as he looked at me.

"I am going to fucking kill you"! he said and was about to hit me again before Cheng and Yanli came there.

Cheng got to Jessie and beat the shit out of him, while Yanli came by my side and helped me, Lucy was there too and the two helped me inside, while Cheng deal with Jessie.
