"So you're telling me I'm a son of a higher ranking officer or something?"

Taehyung stopped on his tracks, turning his attention on the young male whose name is Yeonjun, his personal servant.

"Yes, young master. Lord Baekhyun is the minister of war and the right hand man of the King." Yeonjun answered politely, head hanging low as he maintained a meter away from Taehyung.

"Cool." Taehyung grinned, skipping his way to the pavilion in the middle of a lake in front of the grand house.

After waking up in this unfamiliar place days ago, Taehyung thought he had gone insane or perhaps he's been having a very odd dream.

However, when he woke up the next day and he's still in the same place, he knew everything he's been experiencing isn't just a mere dream.

No matter how hard he tried to think of a plausible explanation to everything that's been going on, he just couldn't think of anything and would just end up getting an annoying headache.

If someone had told him before that he would become some kind of royalty one day, he would've laughed at it and lost his mind at the crazy idea.

However, he's here, being treated like a royalty, fed with food he never thought he'd be able to taste, dressed in the grandest silk he never thought he'd be able to wear, and most of all being taken care of by the people whom he could call 'family'.

He's been receiving everything he never had when he was still the 18-year old Taehyung.

And somehow, it felt good.

Taehyung doesn't know how he ended up in this situation and why he's living a life of someone else, but it sure as hell felt good.

If all of these things would turn out to be just a part of his dream or hallucinations, Taehyung doesn't want to wake up anymore and return to his normal life.

There's nothing for him to return to anyways, no one to look for him even if he's gone missing.

In here, he feels like he's living... really living and not just merely breathing.

"So I'm some kind of a nobleman, huh?" Taehyung asked in an amused tone. He sat on the cushion in the middle of the pavilion where a small table with snacks and fruits was already prepared for him.

Another servant immediately poured a tea to his cup before rushing away.

"Yes, young master." Yeonjun politely answered.

Taehyung nodded his head, grinning happily at the current situation he's in.

"It's like hitting a jackpot." He chuckled, picking a grape and excitedly tossing it in his mouth.

He glanced at the servant and caught him looking at him with worried expression on his face.

"Uh, why are you standing there?" Taehyung cleared his throat and pointed out the empty cushion in front of him.

"Come join me, Yeonjun." He said, smiling brightly at the younger male whose eyes became as wide as saucers.

"I can't, young master." Yeonjun bowed down to decline.

Taehyung pouted. "Oh come on! Just join me here. The food doesn't taste good if I'm eating alone." He urged to which Yeonjun politely declined once more.

"It's so kind of you, young master, to ask me to join you, but a lowly servant such as myself shouldn't even dream of doing so." Yeonjun said in a soft voice, eyes still glued on the floor.

His words made Taehyung sigh.

"Who said you're just a lowly servant?" Taehyung stood and made his way to the younger.

He held him by the shoulders, making the younger flinch.

"Young master! You shouldn't be touching someone as lowly as me! I'm filthy-"

"Hush, Yeonjun." Taehyung smiled, patting the younger male on the head.

"You're not just a servant and you're not filthy or whatever you're saying." He said, making Yeonjun look down even more.

"I thought we're already friends? or am I the only one who thinks that way?" Taehyung asked, leveling his face to the younger until their eyes finally met.

"Y-young master..." Yeonjun doesn't know what to say. He's speechless and overwhelmed by the words his young master has uttered.

"Now come join me." Taehyung dragged Yeonjun and made him sit on the cushion in front of him.

"Eating with someone makes the food even more delicious." Taehyung grinned, placing the food in front of the younger before taking his seat once more.

"Eat up." He urged to which Yeonjun politely nodded.

"T-thank you, young master." He whispered, bowing his head.

"Is it really necessary for you to call me young master? Can't you just call me by my name? Wait... What is it again?" Taehyung asked, forgetting the name again.

Yeonjun blinked and looked at him strangely once more before answering.

"Kim Vante, young master." He answered.

"Oh right." Taehyung grinned. "Just call me V from now on."

Yeonjun's eyes turned wide, horrified by his words. "I can't, young master. That would be a grave sin!" He exclaimed.

Taehyung could see the fear in the eyes of the younger, making him sigh.

"Okay.. I won't force you to call me that anymore. Don't get so worked up." He smiled, pushing more food in front of the servant.

"Here, eat up." He urged to which the younger just politely nodded.

Taehyung went back to eating happily. He could feel Yeonjun's curious eyes on him from time to time, making him a bit anxious.

"What?" He asked, catching the younger staring at him.

"Nothing, young master." Yeonjun quickly avoided his gaze.

"You look like you want to say something. Go on. I'm listening." He responded, making Yeonjun lower his head.

Taehyung waited for the man to speak. He saw him hesitate a couple of times before opening his mouth.

"Young master, I know I'm in no place to say this, but seeing you so energetic and full of life now makes me happy." Yeonjun said in a soft voice.

Taehyung paused, slowly placing down the cup he's holding.

"Why? Am I not like this before?" He asked in a curious tone.

Yeonjun shakes his head. "No, young master. Though you have always been kind, you rarely smile or even talk with the people around you."

"Hmm..really?" He uttered in a low voice.

"Yes, young master. You would always stay in the library, reading books all day and spending most of your time alone in your room." Yeonjun paused, shyly lifting his head to glance at him.

"Seeing you smiling and full of life like this as if you're a different person makes me happy, young master." Yeonjun smiled, before fixing his gaze on his hands.

I am a different person.

Taehyung stopped himself from saying those words out loud. Instead, he smiled.

"Maybe I really hit my head that bad." He said in a humorous tone before sipping his tea.

According to his physician, he was found unconsciously lying on the floor days ago in the library. His physician had concluded that he had hit his head that's why he couldn't remember anything.

Taehyung just played along with this story and acted as if he really lost his memory when in truth, there's nothing for him to remember anyways since he's not the real owner of this body.

He's not Kim Vante.

He's Kim Taehyung.

However, he didn't dare say anything and just go with the flow. He doesn't know what had happened to the real Kim Vante, but he doesn't care anymore.

He's living his life now. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

"I was really afraid when I saw you unconscious, young master. I thought..." Yeonjun trailed off, eyes glued on the man entering the Kim household.

Taehyung noticed this and followed where the younger's eyes were focusing.

He stopped, seeing the ravenette heading inside the house.

"I-I shouldn't be seen sitting with you, young master." Yeonjun quickly stood and move away from him.

Taehyung would've stopped the younger but wasn't able to do so when he saw the ravenette turn to look at his direction.

Though he was far from him, Taehyung could feel the same overwhelming emotion he had felt the first time he laid his eyes on the man.

It's as if his heart was being torn to pieces just by the mere sight of him.

"Who is he?" Taehyung asked in a low voice, still unable to tear his gaze away from the ravenette who's now making his way toward him.

"He's Jeon Jungkook, young master. H-he's your knight." Yeonjun said in a low voice.

"My... knight?" Taehyung uttered under his breath.

"Yes, young master. He's been guarding you for as long as I could remember." Yeonjun responded in a whisper.

Taehyung stared at the ravenette as he went closer. His heart seemed to beat with every step the ravenette makes.

He stopped in front of him with his intimidating aura that made Taehyung gulp.

"Young master."

Taehyung held his breath at the sound of the ravenette's voice, low and firm.

"I have received a gift from the son of the minister of finance." Jungkook handed him a box which Taehyung didn't even notice earlier when he saw him.

His hand was trembling when he took it from the ravenette, mind still in chaos at the effect this man has on him.

"T-thank you."

Taehyung mindlessly removed the lid, revealing fresh herbs and ginseng. He didn't expect such gift but didn't complain.

He covered it once more and handed it to Yeonjun who immediately took the box and excused himself as he made his way inside the house, leaving the two alone.

"Who's the son of the minister of finance?" Taehyung asked, trying to strike a conversation with the ravenette who was standing a few meters away from him. He disregarded the unusual feeling he has for him, thinking of it to be just one of his imaginations.

The ravenette didn't glance at him as he responded.

"Park Jimin." He answered in a stern voice.

Taehyung was waiting for more information, but the man seemed to have no intention to say anything else.

A man of few words, huh?

"Is he my lover or something?" He asked, trying to get a reaction from the ravenette.

However, he just calmly stood there, face void of any emotions as he spoke.

"He's one of the few people you interact with."

"Hmm.." Taehyung hummed, nodding his head.

"That means he's just a friend." He added, staring at the ravenette's profile.

He's lean and tall with an intimidating aura that anyone could feel even from a distance.

He's stiff with no emotions at all, too rigid and seemed to be heartless.

However, Taehyung just couldn't help but be drawn to the man regardless of the cold facade he's showing.

"How about you? Who are you?" He asked in a challenging tone.

The ravenette turned to look at him, eyes locked with his own and Taehyung almost had wanted to take back his question.

"I believe you already know who I am." Jungkook answered in the same cold voice that brought chills to Taehyung's body.

However, he's naturally stubborn, so he kept on challenging the man.

"I heard you're my knight." Taehyung said in a humorous tone.

"So you protect me or something, right?"

He met the ravenette's strong gaze, smiling a little at him to hide how his heart is beating wildly in his chest.

The ravenette didn't answer and just stared at his face which made Taehyung anxious. However, he didn't let it show.

"You're just a knight but you don't call me young master as soon as Yeonjun left. You're not afraid to look straight in my eyes and you don't answer when you don't want to." Taehyung scoffed as he stared at the ravenette who still doesn't show any sign of emotions.

"So tell me." Taehyung paused, standing from his seat and slowly making his way toward the ravenette.

He stopped, almost closing the distance between the two of them.

"Are you really just my knight? or you're more than that?" He asked in a low voice, eyes not leaving the ravenette's charcoal black eyes.

He could see how dark those eyes are, almost drowning him with emotions he couldn't explain.

There's a burning attraction between them. His body was reacting in such a way Taehyung couldn't control.

He saw the ravenette's eyes land on his lips, making Taehyung gulp in the palpable tension in the air.

"Get some rest, young master." Jungkook answered instead.

Taehyung wasn't able to stop the ravenette who immediately turned his back on him and walked away.

He was about to call him but stopped when he saw Yeonjun approaching him.

Taehyung trailed his eyes on the ravenette who headed inside the house, leaving him with a lot of questions in his mind.

Jeon Jungkook.

Why does his name bring so much pain in his heart?

Why does it feel like he's more than just his knight?
